I built a new system and formatted my Western Digital 250GB SATA hard drive using Partition Magic software. I partitioned it so the C drive is approximately 50GB and the remaining space on what i thought would be drive D. The new partition is logical and not primary as there won't be any other...
Just a quick thank you for everyone who helped build my new system. I only posted about it in one thread, but the search can be a powerful learning tool so I need to thank everyone who posted about their systems and for those who included it in their signatures. I was going in way too many...
I admit to not reading through this entire thread (not that it's that long) , but it was due to sheer excitement.
I did a search for G0 stepping and this thread came up. So I clicked on the link to identify the processor I just received from NewEgg and I was elated to see that I have G0...
I didn't think it would make a big difference (if one at all) considering all the available airflow, but I just wanted to check.
Thanks for the input everyone.
I couldn't find anything by using the search so my apologies if this has been covered. Does painting the inside of an aluminum case increase the ambient temperature inside?
Thank you for your very quick, informative replies.
It would appear I need to do more reading about SLI. I was under the impression that if a board had two PCI-E X16 slots it could do SLI.
I have no idea what I'm going to get for a second monitor as it will be the middle of next year before...
Like so many before me I haven't built a system for more than a few years and am hesitant to press the pay button on my orders. I've spent the past week or so here reviewing systems , posts and links and I think I've got everything covered. However, it's a lot of information to process and I'm...
setup:
Creative x-fi platinum with Logitech 5500's from Newegg. Everything is plugged into an APC UPS w/ line conditioner (system into battery back-up & 5500's into surge suppressor side). UPS sits beside the case, but is 3' away from the sub and 3' away from the 5500's controller. The...
Well, I just spent the last half hour undoing and redoing and I got it working. I downloaded .NET framework 1.1 as well as Sapphire's Catalyst 5.5 drivers and uninstalled the 2.2 Net and 5.13 Catalyst.
When I fired my computer back up and saw the crappy 640x480 desktop I almost crapped, but...
Sorry to jump in here, but I have a related problem with ATI Catalyst.
I recently reformated my system, installed WinXP SP2 and purchased a Sapphire x850xt. I installed the .NET framework v.2.2 and ATI's Catalyst driver v.5.13 for XP. Whenever I try to access the Catalyst program the only...
Greetings,
I haven't been here in quite a while because I have been building our new home for the past 1 1/2 years and I apologize if I forget any etiquette.
I recently purchased a new Samsung 930B lcd monitor for my wife's system and she now needs a new video card to replace the Matrox...
This photo is not retouched. As I mentioned above I was running several programs at once and my system locked up displaying the Cpuz results. I thought about printscreening it, but decided to grab the camera and snap a photo of it. Here's a link to the HUGE original pic . It happened to me...
I was working on OC'ing my 2.4 and decided to run Asus Probe and Cpuz while doing the SiSandra burn test. I think I stumbled upon something as the numbers shown are far beyond what I have seen prior. I'm thinking about building a nuclear power plant next to my house so I can run full-time power...
I just used some AS3 on my new system that has been around for about 2.5 years and everything is fine. I'm running 29º at idle and about 36º at load on my 2.4 @ 3.2.
Chuck
I am totally new to OC'ing, but have done some reading online. I'm still basically lost as to why things work the way they do, but hopefully I'm on the right track with my system.
Here's the general stats of what I'm running:
p4p800 deluxe
2.4c with a Thermalright SK-94 & 92mm Panaflo...
I can't help with the door other than to mention that the PC-82 fronts will fit on your PC-60 and have aluminum doors over the USB ports. They can be bought for $20 here
Thank you for the replies :)
I've never heard bad things about Matrox with regards to 2D (but I've also heard just as many bad things about their 3D) and she's been using Matrox for years with her current card being a G400 dual head. Besides it not having DVI outputs I can tell that the card...
I know this might seem like a strange request, but I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive graphics card that has emphasis on good 2d graphics. It's going to be for my wife's machine and she doesn't game. She'll need the card for web surfing, spread sheets/etc., and quite a bit of 2d rendering...
Being that I only received the PC-61 today and it's still sitting pratically untouched I'd have to say that I'm very satisfied with it
Honestly though ... It's basically the same case as my PC-10 and I have been very happy with that one. Yes, the PC-61 has a removable mobo tray (a...
I just received that same case from NewEgg today and I must say it's awesome in person!!
I'm not sure what the differences are between the different cases without looking though them, but I do know that there's a few subtle differences between the PC-61 and my PC-10 (that isn't made anymore)...
I know I'm still a cheeze, but there should be a setting in the bios under hardware monitor that allows the user to uncheck certain readings. I'm not familiar with the p4p800 yet (mine's coming), but my current p4t533-c allows for bypassing temperature settings as well as fan settings.
That...
I can't wait for it to get here!!!
I'm going from:
Asus P4T533-c
2.53 GHz
1024 Kingston 1066 memory
to
Asus P4P800 deluxe
2.4c GHz
512 Mushkin "222 special" memory
Thermalright SP-94 heatsink
I'm going to try to overclock the crap out of the 2.4, but I'll take it one step at a...
Your Vantec didn't come with adapters? My 205 came with app. 10" headers with a male 3-pin and 4pin on one end and a 3-pin female on the other. Did you check newegg to see if they sell them?
I just finished another stage of my case and I wanted to show it off :D
The case started off as a Lian Li PC-10 (aluminum w/ plastic front cover) that was painted the same color as my Dakota (Intense Blue). Well, I got tired of looking at the 3.5" bays looking like crap because of the front...
I have been thinking about updating my current system, but I'm not sure if I will see that much of an improvement over my current set-up. The main uses for this system is gaming, surfing, photo editing, music and some CAD stuff. I usually have at least several windows open at any one time...
My system has been acting up over the past couple weeks and I think it's related to the motherboard battery, but I'd like to hear from you before I take a ride to the store.
The problem I've been running across is when my system wakes up from a system standby. I hit the space bar to wake the...
Thank you for the replies :)
I should've clarified better that the switches I'm referring to are the power and reset switch. I removed the fan controller switch so that shouldn't be a factor.
Looking at your picture Seraphim974 (thank you for posting it) the main difference I notice is...
I just took a picture of the switch location of my Lian Li PC-10 case (please excuse the dust on the filter as I'm still working on my fist cup of coffee). I have been looking for replacement face plates, but now am on a different path.
In another thread there's a that sells front bezels...
I polished the inside of the case using Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish (found at Pepoys, AutoZone, etc.). It took a couple coats and a very soft cloth, but it's worth it.
Here's a 1600x1200 pic for those with more than a 56.6k
Thanks,
Chuck
Yes I know ... another faceplate question ...
I'm very sorry, but I have run out of options other than to take up your time and bandwidth in my quest.
I have been searching for new faceplates (both 3.5 and 5.25) for my Lian Li PC-10, but have not had any luck. I melted a couple of mine...
