Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

They nerfed the content in Inferno so it's easier, aka more beatable, but made the repair costs higher so people have to beat it legitimately rather than graveyard zerg over and over to kill elites.

Basically, the long and short of it is, if you are dying over and over, you

A) Aren't using the right strategy
B) Don't have good enough gear

Well, lets see... last night I did the butcher run. From Highlands Crossing to the end. Out of all elite / champion packs only _two_ were not reflecting damage. My repair costs were about 100k and the income from the drops was less than 50k. Got one 'upgrade' - ilvl 61 ring with +70 life and +200 dps over my previous lvl45 ring.

F this game.

How the hell were your repair costs 100k?

You need to step back, and re-evaluate. Farm gold some other way if you can, or change your skills.

B) Don't have good enough gear

A) I am sick and tired of Blizzard and others telling me how to play the game.

B) You can only get ilvl61-62-63 gear by running inferno .. so without the gear you are going to die lots.

Fail patch is fail

I don't know, but reflect damage was never that bad and I've never seen so many elite packs having it. Before patch I did the butcher run multiple times and maybe saw 1 or 2 reflecting packs. After 1.0.3 is it other way around by some reason. And the reflect seems completely broken - I cast a blizzard on 3 elites and my character explodes with a fountain of red numbers flying in all directions.

100k repairs are from 3 completely broken sets (from repaired to red).

Because you're taking reflect damage from 3 targets from blizzard. I don't believe that's broken. I haven't heard anything about it being broken.

I did a butcher run last night, although I started at the Halls of Agony Level 2. Didn't really have any issues. I died a few times on the butcher, but that was due to bad rolls on which tiles caught fire.

If you're so worried about reflect damage and don't have enough hp then use Diamond Skin with the increased damaged absorb rune.

You're right, they were trying to discourage that by making death more costly.

Problem is now its affecting everyone, as we do sometimes die at higher difficulty, and the equipment degrades anyway regardless of whether we die or not. So now repairing is becoming a huge burden, and its keeping the newer or lower level players from gearing up their character as we're now spending too much golds on repairing.

So we can't gear up, and not being able to gear up continues to drain all our gold.
Its a dead end.

I did two full Act1 runs last night after the patch. With about 220% MF with 5 stacks, about a third to half of the drops I was getting were rares. I was getting two to four rares per champion pack. This was on a Loh/Attack Speed monk, which was obviously nerfed a lot, but I was still able to finish it with about 2 deaths all night. Not really a big deal. Repair costs were low, I think the most I got hit with was like 8k during a 'bags are full, go salvage and repair' run. Easily made back just by selling the crafting mats from the increased drops. Overall, good patch.

hey all I am looking for people to play inferno with. I have a witch doctor, and I am to weak to handle it by myself.

thanks in advance

Was that just from one run? If so, that's not indicative of very much. I did 1 Act I run yesterday and ran into like 3 packs of invulnerable minions. I don't expect that to happen again any time soon though.

Im mixed on this new patch. The repairs costs are annoying. I think I am now in the negative for the day because I keep havign to repair for 40k.

Inferno got easier, but I still die pretty fast. Drops are better, but Siegebreaker is impossible for me to kill as DH now because of the reflect damage and lack of IAS now....

Hmmm.... How are we supposed to kill siegebreaker if any hits we do to him kills us.... Stack life steal? Retarded.

Haha 1.0.3 is basically an anti-range patch. If there's any melee complaining about repair costs - remember you asked for this sht hahah. Regarding reflect - I already picked up a cheap 800dmg/925 LoH for reflect mobs a week ago, so this wasn't too big a deal. The problem of course is that it was feasible with the triple-tick of NT. BoL is nowhere near the damage of NT when it comes to large single targets, so no surprise that Blizzard didn't touch it. I tried to use Chakrams again yesterday...but man it is really clunky.

With my dex/IAS, I dropped about 4K (from 26K to 22K, non-SS numbers of course). The biggest thing is how much this hurts hatred regen. I have no desire to burn a spot with bat, but I may consider looking for additional hatred regen on cloak and bow now (whereas now it's just quiver).

@spider - Haha most of the time people want to party up with others who pull their own weight. Might be easier for you to stay in Act3 Hell until you're ready tbh. I don't have good bead on repair costs (I died once in Act1 Inferno yesterday, very rarely happen pre 1.0.3); but I would say any more than a few deaths you might want to reconsider the difficulty now.

I don't like the way the game was before but I was getting level 61 gear at times in Hell Act III and Hell Act IV. It wasn't all the time mind you but enough that I was pretty happy until the Oppressors in Hell Act IV started one shotting me and I had to upgrade a couple items off the AH last night. I could have done the 5 stacks of Nephalem thing and farmed Act III a bit more, but to tell you the truth I'd rather see what Inferno is all about. All my friends have quit so solo play is where it is at.

5 stacks + kill elite packs = multiple golds with a few being level 61.

Fail patch is fail

You can get ilvl 61 and 62 items in Hell now. If you are dying a lot in inferno, a Hell Diablo run takes me 20-25 minutes to get 5 stack NV and kill Diablo on my Barb. If Act 1 Inferno is killing you over and over then do some Hell runs until you have better gear or figure out a better build.

