Doing some testing this morning to see if we can find the cause of some folks slower page loads.

We removed a server from our DNS loop last night.

Type "nslookup hardforum.com" in a CMD/DOS window and see if you have a .204 server listed. If so, you cannot help us with the test right now. Your DNS should update later today and remove .204 from the DNS listing. If you are anxious and want to help, set Verizon's 4.2.2.1 DNS server in your Network settings as it has already updated.

THEN, and the CMD/DOS prompt type "ipconfing/flushdns". This will clear your dns cache.

NOW see if this impacts your page load times any and please report here. DO NOT report here if you have not fully followed the above instructions.

.205/.206 are the only ones I have. Pages are loading normally, 1-2s or less.

Actually it seems subjectively to have improved my load times some.

They were never painfully bad but it feels like the vtec is working at the moment.

Same here - super fast and first check only showed me .205/.206. I've not noticed any slow loads anytime recently.

Yep, nail on the head dude. I ctrl+F5'd a dozen [H] tabs after flushing and it's better now.

After flushing, it's showing only 205 and 206, and it's back to normal (very fast) again.

I flushed, Vista Ult SP1 with FF3.0:

Search: New Posts Showing results 1 to 15 of 404
Search took 0.09 seconds.

Even though it lists it at 0.09 it still took 3-4 seconds for the page to load.

At 10:37am eastern loading the usercp was quite slow the back to quick again in a minute

10:40 all of the threads I'm clicking on are taking about 12-20 seconds to load, in multiple forums

Three separate page loads took well over a minute each just now. Back to normal again though.

flushed dns and nslookup only shows .205 and .206

(Vista SP1, IE7)

had .205 and .206 earlier

flushed dns and I see .204 now

Everything back to normal.

THANKS, this show delivers.

GREAT FEEDBACK!!!!

This helps me work out some things. I think we have a network issue here.

been working good for me since I flushed the DNS.

I was having problems off and on yesterday, it was very inconsistent and unpredictable. Flushed DNS cache and now showing .205 and .206 only and will note any slowdowns I see and provide the requested info. For what its worth, I don't seem to go through level 3 like RES_78 pointed out

Also got a DB error about thirty minutes ago trying to edit a post in this thread.

I've flushedDNS at least a dozen times, tracert shows me hitting .205 everytime. Nslookup only shows .205 and .206 But Network Monitor 3.1 is capturing packets from .204 when I browse the site. How can that be?

Yeah, 204 is back in nslookup and the slowdown is back.

Ryan, my guess would be the ad server. I suppose it could also be a general request for an image for example depending on how the load balancing is setup.

I show the .206 and .205 servers and the forums are loading at a normal speed for me.

I didn't have the .204 server in my list to begin with and the pages on loaded moderately faster after I flushed my DNS. Here's my tracert:
