Out of nowhere, WMP11 (vista 64) crashes every time I try to stream content (audio or video.) I have no problem downloading the content then playing it, but I am unable to stream. This happens whether I'm using IE or Firefox. I have the latest codecs as well.

I don't want to do the following:

1. Reinstall Vista
2. Rollback to a previous restore point
3. Use other players in place of WMP

Does anyone have any clue how to fix this? I've spent hours trying to figure it out...:(

Thanks!

What errors is it spitting out? Might have to dig them out of the event log.

You would happen to be streaming protected content and swapping processors (or any other hardware, really) around, would you?

give us error numbers,, any overclock going on? have you tried other programs?

Overclocked my Q6600 to 2.7Ghz and running temps in the low 40's. I don't think OC is the issue as there are hundreds of other people on the internet with the same problem without OC.

What do you mean, "other programs"? Winamp, VLC, Quicktime, etc.. all work perfectly. WMP is the only one that crashes.

Thanks.

Have you install any codec packs (you may need the latest release?) Also try updating your video drivers.

Yup. I've tried the latest codec packs as well as latest drivers for mobo/video card. I hate MS for not allowing an uninstall for WMP11 (among other things!)

-Thanks though.

you can get rid of WMP if you goto add/remove programs and click on add/remove windows components on the left.. THEN you can remove WMP

Incorrect. WMP11 is built in to Vista 64 and is not listed as one of the programs/components you can add/remove. Thanks though.

Tried disabling add-ons (except WMP) in IE and still running in to the problem in both browsers (IE/Firefox)

Well, I uninstalled Nvidia drivers (181.22) and reinstalled them...Problem still there. I spent 30 minutes on google through the link Snow provided and most threads pointed to uninstalling graphics drivers and reinstalling...It didn't work though.
