Thanks for the input, guys. One note, I haven't actualy talked to anyone about it yet, Newegg prefers to handle all their RMA stuff through e-mail. Still waiting on the reply.

Greetings again, [H]'ers!
Been gone a while and just ordered parts for a budget gaming system. I purchased a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L from Newegg, and when I opened the box, and removed the documentaion so I could get a look at the MB, I noticed the Northbridge heatsink was askew. Upon closer...
I realized this about 2 years ago, but man, has it been fun watching all you guys 'discuss' how AC compares to every other w/c config on the planet. Very entertaining!
Hi, Head-fi/[H]'ers!
Here's some shots of my setup in DC in October, before I moved...(team clutter-fi ;) )
Let's see what all is in there:
Cans: Beyer DT770-80pro, Audio-Technica W1000, Grado HF-1, Sennheiser PX200
DIY amps: C-moy, Pimeta/Tread
Sources: Audigy 2ZS...
A500 is an excellent gaming can. It provides excellent soundstage/positioning as well as good deep bass and suprising detail. Plus, they are low impendance cans so they don't require an amp to sound good...of course and amp wouldn't hurt, either! :D
Thrice last night, after patch, after virus scan and after spyware scan. Nothing changed...
however
I gave it another shot since you mentioned it and it seems to have worked! System Idle Process @ 99% FTW!
Thanks guys, you rock!
I was dl'ing the new MS patch (auto update) when I first noticed that I wasn't folding anymore. I closed FAH, let the patch finish dl'ing and install, then rebooted. As soon as the OS was back up again, I checked task manager and found that csrss.exe and explorer.exe were still using 20/80%. I...
Well, I've been pretty quiet here, but I've been folding for a number of monts for the [H]orde and just recently encountered a problem. I thought I'd ask here since I already checed M$'s site and googled some with no luck.
I am running XP Pro SP2 on the system in my sig. I run FAH console...
OK, I'll explain it to you. You said:
and in the very next post, you said:
Now, maybe big pics taking up your bandwith is some world threatening event, but to me it seems like 'small stuff'. Still it seems to bother you. I was just trying to point out that you may need to work harder at...
Nice Pass, Imitation. :D
My production has been falling off, and for that I apologize. I've been unemployed for a little while now, and my main comp doesn't fold as well when I'm gaming for 10-12 hours a day.
I need to get off my lazy butt and put together that old nf2/xp-m...
Hi MrX-
I ended up using the 24V AC/DC 400ma WW. :D
I picked up the W1000's used on e-bay. I really like the sound over the A500's I used to have.
btw, I am now the owner of an 0404 that you had your hands on. Just wanted to say, very nice work!
Yeah, I've been noticing you guys creeping up on me. Just remember, whoever passes me first is required to catch sevenpants, too! :)
I'm comming off a bad streak, though. My main boxen, which almost always pulls 600 pointers, started pulling 50-70 point WU's. One after another. From Sunday to...
The nano comes in 2 and 4 gig versions, 200 and 250 buck, and in black and white.
I like mine a lot. But it's the first mp3 player I've owned, so I can't compare it to others.
I haven't tested 14 hr. battery life claim, as I rarely need it for more than 6 hours in a day.
I was in the same position as you a few weeks ago. After reading a bunch over at head-fi.org and headphonereviews.org, I ended up purchasing the Audio Technica A500's. They're low impendance, so they sound good without an amp. They're HUGE, but not heavy, so I find them comfortable, even after...
I think a more efficient power supply or underclocking/volting your cpu/gpu would decrease the ammount of heat your box puts out. My working area seems a little cooler after changing my old PS for a Seasonic.
Watercooling gets the heat away from your processors quicker and more efficiently...
I'm new to the whole headphone addiction. I've been using Senn px200 for about 5 months, and have been happy, but I'm not sure they will isolate enough for you. Yesterday, I got my ATH-A500's (~$110). They're closed, with good isolation, and sound fantatstic for my varied musical tastes as well...
I'm happy with mine, too. First rev, I'm even still runnin stock bios. Its stable at 250x11(1T), with enough vcore. I know alot of people had problems, I've read the whole thread at dfistreet. I haven't had any problems with mine aside from teh skewed voltage readings.
I replaced my MSI K8N Neo2 platinum with the DFI LanParty UT nF3 Ultra-D. Both are good boards, but personally I give the overclocking edge to the DFI, although some people find it more finiky than the neo2.
Letting cmos clear overnight has worked for me when nothing else would.
You learned an important lesson, tho. Don't trust software OC'ing utilites :D
If you had the same problem before, how did you fix it the first time?
Oh, what Power supply?
I had this problem every time I tried to log onto a server when I first installed the game. I fixed it by manually opening a bunch of ports in my XPfirewall. For some reason allowing the game from the popup didn't work...ymmv.
Well, Sevenpants is looming large in my rear view. I guess I'll be relinquishing the lead in the next day or so. Its hard to stave off someone with more that twice your PPD :D
Grats to everyone, though. We're putting up good numbers for noobs, and havin fun!
Fold on, y'all!
-I have a few tight bends in my 1/2" setup, coolsleeves do help me aviod kinks
-A good spring would probably be better, but would involve more work.
-I would think putting anything inside the tubing would obstruct your flow, so outside is probably best.
For ease of use, Coolsleeves get...
Hrm...well, usually if a drive sees all your cd's but one, it's because the one is bad.
You said you added a drive, did your drive letters change? If the CD drive changed from 'D:' to 'E:' your old shortcuts might not work.
Strange, tho <shrug>
If you're a complete noise freak, you'll be VERY disappointed with the vantec 'stealth'. I thought mine was quiet, untill I compared it to Yate Loon/Nexus. Then I realized that vantec stealth fans are crap.
If you want quiet, yate-loon/nexus/tricod fans are the way to go PERIOD.
I'm betting that Hillary Clinton is planning on riding the 'Federal Video Game Ratings and Enforcement' argument all the way to the White House. I remember reading stories months ago where she is backing a multi-million dollar research project on violent video games.
Hell, give me a million...
1) Your radiator choice will depend on a few things:
-how loud/powerful are the fans you plan on using.
-how much space you have in your case or external enclosure
-whether or not you're willing to cut your case, if you get a larger rad
Swiftech rads are basically rebranded HWLab rads. The...
