I just found that dell has this 55" monitor with 1920x1080 resolution, and I am wondering if it's good for regular desktop use and gaming. My desktop is 7-year old and the video card is 9800GT with 512 mb memory, so the resolution is perfect, not too high. My concern is if it's gonna be too...
My fsb could go up to 400 no problem, which makes the speed to 400*8=3.2Ghz.
But I was afraid it was too much for my mb, cause its spec says 800/1066/1333 FSB, and my north bridge will be very hot.
A used e8400 is about $100-105. Not a bad price.
But its stock speed is 9x333= 3Ghz already.
I am afraid my fsb wont go up stable.
Comparing 4Ghz with 2mb cache and 3Ghz with 6mb cache, I really don't know which one is better in gaming. What I most care is the minimum fps.
I am thinking upgrading my e2140 (oc 2.8Ghz) to either e5700 or e6800.
e5700 ($87.99) Intel link
e6800 ($93.25) Intel link
The only difference from intel website is e6800 supports additional instruction set extensions (SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3). Does that matter in gaming?
As for price, they...
okay, I found the problem.
In Nvidia Control Panel -> Change Resolution -> refresh rate, choose 59Hz instead of 60Hz.
Now my frame rate keeps smooth all the time just like before ;)
I turned the FPS display on. Actually the frame rate is choppy. Since I have v-sync turned on, I notice the frame rate drops to 2x-3x in intensive fight, while it stays on 60 when nobody is around me. I also lower the resolution to 800x600. Choppy frame rate happens as well.
I don't remember...
[Edit] Problem solved. See the 7th post below.
Hi guys,
I bought a 40in Sony TV for watching TV and my desktop monitor.
It's model is KDL40s5100.
The problem is I found that gaming is more lagging on this one compared to my old 22in Samsung monitor, although the resolution is similar.
On my...

Hi,
Recently I am trying to buy a Cherry G80-3000 Keyboard.
Most of the online retailers have two models: G80-3000LPCEU-0 and G80-3000LSCRC-2. I prefer a one with linear action, which is G80-3000LPCEU-0.
I have ordered on three different stores, but all of them refunded my credit card due...
I have the same mobo.
The spec says it supports rated FSB 1000/1333, which is 4 x CPU FSB.
If FSB > 400, then rated FSB is > 1600. I guess it won't work on such a high value.
Just my guess. I have E2140 (1.6G) oc to 3.2G.
CPU FSB set to 400, and 8x multiplier.
If you can raise multiplier...
Hi,
I have an E2140 overclocked to 3.2G on GigaByte GA P35-DS3L. It has no problems playing TF2 and QuakeWar, and it can run prime95 for 8 hours with no error.
I have Ubuntu 7.10 installed in another partition. Yesterday, I was in Ubuntu and working on my multithread assignment and stress...
I have an EVGA stock clock 8800GT, which is overclocked to 685/950. My temperature is 53c on idle and 58c on load with cycle duty 56%~58%. If the fan was 100%, I believe it could be 52c. Of course, it has the bigger stock fan.
"The variables are in low-level system tweaks -> Fan.
By default they are read-only. In order to change them, you have to set
AutoFanSpeedControl to 3 under RivaTuner\Fan in PowerUser.
Of course my previous post applies only if your board comes with the ADT7473 Fan controller."

See here guru3d forum.
Watch the 3rd post. It's a little bit more information, but you'll understand how to tune rivatuner for your own situation. The 8th post tells you how to make fan values editable.
My evga 8800GT stock edition is 58c under load with the fan on 96%. In idle, it's 52c...
I am using GeminII to cool a overclocked E2140 with a case fan on top of it. I am considering buying another fan to place on top of it and returned the case fan to the case.
The fan's power source is my question. Should I use the 3-pin cpu_fan power on mobo or a power strip from psu to drive...

Briefly, OpenGL is updated by updating video card driver. Newer OpenGL version includes more approved OpenGL extensions or new abilities. If a card claims that it supports OpenGL X.X, it means the vendor implements all...
You mean Overstock.com???
Dell is not in the merchandise list anymore, just like newegg. (check here) The deal for both of them only last for two hours. In another thread, ppl already got cash back from Dell.(check here) And I already got newegg cash back. So I think the deal for both of them...
I just realized the same thing.
Paypal says since Dell didn't charge me during the promotion time, my order is not qualified for 20% off. So in this situation, maybe it's better if they charged me once I put my order.
I feel like an idiot because there were several 8800gt available in the...
I love this site for one reason: It has a deal section which is focus on computer components, so I don't have to be overwhelmed by other kind of information.
Sold out already.
I just called paypal. They said my order of xfx 8800gt from Dell on 11/26 was not qualified for 20% off because Dell didn't charged me at that time:mad:
So the price would be total $250.52.
I feel like an idiot for waiting these days. I should jump on newegg when they...
I am going to have AMD x2 4000+ and 8800gt.
My purpose is getting a budget good mobo. After I tried to find one, I found it's quite interesting. There are cheap mobos, which also have good reviews, but they all have build-in videos. More specifically, they are all micro-ATX. I thought the cost...
I have a question.
I ordered a CM-690 and a antec 550w psu. The psu has a fan at the bottom, and it has to be placed at the bottom of the case. In that way, the fan is being blocked.
Just like hx520 pics here http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1031549729&postcount=104
Will this be a problem?
I am going to build a rig with amd x2 4000+, which is 10 x 200 = 2.0Ghz. After reading some post about FSB:ram, I understand 1:1 is the best. So does that mean a DDR2-100 is enough for me?
If I bought DDR2-667 or DDR2-800, should I set the mem frequency down to 100 in BIOS to achieve 1:1...
