So my PC suddenly stopped working for a while and everytime I would reset, it would NOT POST and just stayed there...
eventually I swapped the card with an older one and the PC worked fine...
now my question is, if the PC didnt POST at all with the 9800, would that mean it's dead or could...
how will PC hardware compare with XBOX Next's hardware by the time it comes out?
Will the PC have some catching up to do? If so, how long do you think it'll take?
If not, what superior PC hardware will be out by then?
well not exactly an "issue" but I dont know if i should be complaining or not and wether this is RMA worthy...
i bought TWO sticks of Mushkin RAM... both of what I believed to be the exact same stick
(http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-219&depa=0)
i ordered...
being that I dont have a temp monitor on the card to tell if it's okay or not, my only option is to try and find the best way to see if it's stable or not.
I currently have it on 432/378 (Ati Silencer and OCZ ramsinks) with AtiTool doing artifact scanning.... none so far...
can anyone...
i cant decide which to get?
which would be better at cooling my 9800 Pro? (R360) I really want to get the ATI Silencer because it's cheaper and easier to install, but if the Zalman is a lot better at cooling, I'd like to get that... even though the installation looks like a pain.
I have no idea what this means. I know that it's best to have your OC/RAM (or something) at 1:1, but what exactly does it mean? can anyone tell me if i'm at "1:1"???
Athlon-M XP 2400+ @ 2.2Ghz (11x200 @ 1.75V)
512MB Mushkin pc3200 @ 2.5-3-3-11
Shuttle AN35N nForce 2 Ultra
if not, what...
i was wondering if there are any such mods that involve soldering when it somes to something like a video card or mobo or something. the only thing i've ever used solder on my Radeon was when a capacitor fell off :\. anything that increases perofrmance? or maybe some way to add a temp probe onto...
i'm planning on getting whatever i need to network two computers to use DSL thru AOL, but i've heard that not all routers will work because AOL uses some sort of special connection method or something? If anyone has ever networked on AOL, i'd like some advice and how much it would be with what...
I'm thinking of getting either one of these for my Retail Radeon 9800 Pro, and was wondering which would be better if i were to consider overclocking sometime in the future. there would be an 80mm side fan blowing on it and a PCI fan exhausting.
p.s. How would I be able to tell if I can flash...
i have a Viewsonic A90f that's recently started to dim down a bit (soehwat of a quick pulsating thing) during normal use and more noticably when I start up Call of Duty UO once in a while. would anyone know what would be the cause of this? Power issue?
preferrably the cheapest, yet most reliable?
i had NAV and stopped using it after a trail version or AVG found about 4 virii that NAV didnt catch.
are there any better options out there? maybe a top 3 list for each?
wow, ever since i adjusted my pots on the fortron 530, my temps went from:
46-47C idle, 53C load
to:
40C idle, 45C load
wuuuuuuut? they probably arent, but i cant think of any other explanation for it.
I started off with 11.70V on an AMD xp-M 2400+ @ 2.2Ghz (200x11 -- 1.75V) and have since adjusted pots to a nice steady 12.30V on a fortron 530 PSU.
would this allow me to lower my Vcore on the CPU? forgive me if this is a stupid question, but i figured that since the 12V rail is no longer...
I've read the faq on how to read Voltage on the PSU but dont know if theres anything on reading the A's on a PSU?
I hear the true value on it SHOULD be 28A but Fortron claims 18A or something on 12V rails and I assume this is after adjusting pots?
Do I just set it to DCA rather than DCV? 200?
all of a sudden my 2nd hard drive D: is in RAW format and I cant access it anymore! Its the drive I use to save ALL my downloads, granted SOME have been backed up, theres at least 40 gigs of stuff thats gone down the drain.
now, the computer still knows what drive it is and all, so i dont...
my voltage readings on MBM are WAY off of what theyre supposed to be at. my BIOS on the other hand reads them just like they should be.
should i just trust my BIOS readings rather than MBM? I dont know wether more juice is used after windows boots up or not.