The patch took 8k off my DPS, due to the IAS nerf and also broke zombie bears. Blizzard has stated they won't fix zombie bears until 1.0.4 which they state does not have a release date yet.

This patch is a massive failure.

Is that repair costs from death, or just standard wear on your gear?

If it's standard wear that's retarded.

If you were dying a lot... well... my point from before stands.

1) If you are using a strategy that results in you dying a lot how is that Blizzards fault? They made the game easier this patch.

2) You can get ilvl 61 gear in A3/A4 Hell now.

How do you have 3 complete sets of gear that are awesome? Fuck I am still struggling to improve my one set of gear outside of my MF gear.

What's wrong with Zombie bears?

They royally fucked the pathing makes it almost useless now.

I rerolled to a Monk since my GF wants to play DH. Having a blast so far :) Picked up gear for him already on the GAH for extremely cheap. Also flipped a few items for 3-4x their cost that I paid. It's slightly addicting :p

Also I ran A1 with my DH last night, wasn't that bad at all even vs mortar or reflect damage. I lost about 4k DPS but we all know that number is totally inflated due to IAS. I use an xbow so it's not that bad.

I also swapped to Impale + frost arrow instead of NT. I seem to destroy crap just as fast in A1. Definitely not going to solo A2/A3 now though due to repair costs.....

Initial observations:

-Drops for me after patch are worse, they were already bad before lol.
-Repair bill is crazy; will be going out of my way to try to die less now. Unsure of psychological effects of this.

2 cool things about the NT nerf:

-All the FotM kiddies are rerolling Barb. More DH gear on the AH!
-It allows us to try different builds (well at least until the next cookie-cutter spec is found).

But it's kinda nice seeing all the people that relied soley on NT to kill shit in Inferno quit the game because "fuk blizz dh is ruined".

Um.. you don't know there's town portal and you can repair your gear at any time?
Why would I carry 3 sets of gear on me? That's stupid.

No he's saying that he can't even get one 1 of good gear whereas you claim to have 3.

If you're making less money than you are making then there are a few possibilities.
You're farming the wrong area, you don't have the gear to farm that area.
You're farming the wrong area, you don't have the skill to farm that area.
You just need to learn to play.

It's unfortunate that they raised the repair costs because that means they didn't figure out how to use death as a learning tool effectively. Death (in video games) should be a learning tool, not an incovenience. It should be, you fucked up, or currently don't have the gear to progress, get better or get better gear and try again. It should not be wait 30 seconds and continue to graveyard rush said mob. I was stuck on belilal and diablo inferno for a few hours, and I overcame the challenge by rebuilding my skills and trying new things, not by spending money on the GAH/RMAH(I didn't get a single upgrade in the window of first reaching those bosses and killing them). Now the repair costs do not encourage trying new things, they just lead people to cry about it on the internets.

There was a lot to learn to progress through inferno, and many QQers never learned those things. People never learned to try builds that worked best for them, and only gravitated to build that they saw online and accepted them as the only viable builds. People think that all gear has to have high dps an high armor, so all gear has to cost 1m+ or $$ to be viable in inferno. By the comments on this thread and on bnet, you'd think that inferno took people's first born and held them random until they used the RMAH. RMAH and gah aren't required to clear inferno, they just speed up the process. It's even less of an issue now with the nerfs and drop range buff.

As a glass cannon kind of guy I'm glad siegebreaker has damage reflect. Maybe my fellow glass cannoniers will learn to construct a defensive set and mix/match according to the situation.

I said 3 completely broken sets... meaning broke the whole set 3 times to red because of excessive dying to those reflect elites.

Okay, but that's not out it came out nor was interpreted. You could've just said I completely broke my set 3 times and it cost around 100k in total repairs.

Not

I broke 3 sets.

That means you completely broke 3 sets of gear.

I could be wrong however.

I dinged 60 on my barb right before the patch and spent a lil money on him so I could jump into inferno (wish i would have waited till after patch, gear is easy mode now) I went all the way to act 2 quest 7 without dieing, found about 6mil in drops (lucky ammy) so far Im loving this patch.. A lot of the people upset are just undergeared.. Inferno isnt for everyone.

Oh well. No fun in playing D3 any longer. Every single one I played with have abandoned the game as well.

It is not the new amazing patch, it´s the game. None of us (group of 4 friends) are having fun with it any longer. 230 hours and not one legendary item. Stuck in Act 1 inferno because I dont play Auction House 3. Grind is tedious, gold is scarce and repair cost the new wall of despair.

Did get a lot of hours out of the game, but mostly long boring hours of REPETITION. If this is any indicator of future Blizzard game creation capability, this is it for me.

In case nobody knows this.. any blue that is ilvl61+, should be salvaged and not vendered for the most profit. The inferno essences sell for 2k+ on the AH(and they go fast). Most of these blues vender under 1k so its worth it.

Too bad. Sounds like you and your friends met the dark side of random world drops. I've spent less than 100 hours and found 3 legendaries.

Did you not play D2 at all?:confused: If you didn't then I'd understand your complaints and mark them as valid.

If you did...uniques didn't drop like candy in D2 like some people are making it sound....and I had a nearly maxed MF sorc.....Or if you played ladder and didn't play retard OP builds (cough hammerdin cough) then you were in the same position you are in A1 inferno. You'd have to grind grind grind to get gear to progress in hell.
