As interesting as your problem is, remember, we were all freshmen at one point. You KNOW that if you were in their shoes you would be posting a thread that says "That annoying sys admin won't let us use safari! >:( -cliffs at bottom". Just sayin', look at it from both sides.....both sides...
Just so you know, tracking is faster and more detailed with this tool:
http://isnoop.net/tracking
I used that to track my macbook pro, and it was more detailed than the actual fedex site.
I got mine on thursday this week, and I've been enjoying it. First laptop, first mac, and I haven't really noticed any issues yet. I'm not a mac person especially, I still have a pretty sweet desktop pc that I use, I just really liked the hardware. I got a 2.33ghz/2 GB Ram/160GB HD/Matte...
I voted matte because I ordered one on tuesday, and that's what I ordered. Glossy is nice, but I'll be using it under fluorescent lights a lot, and I hear that's a nightmare. Plus matte is a sure thing, glossy has yet to prove itself for me.
Okay, this is a bit of a silly question, but I'm just being paranoid. I have 2 SATA seagate barracuda's plugged into the same RAID controller of my asus A8N motherboard, but they're not RAID striped, they're just set up as independent disks (JBOD). I just got a 3rd hard drive, which will be...
Hahahha, we actually have an SGI workstation at work too, running IRIX. Too bad it sucks balls now. Fun story, 2 summers ago it was so damn hot that one of our other SGI's actually MELTED. The motherboard was sagging and melty, and it was dead as a doornail. Good times.
Therein lies my concern. I do a lot of scientific work, with programs like Amber, Gaussian, and MOE (www.chemcomp.com), so having a processor that's 10% faster can mean shaving hours or days off of long, arduous calculations.
Thanks for the tidbits so far though.
I'm sure that I'm not alone in saying that I was really disappointed at the lack of a "Merom's are going inside the Macbook Pro" announcement at the WWDC. I was really geared up to buy one, but with the possibility of a hardware upgrade so close, I can't really justify buying one now. I know...
Wow, totally didn't know about the PBJ-100. And while you're right about the creating technicality, I guess I was just trying to quell the "Creative stole the ipod from apple" murmurings.
I dunno if people are generally aware of this, but creative invented the hard disk mp3 player with the original nomad. It was still in the shape of a panasonic shockwave mp3 player, not the square form factor we're used to today, but they did come up with it first. Their navigation interface...
Forgot about that one, tha'ts everywhere too. And 25% of people who have that poster have seen animal house, at least where I go to school. I've honestly had the following conversation:
Me: "Hey, sweet animal house, alright!"
Guy w/ poster: "Huh?"
Me: O_o.....The movie....
Guy: Oh...
Is anyone else lol'ing at the number of scarface posters in these pics? Your typical college dorm has posters of one or all of the following:
a) the two chicks making out ("kiss" poster)
b) scarface
c) bob marley
d) dave matthews
e) napoleon dynamite
f) periodic table of alcoholic...
I just upgraded a whole bunch of pc parts over the weekend, and I went from an antec Sonata 1 to a P180. I also have a 7800gt from a 6800gt. WIth 3 nexus fans, a zalman cpu cooler, and a zalman graphics cooler, I can't hear jack. It's insane. I didn't think it could get quieter than my...
Oh I'll reformat, I just need it to live until the first long weekend I can find. Otherwise I guess I can always stay up all weekend and git 'r done. Hopefully it'll work this way. Thanks, later guys.
Hello all. I currently run an athlon 64 3500+ in an asus a8v deluxe with a geforce 6800gt. I'm switching to pci-express, so I'm picking up an a8n-sli premium and a 7800gt. It's highly doubtful, but I was wondering if it would be possible to keep my current install of windows and just swap the...
I've been waiting for this deal forever. I just bought one of each, the one that I find more suited to my needs I will keep, and my father gets the other one. :D Finally!
Actually, what you'll want is this:

I've been an active member at cdfreaks for years, these guys made a custom firmware that will give you higher quailty burns on all media, and auto-bitset any DVD+R's to dvd-rom in any program. Other than...
I think the process you're thinking of is bitsetting a DVD+R to a DVD-Rom, which I do all the time. First things first, what kind of burner do you have? Make and model number please and thank you.
Hey all. I was wondering if someone could reccommend a good, free, reliable piece of software that acts as an alarm clock by playing MP3's at a designated time. If it had cool stuff like weekly repeatable alarms, that'd be great. I found several such programs, but they've been unreliable if...
I got one of these for ~600 bux Canadian back when they first came out, and it's absolutely fabulous. I have no reservations in recommending this to anyone even remotely considering it. Great panel.
I know it feels bad, but just sorta bend 'n pull. That's what I did for my asus a8v deluxe, and it's been awesome ever since. I have the 7000 on there now, and I know I haven't regretted it! Just start pulling a bit, I promise you won't break it.
Oh man, the number of mixtapes and taped cd's I have from my adolescence is extremely large. It fills 2 tape holders, it's in excess of 50. I remember I used to play SNES listening to a cd so I'd know when to flip the tape and start again on the other side. So yes, that just further...
Hey guys. I currently have a Samsung 172x LCD. In case you're not familiar with this specific model, it's a 17-inch panel with the following stats:
Native Resolution: SXGA (1280 x 1024)
Pixel Pitch: 0.264 mm
Brightness: 270 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 500 : 1
Response Time: 12 ms
It's been...
I think another reason might have to do with the generation that you belong to. I, being aged 20, was an adolescent, perhaps in my early teens i'm not quite sure, when Napster first came out. The fact that it was possible to get music for free back then before any perspective existed on the...
Holy sh**. I've been waiting for this forever, this may acutally be the time to jump on this monitor. If all of a sudden I decide I don't like it, can I send it back for a full refund in the 21 day grace period?
WTF, how is that worth counting down to? To throwback to an earlier post, that'd be like if after gillette came out with the mach 3, they had a countdown secret super duper awesome promotion on their site to say their razor had 3 blades. I hope that's not true.
Oh no, here comes a huge s***storm of RMA ethical flame-bashing. Let me be the first to politely and calmly tell you that what you've done is not covered under your warranty/RMA policy. You had to mod it to add the waterblock to it, so game over there. Also, the damage that was done to it was...
