Haven't posted anything in awhile, but here goes nothing.. prices are OBO, shipped from Philadelphia, PA.
Dell Precision M90. Bought this for my trips out to California to do some light wow playing and a lot of work. It's basically a desktop replacement. Quick, in great shape. I bought it...
Selling an e4300 with an Asus P5N-E Sli motherboard (650i sli chipset). I have the original box + accessories for the motherboard, no box for the cpu. Including an OCZ heatpipe hsf (fairly big, like a Arctic Pro). Board/chip was overclocked to 3.0ghz for some of its life, stock rest of the...
i've been blowing out my computers with a standard shop compressor for years.. never had any damage. Just make sure you hold your fans to not stress the motors
If water gets on/in your case, so what. It's not going to damage anything, just let it dry out before you use it. Although I've...
I wouldn't bother with dd-wrt micro.. just keep using it for a few days, go buy a real router that can run dd-wrt (wrt54gl, for instance, from newegg -- super easy and safe to flash!), and then go return the POS router to walmart.
vnc. what's not to like?
ssh for CLI stuff or X forwarding
I dont even know of a better way under windows than vnc. MS Desktop Sharing is a joke. Linux has several really good vnc clients too.
with my (onboard) digital audio, via coax spidf, I have to unmute the IEC958 chip and turn up the volume on master, pcm and the '958 slider.
run 'amixer scontrols' and paste whatcha get.
For a linux workstation. No turbocache crap. Otherwise, anything is fine by me.. cheaper the better, don't offer it if over $50 shipped.
Heat in sig, will non-cc paypal.
It does actually.. but I've found it doesnt work always. Especially with nvidia cards. *grumble*
At least on my ubuntu system it tried reading it and failed, had to setup all the stuff manually. Oh well.
What? Don't question the system V gods. Or wherever /etc came from :)
And don't forget about /usr/local/etc!
... and finally, what would you rather? A odd name of a directory that actually makes sense to have, or ... Windows registry? :)
Okay.. I want to be able to include() a php file, systemwide for ALL filetypes. It will simply read the internal HTTP_AUTH variables from apache (when a username/password is sent), authenticate it via mysql and then return the file requested or request login information via header().
I figured...
well, you can use vmware or another emulator to run windows from inside linux, but it does not have the graphics capabilities or the speed needed to run games.
great for other applications that need a full blown windows build, however.
Okay.. so, I decided I'd try a amd solution, but I'm way out of date on what I should get. I think I'm going for the black box 5000+ x2 brisbane, and would like to overclock it quite a bit. Need suggestions on a good motherboard, and a good cooling (air) solution.
Ram will probably be some...
Go install vsftpd. Super easy to config and run. But.. yeah, it is one more thing to config, but ftp is very nice when dealing with clients in windows who won't or can't understand scp/sftp.
You almost certainly won't be able to use that usb wifi adapter in master mode ("AP"), sorry. You'll need to get a wifi pci card with a prism54 or atheros chipset to work with master mode. Broadcom's are almost supported by the b43 driver, but they still have issues.
Oh.. and freebsd rocks as...
I'm wondering if you will have any issues with the 2 power supplies and floating ground.. I ran my 2 machines (see sig) in a single custom built case for awhile, and had extreme issues with the hard drives and mobo's not liking each other due to the power supplies and grounds conflicting .. and...
Well, my load average is 6.0 right now. 2 bzip2 processes, tar, couple of ftp and samba sessions going, along with amarok playing music, surfing [H]. It's not too lagged down, but its getting a bit slow. So, quad would be the best option I think if I can pull it off for cheap.
So.. yeah...
