I finally got around to doing this tonight. Metadata removal went well...I think. I did get an error when it was done. Here is my metadata log. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a2TnsCpbGOgdSbER449UxLjrZGakHfKUpe7KlqWNsmY/edit?hl=en&authkey=CPP-zo0J
After this, I deleted the problem server...
Since I haven't had much luck on my own and much googling, I'm preparing to just dcpromo Server B and start over. From what I understand, it should go like this. Let me know if I'm missing something.
1. dcpromo /forceremoval on Server B
2. Run metadata cleanup on Server A. I'll be using this...
That was one of the first things I checked. Unfortunately, there are no virtual NIC's. Only 2 physical NIC's and one of them is disabled. I even tried swapping NIC's but was unsuccessful.
Event log has this:
ID: 13508 Source NtFrs
The File Replication Service is having trouble enabling replication from Server A to Server B for c:\windows\sysvol\domain using the DNS name Server A.domain FRS will keep retrying.
Following are some of the reasons you would see this warning...
We have 2 servers. Server A is our primary DC that is also a file server and VPN server. Server B was our Exchange and secondary DC that had Exchange decommissioned last year since we moved to hosted services. The other admin tried to install vmware 2.0 on Server B. It installed and then he went...
Hi, I have a remote user that is connecting Outlook 2007 to an Exchange 2003 box with rfc over http. Since yesterday he has been getting intermittent "connection to exchange has been lost. Outlook will restore the connection when possible". Event ID 26 is also being logged. I duplicated the...
Only have experience with TZ200. Kinda complicated getting custom ports opened up at first. After about a week the internet would go down. Only a power cycle of the router fixed it. This would happen for weeks while trying to get support to figure it out. Ended up getting a second one for failover.
I have a user that upgraded his Office 2004 to Office 2008 Business. Entourage Web Services Edition was installed and this is not compatible with Exchange 2003. He doesn't remember if there was a separate update for Web Services Edition. We know that Entourage 2008 will work with 2003 but we...
I worked for an IT company that only proactively maintained servers that were in our rackspace. Another colo that I would get called out to was managed by the owners of the server. Only when they needed physical hands on the server were we called out.(reboot, install RAM, hands on...
I've no experience with modifying those settings. Is there a setting I should be aiming for? I'm quite busy this weekend but will give it a shot Monday.
This is my first PC build. Just picked up all my parts for my new build today and everything went together nicely. I have Windows 7 Ultimate x32 x64 burned from an ISO which installed successfully on my Dell Latitude D410 laptop. It starts loading files and then errors out.
The error I'm...
Was this laptop a rebuild? What I mean is, was a user profile transfered to this system? Had that happen to me once where I didn't copy everything over correctly like ntuser.dat. I could map the network drives then it would lose it completley.
I'm also having this problem. Replaced power supply and cd-rom only reads certain music cd's. It says 'insert disk' on one particular cd. The cd works in other computers. I'm stumped.
Ok. I was able to get to the other machines at work. Turns out I had to change my default gateway to something other than the gateway at work. So...instead of 192.168.1.1, had to change it to 192.168.0.1. After that, I was able to RDP into the computers. Still can't map drives but this works.
Here's the deal. I am connecting fine to my work network through VPN. What I need to do once I get in, is map a network drive so I can retrieve some files and do some work at home. While connected, I can't ping any of the servers at work, only the VPN server. I asked a coworker how to do it and...
I had the same problem. During the XP install, I got a message saying 'windows was does not detect a hard disk'. So I installed the SATA drivers by pressing F6 and still no go. What I did was go into BIOS and go to 'drives'. Select SATA and enable it. Reboot and see if it works.
While online today, my AVG anti-virus detected a Trojan virus and instructed me to run AVG if I want to remove it. I ran AVG and it didn't detect anything. I tried some free online virus scanners and they didn't detect it either. Any thing I can do to remove it? I didn't pay attention to what...
Ok, I got it working. What I had to do was go into BIOS and select 'drives', go down to SATA and enable SATA/ATA and Windows installs after that. This is NOT a default setting.
Just got a Dell Dimension 8400 yesterday. Went to partition the 80G drive for my needs and used fdisk to delete partitions. I popped in my XP recovery disk and it started to load some files then got to a point where it prompts 3 options. Install XP, Repair XP, and some other option. I select to...
Get the Linksys WRT54G. You can do all sorts of things with it if you upgrade the firmware.
