You can put a new PSU in the 8300 just fine. Dell stopped using proprietary power supply connections back in the Pentium 2 days. I know for a FACT that the 8300's case and mainboard will take a standard PSU. Those PSUs that Dell uses are a bit weak for my liking.

A Laptop with a Pentium M I wouldn't worry about running 24/7, though I'd set the HDD to turn off after being inactive. Your notebook is a DTR with a Dekstop CPU, I'd suggest at least putting it in standby, those desktop CPUs are hotter than a Pentium M at idle even and I just don't trust those...

eBay will be cheapest usually, and $110 is the going rate for just about any battery from an e-tailer. Those fuckers price gouge like you wouldn't beleive. They want $60 for keyboards ($25 - 30 on eBay) $300 for mobos (Depending on model you can find some for HALF that).
