I recommend playing through the first one. The stories aren't really related but a lot of the characters carry over. It's just a great game, and if you enjoy the Witcher 2, you'll probably want to play through the first game but will bummed because the graphics aren't nearly as good.
Deus Ex is amazing. My only advice is to get perks that allow you to explore and take hidden paths. If you try to play it as a shooter, you'll probably get bored quickly (at least that's what happened to me).
I used to be into competitive multiplayer shooters, but I've moved away from them because I don't spend nearly as much time gaming anymore. Now I'm mostly into story-driven RPGs with great combat -- games like the Witcher and Mass Effect.
I'm a bit skeptical of the open-world setting because I find it makes RPGs less focused and less story-driven. Here's hoping that CD Projekt can pull it off.
I hope it's more like Doom 3 and not like Rage. I actually love sci-fi corridor crawls with shotguns and heavy weapons. Besides, that's what id does best.
Nah, I'm just looking for a mod that will allow me to remove an item's enchantment so that I use a different enchantment without having to make a brand new item. All the items I want to change are vanilla items.
Does anyone else suffer from progressively dropping framerates? When I start a new session, everything runs really well, usually with a minimum of 60 FPS. About a half hour into the game things start to slow down, and by an hour, the game is basically unplayable (FPS around 30).
I don't think...
I've really enjoyed using this carriage mod which adds carriage services to all of the major cities in Skyrim: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8544
I started using this when I realized that fast traveling was ruining the game for me. Now, I try to avoid fast traveling unless I'm completing a...

Battlefield 3 is available for $10 too: http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-BF3/battlefield-3
Just curious: Do people still play CQ and AK, or are they pretty much dead?
I usually just stick to one multiplayer game and one single-player game. Occasionally, I'll play two single-player games at a time if I'm working on a big strategy game or RPG.
I'm beginning to think I should start playing more games at once. Whenever I approach the end of a single-player...
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
I was looking for a stealth-based game after enjoying Deus Ex: HR so much. Chaos Theory fit the bill pretty well, even though it's a bit old. It's a shame the other games in the series don't hold a candle to it.
I had a lot of fun with it for a few months, but being a relatively mindless game, it became boring after the initial wow factor wore off. Back to Counter Strike now :D
I've heard that Amazon will permanently ban an account if it receives too many returns. Has anyone experienced this or know how many items (or what % of purchases) you need to return in order to be banned?
The only thing scary about Dead Space was the horrendous mouse acceleration that you couldn't turn off.
I'd have to say that Amnesia was the scariest game I've played, particularly the Choir level.
Yeah, I found a comparison online and the differences are virtually undetectable. The full version is definitely not worth the FPS costs if you have < 2gb of VRAM.

Well, I got the SR850s today, and I'm very impressed with them. They are quite comfortable, very lightweight, and cool on my ears. Also, I don't get any interference problems with them. This leads me to speculate that the cause of my HARX900's interference problems is its relatively high...
Does anyone know if there's a big difference between the full 2K texture pack and the light version? I'm hitting my VRAM limit (1gb), and I'm not sure if I should put Skyrim on hold until I upgrade.
Yeah, I tried the extension cable that came with my CALs, but it didn't make a difference. I do still wonder if it's my particular headset that is causing problems because my HARX700s don't have this issue, and they seem to be very similar to the 900s.
Yeah, I noticed that the SR850 appear to use poor pads just from the pictures I've seen. I've never modded headphones, but I'm certainly interested in it. I've ordered the SR850s and am going to see how I like them and whether they have interference. If they don't have any noticeable...
I'm curious why the CALs didn't have the interference issue. I'd like to try the SR850 simply because they are so highly regarded here and because I think semi-open headphones are cooler on my ears. I'm assuming you've tried on both the HARX900 and SR850. How would they compare in comfort? How...
I tested the HARX900s on my laptop and had the same interference problems, and I don't think I can (nor want to) upgrade my laptop's sound card in addition to my desktop's. So I'm now deciding between trying the SR850 or just getting the HARX700 again. I found the HARX900s to be extremely...
Ok, so I ordered the HARX900s and have used them for a few hours. They are much more comfortable than the CALs and sound great, but I'm getting some interference problems. For instance, there's a very subtle humming noise in the background at all times, and when I perform certain actions (such...
This thread is making me realize just how much 2012 sucked compared to 2011, when we had Skyrim, Deus Ex, Arkham City, Witcher 2, Portal 2, Amnesia, BF3, etc.
Anyway, I'd have to say Mass Effect 3, as sloppy and rushed as its ending was.
I found a really good deal on the CALs on BF, so I picked them up. However, I find them too tight, especially around the ears -- much worse than my HARX700s
I'm very tempted to just order the HARX700 again, but I am itching to upgrade. Also, I'm interested in trying open headphones since they...
Ok, you guys convinced me to avoid melee-focused characters for now. I guess I'm a bit paranoid about being stuck with a character I don't like because I played Oblivion and Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360, where there are no mods. I keep forgetting that the PC version is a lot more sophisticated than...
I don't really have a preference between stealth, combat, or magic. However, I do know that in previous Bethesda games, some playing styles were simply more fun than others. For instance, in Oblivion, the ranged and magic combat systems seemed relatively poor compared to the melee combat...
Yes, but Witcher 1 is a great game, and it's only $2.50 right now, so you might consider picking it up. However, it's a very long game (at least 30 hours), so it may not be worth playing if you just want to understand the background of Witcher 2.
Download D3DOverider and force vsync and triple buffering through it. That should solve any problems with vsync.
