    Asrock z77 itx is out

Still running 4.6GHz here after a week. Zero issues. The 4.6GHz preset runs the 2600k at 1.40-1.41v peak so Prime95 puts the chip in the low 80's. I'm OK with it...since IB was released this 2600k has become disposable. If it dies it'll be a forced upgrade. :p With the fans pulled WAY back...

    Asrock z77 itx is out

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/194/img20110628210920.jpg You have to take a tiny bit of material (?1/16"?) off of one end of one of the adjustable mounts (the rounded end closest to the CPU). Once you mock it up you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

    Asrock z77 itx is out

AXP-140 works fine on this board. You have to grind off just a tiny bit of the backplate. The MSATA isn't the issue (it barely clears) but there's a small chip next to it that gets into the backplate's personal space. On the topside there's a cap right next to the PCI-Ex slot that I'm sure is...

    Asrock z77 itx is out

I'm going to be swapping my ASRock Z68 for the Z77 here later tonight. I have an AXP-140 so we'll see how it goes. I'll report back.

    Silverstone SG08 @ Computex

I had strange chirps out of my SG07's power supply for like a week or two (started about a month after I got it) then they went away. Quiet as a mouse for months now. GTX590 and a OC'ed 2600k so I'm leaning on it hard.

Far Cry 2. Absolutely not engaging for me.

My GTX 590 is bottlenecking my system

OK...single slot was a misnomer. Single card. 8XAA - Everything else pegged. 8XQ, 16X, and 16XQ aren't quite responsive enough to play with everything pegged.

My GTX 590 is bottlenecking my system

The 590 is a perfect substitute for both when you're after a quiet single slot solution. And besides...this surely isn't normal 590 performance. Mine chews right thru Crysis (and everything else for that matter) at 2560x1600. I can't imagine how easy it would have things at 1600x900.

    AXP-140 Fans

My SYSTIN runs at 34C at idle and 44C in CPUID Hardware Monitor while gaming with both the 180 & 140mm fans running at <80%. Occasionally I'll see 47C in a marathon session of Crysis or something similar. I have a duct I made to exhaust the 590's front GPU's heat so it doesn't build up in the...

    SilverStone SG07 - New Mini-itx case

I'm running a 140mm fan on an AXP-140 with a drive in the 3.5" bay. I'm using a 90* SATA cable. It's a tight fit but it works A-OK once you get it it all wedged in there.

    AXP-140 Fans

I know quite a few people run AXP-140's on small form factor systems so I figured I would share my experience with the fans I've tried on my AXP-140 2600k @ 4.3GHz on a ASRock Z68 in a SG07 case. AXP-140 Stock Fan - Since it's not PWM and locked at full speed I didn't even bother. I'm...

    BF3 @ 2560x1600 Ultra Preset Multiplayer FAIL

This. My single 590 blasts thru BF3 at 2560x1600 at Ultra...just disable deferred AA and run post. Deferred AA is a completely unnecessary (at 2560x1600) resource hog.

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

A few minutes at 4.3GHz? That's pretty good. I'm still on about 50 seconds with the Enzotech heatsinks. Games are no problem though, just like you said.

    Silverstone SG08 @ Computex

I guess you can call it "average" but you don't need more power in a case this size. I have the worse case scenario (GTX 590 & 2600k @ 4.3GHz) and with no issues. Although it's rated at 600w and has been tested up to 780w before shutting down due to overcurrent. BTW...I'm wondering if the...

ASUS ROG MARS II GTX 580 SLI Video Card Review @ [H]

Hmmm...this review was a cool read but I'm a little confused by the 590 bashing at the intro and conclusion. It's to be expected that the MARS II would be faster...after all - it costs as much as two 590's. Although I agree with the direction Nvidia took with the 590 I think they would have...

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

Usually benchmarks can't/won't 100% load a processor for 50+seconds. It's done great on the normal benches (WEI/Sisoft Sandra/3DMark11) so far. My CPU numbers fall right in line with all other 2600k's running 4.3GHz on full size Z68 boards.
  18. T

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

You got it. It'll work fine and never throttle on normal programs/games/apps. It just can't hang with an app like Prime95 for more than 30-50 seconds of full power. I've tried that max current edit in the UEFI and didn't have any luck but that was before the MOSFET heatsinks. Maybe worth...

