Anker seems to get great reviews with nearly all of their products, but I have been burned so many times.
- Cables: Can no longer be bad luck at this point. On average, they last no longer than generic ones and I have wasted way too much money on them.
- Portable generator: I have the...
Central location for all of AMD's APU reviews.
First up, the 8/16 thread 8700g:
https://www.techspot.com/review/2796-amd-ryzen-8700g/
Over twice the gaming performance in some titles as the previous iGPU chap, the 5700g thanks mostly to the DDR5 memory speed increases. Still, it falls short...

Actually a really good deal.
$230 in 2023 is about $185 in 2017 so we are matching, even surpassing the Polaris budget days.
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-allegedly-preps-rx-6750-gre-to-rival-rtx-4060-ti-at-dollar299
On the heels of the 7900 GRE, AMD is set to launch another specialized card cariant, possibly China exclusive once again. Whereas the 7900 GRE was a highly cut down version if the 7900 series...
So this will be my 4th APU adventure. The other 3 can be found on the original post here:
https://hardforum.com/threads/ryzen-5-2400g-overclock-with-firestrike-and-timespy.1956026/
Right now I am using the same asrock b350 itx Fatality (finally got the bios update for Renoir/Cezonne!) as well...
For the most part, USB-C is great. You youngsters don't know about the dark ages of mini-USB and micro-usb cables (still finding broken mini USB cables in my attic).
Still, I would much rather have USB-A on the charge side. Despite needing to flip it around 3 or 4 times to plug in...
There is a leak of new 30 series midrange cards on the way. While the 40 series is just around the corner, it may be before we see affordable midrange options from the new architecture.
First up is an 8 GB 3060. Not only does it have less vram than the 3060, but it uses a 128 bit bus meaning...
AMD looks to be launching a cut down 6700xt. Tflop and bandwidth numbers are actually closer to the 6600xt, however it sports 80MB of infinity cache which is much closer to the 96MB on the 6700xt than the 32MB on the 6600xt. The lower clocks could make it a strong overclocker/ efficient model...
Apparently Nvidia has become jeoulous of the mocking plubicity, but publicity nonetheless, of AMDs RX 6500xt/6400 GPUs. This gem is discussed extensively here:
https://hardforum.com/threads/the-6500xt-and-6400-meet-your-next-gpu-pc-gaming-peasants.2015965/
Enter the RTX 1630. With just over...
While ripping Blurays again, I noticed that Handbrake had a 4k upscale option so I wanted to see if there was an improvement over my standard encodes.
4k settings: medium speed, crf 22, h.265 cpu
1080p settings: slower speed,crf20,h264
What you are looking at is a small boat in the distance...
I volley of new AMD CPUs are coming:
5800X3D - $450 Extensively covered on other threads
5700x - $300 Basically a 5800X price cut
5600 - $ 200 Same as to the 5600X
5500 - $160 6/12, (updated info) could be interesting, maybe a 1600 AF replacement.
4600g $154 - Seen before as the OEM 4650g
4500...
I am starting to rip Blu rays again for 1080p playback and wanted to see the recommendations today.
When I ripped my current library in 2019 and 2020, it was H264 using the CPU. I now have a 1050ti with NVENC.
Format: Back in 2019 most pushed H265 over H264 as it was seen as "the future"...
First thing out of the way, I know this is likely more vaporware going straight to miners. A boy can dream.
We are getting the first leaks of Nvidia's RTX 3050, due to release in a month:

Overall, it looks rather...
While gpus are going for double or more the retail price, AMD may be launching a card that may be pathetic enough for them to ignore:
https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-entry-level-rdna2-radeon-rx-6500xt-to-feature-1024-stream-processors-rx-6400-with-768#disqus_thread