Does it matter how you install a PSU? The Fortron 530 has its cables towards the panel window when installed rightside up and I was thinking of flipping it over so it'll be easier to hide with the wiring. I'm asking this because I feel maybe the heat would rise AWAY from the heatsinks if upside...
Are these necessary when overclocking? They look pretty rad paired up with Zalman HSF's, but I'm wondering if this is mostly a WANT rather than a NEED. Sure it'll help lower temps, but is it worth it rather than the regular heatsinks?
what would be the best way to set up a smartfan on a CPU heatsink (silent boost)?
i'm not very satisfied with 2700 RPMS the Tt fan is putting out. when the smart fans are set up for exhaust they only run at 2600 RPM and doesnt really go up much because theyre thermally controlled...
I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything that would help reduce the noise all 6 of my case fans are making. i dont want to reduce speeds because i need the cooling. anything on newegg? i dont know what to search for?
i dont know if I'm gonna word this correctly but bare with me.
I'll use a 45W Athlon 2400+ Mobile XP overclocked to 2.2Ghz as an example.
How is it that on some systems, people can run it at, say, 1.6V and be Prime95 stable, and then someone else has to run it at maybe 1.75 or 1.8V to do...
so ever since i recieved the PSU from newegg, i've been having an odd problem. first bootup was fine... and then after i turn it off and try to turn it on again, it would power up for HALF a second and shut back down. multiple tries and nothing! seems as if i have to actually unplug the psu for...
These cases where you can place the HD's sideways for easy access dont seem to help much with airflow in these Raidmax Scorpio's (and anything else with that setup). theyre totally blocking flow from the two front intakes!
is there anything you guys do to remedy this situation?
i went from idling at 48-49C (CPU) and 42-44C (case) and got the Scorpio hoping its 6 fans would greatly reduce temps but it seems I was wrong.
now i'm up to 49-51C CPU idle and 45-47C case! what gives? are the fans that come with the case known to suck? i have 10 Speeze 80mm fans that I can...
or do they suck air AWAY? i'm trying to figure out wether i should flip the fan over on my silent boost...
how good are two rear exhaust fans if the fan on the CPU is blowing on the cpu? wouldnt that sort of be canceling out the air being circulated above the CPU?
I'm getting a new Raidmax Scorpion soon and was wondering if i could paint the inside with some sort of auto paint? would the extra coat of paint sort of insulate it more? the default hray thing just isnt hot. :P
i currently have an Antec 300W PSU thats running:
AMD 2400+ XP @ 2.2Ghz (200x11v -- 1.775V) (Prime95 stable 10hrs)
Thermaltake Silent Boost HSF
Mushkin pc3200 512mb (2.5-3-3-7)
Radeon 9800 Pro Stock
30GB and 80GB hard drives
Lite On CD Burner
DVD ROM
5 fans
lately my games have been...
So last night I decide to up my SHUTTLE AN35N settings to "Aggressive" and seems Prime95 doesnt find it very stable anymore. I need suggestions at what I should do to make it a bit (or A LOT) more stable.. here are my specs and what settings theyre currently on:
AMD 2400+ Mobile @ 2.2Ghz...
I've got an old GF4 sitting around that crapped out on me about a year ago. i never figured out what was wrong with it. when it, my computer POSTS normally (1 beep), and then thats it. windows doesnt load. blank screen. maybe the VGA connection is burned out? should i connect it to DVI? or is...
So I was reading my Dec 2003 (?) issue of Maximum PC and their mod contest had someone using an actual turbocharger used on cars to cool his system. is this really possible? anyone ever consider it?
I currently have an AMD 2400+ overclocked to 3200+ speeds (200x11.0 @ 1.70v). There are 2 80mm fans on the back blowing out (I cant tell wether one is or not though) and a PCI fan blowing out near the video card. the CPU has a Thermaltake Silent Boost Copper HSF w/ Artic 5 paste.
typically I...
i just installed my amd 2400+Mobile into a Shuttle "AN35N-Ultra" with mushkin 3200 512mb RAM...
the system POSTS and i can go into BIOS and all, but when i try and load windows XP pro, it just gois into the BSOD saying to use FDISK to check for errors or viruses or something... i cant even go...