580gtx 1.5vram SLI owners and BF3-need some input please

This. I have a GTX 590 on a 4.3GHz 2600k and it chews right thru the game at 2560x1600 while using (only) post process AA. I bet the MSAA is your issue. Personally, I don't mind the look of post process vs MSAA either.

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

To be clear - I am disappointed that the board is pretty much incapabable of supporting a 100% loaded overclocked 2600k for a significant amount of time. Even though I regularly log the multiplier while gaming (and never see an issue after the fact) it's always in the back of my head. Is it...

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

Mine overclocks just fine and never throttles in games, real world apps, and "normal" benchmarks like 3DMark and such. It only throttles when 100% loaded on all 4 cores/8 threads for extended periods. Nothing like using a system the size of shoebox to play BF3 with everything but MSAA on & maxed...

A real gaming system with Z68 and mATX form factor

Is that 87C at 3.0Ghz and higher? That's not good. With a AXP-140 on a 2600k I'm seeing 49-51C at 3.4GHz and 59-61C at 4.3GHz in CPUID Hardware Monitor. That's with a non-PWM Noctua 140mm fan on the middle speed (900rpm). Maybe try applying the thermal compund again?

    Silverstone SG08 @ Computex

I just jumped in both feet after reading the review I linked to. A little over 2 months of beating on it and so far so good. Backup plan was to go with that 800w Thermaltake and shorten the cabling.

    Silverstone SG08 @ Computex

Agreed...they're not an issue. And besides that you're not going to find a (much) more capable power supply that will fit. These guys managed to get 781w out of the SG07's power supply before it shut itself down: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/SilverStone-Sugo-SG07-Review/1064/7...

What was your first accelerated graphics card?

Voodoo 1 here. Diamond Monster 3D On a 233 MMX overclocked to 292 (yes that's MHz). I was quite pleased with the 83 Mhz bus...smokin fast! Damn I'm gettin' old!
  27. T

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

Well...if it's a desktop doing things that aren't critical just put it thru it's paces using normal programs/games for a few days and see if it has any issues (or if it throttles). That's the way we used to do it before they came up with all of the stability/burn-in programs. If you're using it...

    Successor to GTX590?

I only commented because I think you're seriously selling it short and making it sound like a complete product failure. It's not like its they re-marketed a 6800 in modern times or something. :p Consistently slower on most games - yep (usually not by much although there's a few games that it...

    Successor to GTX590?

Ugh. You're going to quantify the GTX 590 as a "poor performer?" Seriously?

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

It has 1.250, 1.325, 1.400, 1.475, & 1.545v settings (and all the way up to 1.8v on the high side).

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

I'm back up and running with the new Z68 board. I transfered over my old MOSFET coolers and added a few but I couldn't hit two of the CPU power MOSFETS due to the installation fixture of the new AXP-140 cooler. If I was at home I would have modded the heatsinks to make em shorter but I'm out on...

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

My board just died. In Prime95 I usually run "In-place large FFTs" but last night I decided to run "Blend" to stress the memory and it BSOD'ed after about 4-5 minutes. At the time my 2600k had settled into running at 3.4Ghz (occasionally recovering to 4.3Ghz). When I restarted the comp after the...

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

Ahhh...OK. With OE settings they usually won't stay in turbo mode (3.8GHz) for an extended amount of time (AFAIK I think that's due to the UEFI current protection). You should be able to get it to stay at 3.4GHz though. I asked because I thought it would have been weird if it stayed at 3.8GHz.
  34. T

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

So to clarify now you can maintain a solid 3.8Ghz (IE-Turbo) and it never throttles to 3.4GHz?

Vertex 3 performance issues and freezes

Vertex 3's are locked at 128C so no worries there. As far as the performance goes update to v2.13 firmware and if it still sucks then RMA. What you're seeing isn't the norm.

best speakers I can buy for 50-100 USD

I've had these for a couple months: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836110053 They sound great for the price. Only cons are the size & the rediculously bright power LED.

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

I just installed these on the MOSFETs. They're not a 100% fix but they were a significant improvement. On "Turbo 4.3GHz" mode in Prime95 it used to scale back to 3.4GHz after 20-30 seconds and I recorded right around 50 seconds now (CPUID Hardware Monitor shows 104-105W sustained) compared to...

    ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT

It's been running for quite a while now. I've found the same thing as you guys have...it throttles to 3.4GHz in Prime95 after about 20-30 seconds regardless of what clock you have it set at. I've tried a bunch of settings but I've settled on the generic "Turbo 4.3GHz" mode in the BIOS as it...
