I know ram is inexpensive as an upgrade, so it's enticing. I currently have 4gb of ballistix (ugh!) and I decided against adding 4 more for the time being.
Main reason is because I didn't want to risk wasting 2-3 weeks of my time fixing potential issues with the new sticks (compatibility...
I've received over $700 (mostly the HP home store deal) in cashback from live without any major issues.
The only snag I had with them was when it took over 30 days to receive the check after they said they sent it to me. Now, the best way to do it is via paypal.
Yeah, I don't get it. What the hell is Nvidia thinking not dropping prices?? I'm seeing deflation everywhere else except at Nvidia!
I'm hoping for a gtx285 around $275, but losing my patience quickly.

I'm not sure I would sell a GTX 280 (and probably take a loss on it) just because I can't use W7 yet. Just hang in there for now and use Vista.
Vista 64 works just fine with the registry fix and plays my games without any problems. You're right W7 is "cleaner" than Vista though.
Val- You're absolutely right and that's why I'm frustrated. I'm pretty sure MS knows about it, but if it's not a HUGE problem, they won't care enough to fix it.
Everybody points fingers at the other guy (MS vs. Nvidia vs. monitor manufacturer.)
Well, I uninstalled Nvidia drivers (181.22) and reinstalled them...Problem still there. I spent 30 minutes on google through the link Snow provided and most threads pointed to uninstalling graphics drivers and reinstalling...It didn't work though.
Yup...I've got a thread on this issue as well. The only way to run Vista in native resolution for me is to uninstall the Nvidia drivers through add/remove programs.
Can it "run" the latest games? Yes.
Will you enjoy the latest games being run at the "highest" settings? No.
For example: Far Cry 2 at 1680 resolution, 2xAA, Very High settings is enjoyable. At 8xAA, HELL NO!
Same issue here on the LG246WP monitor.
Overscan like a mofo in Windows 7. Registry hack worked for Vista 64, but not for Windows 7...I've tried it.
Still waiting/looking for a solution to a problem we shouldn't have. :(

I know you ran memory tests, but take out one stick of RAM and try to reboot again. If it doesn't boot, take out another stick. I know it sounds weird, but try it anyways. It worked for me.
Peter is right. BYU is known nationwide as a great school to get an MBA at. I've met many BYU grad's (and most are successful) There might be a correlation.
GF would get pissed off when I played FC2 MP and ignored her. So, I got her in on the action and she loves it. Bottom-line, get them involved if they haven't tried it out before.
BTW- This girl is the last girl in the world that would play computer games...Think "TheHills" on MTV. :)
Yup. I've tried the latest codec packs as well as latest drivers for mobo/video card. I hate MS for not allowing an uninstall for WMP11 (among other things!)
-Thanks though.
