I am using GeminII to cool a overclocked E2140 with a case fan on top of it. I am considering buying another fan to place on top of it and returned the case fan to the case.

The fan's power source is my question. Should I use the 3-pin cpu_fan power on mobo or a power strip from psu to drive the fan on top of my GeminII?

Generally, you should use the CPU header when available. Some mobo's freak if they get no signal from there. Also, it keeps you from having to remember what you plugged your fan into.

That being said, I power an exhaust PWM fan from my CPU header, b/c both the fans on my GeminII are on a fan controller.

I use a pair of 3 pin 120mm fans on my Gemini II. I wired them together, but only use the tach wire from one fan. The A8N32-SLI deluxe supports up to 18 watts or more on one header, so Im fine running multiple fans per header.
