Hi there [H]! I was thinking about upgrading one of the pc's on my home network to Vista Enterprise. The other computers on the network would remain using XP. Does anyone see any problems with this? Would I still be able to share files and printers on my network running the two different OS's on...
I'm using junk media most likely, Staples house brand...LOL. My burner is by Pacific Digital, here's the detail: http://www.pacificdigital.com/products.asp?gpcid=5&cid=31&scid=116&ItemID=111
Thanks for your help.
Can anyone give any tips on what indicates when a DVD burner is dieing? When I flip over my DVD's after they are burned, the coloring of the burn area isn't consistant. Also, when I play the DVD, the movie will get stuck then jump forward to a different chapter or backwards or start over from...
I'm sorry for wasting everyones time. After careful analysis, I found that the CPU needs power too, I forgot to plug it in. A big duh and again, I'm sorry.
Sorry for wasting everyones time. After a careful look at my power connections, I found the problem to more than simple. You know that little thing called the CPU? Well, it needs power and I forgot to plug it in. A big Duh! And again, I'm sorry.
Are you talking about the P4 connector that comes with a ATX12V PSU? I have that, but I don't think that plugs anywhere into the board I have. I have the 20 pin power plug connected, but that's a given that it has to be plugged. Thanks.
I haven't tried booting without the graphics card yet. This is worth a shot. Thanks. I've connected the P1 power cable, fan cables, the power switch cable and the LED cables to the mainboard. That's all of the power cables correct?
I just installed a new mobo and CPU and when I turn everything on I get no video signal to my monitor. With the previous mobo, I had disabled the integrated video port, because I had installed a graphics card into one of my PCI slots.
I have the PCI card installed on the new mobo, and I've...
I just replaced my mobo with a MSI mirco ATX. When I turn on the computer however, no monitor signal.
With the old mobo, I did have a ATI PCI graphics card installed. I had to diable the integrated video port, but this shouldn't matter for the BIOS screen should it? I have tried both the...
Sorry, I had that backwards. The PSU is 20+4, the new board is 20 pin. The current board I have in there now is a 20 pin, so I shouldn't have any issues with the PSU.
Ok, thanks for the replies!
The PSU I'm using is a Antec smartpower 2.0 350W ATX. It's a 20 pin connector.
Compaq isn't claiming it to be a mATX, the mainboard manual is calling the board a micro ATX size.
I will replace the CPU, so no worries there. I'm more concerned on whether or...
I have an HP Pavilion 743g with XP Home. I received a blue screen and I can't get into Windows at all, not even in safe mode. What are my options at this point? I know I will have to rebuild the machine, but I would like to get some files off of it before I format the HD and wipe it clean...
Is it possible to recover data from a hard drive that was in another computer? Is it possible to insert a drive into another computer and it simply run? If not, what process do I need to implement in order to recover information from the hard drive?
Thanks!
I've dugup an old Dell Latitude CPi laptop computer 300Mhz processor and 6 GB hard drive...the works baby! Fact is, this computer is just about new. It's been sleeping in a carrying case for many years.
I was wondering if there is such a thing as a wireless network card for this oldy? It...
It's a D-link DWL-520+ PCI adapte. The wall is nothing special, it's just a regular stud wall with drywall. Mybe I should try switching adapter from computer 1 to computer 2 and see what that yields. Computer 1 has a Broadcom adapter.
I have a D-Link 614+ router and I have two computers running wireless and one running network cable on the router. Wireless computer one is about 3 feet from the router, wireless computer 2 is about 10 -12 feet from the router with a wall between the router and computer. Computer 2 receives a...
I bought a book and practiced by creating guestbooks on a mySQL server. The book had some good examples and practice exercises. It was also one of those visual learning books which made it alot easier, even for me. Another good resource is one of those many PHP coding web sites where programmers...
Well, I've found a solution to this layers problem while in edit mode. The solution: Dreamweaver 8. This must have been a problem Macromedia was aware of and enough people complained about, so they fixed it in DW8...thank goodness! Layers now stay in place and don't appear out of place while in...
I'm just trying to figure out how this works. gotomypc.com works from work, but the remote desktop does not. I would image it's a similar thing, but me being routed through the gotomypc server is likely making the difference.
I'm trying to setup my remote desktop host computer to be accessed via another computer (work computer). I've followed the steps in setting up the host computer, but I am still getting the following error: The specified remote computer could not be found. Verify that you have typed the correct...
Why is it when I insert a layer into a cell that the layer does not stay in position when in design mode? When I preview the page in firefox it looks fine, but it sure is a pain in the @ss when the layer is hanging out in the upper left corner of my page when I'm entering text in edit mode...
I just reconnected my server back to my router, configured everything and I now, on my personal PC, I'm getting the following alert in Firefox when I click on links and enter url's: xxxxxx.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again.
This alert doesn't always pop-up. It...
Thanks so much for the help. I do have a Compaq. Do you know of any proprietary issues with the psu regarding Compaq? I know that the case fan they use is something strange like a 90mm.
Do I need to know the measurements of my psu in order to replace it with a different psu? Or are psu's standardized as far as sizes? In other words, how do I know it will fit my case?
Thanks!
I have a 200W power supply in my Compaq computer that is somehow managing to run a DVD burner, a CD burner, two hard drives, a floppy, 3 fans and 2 out of 3 filled PCI slots. As you can conclude, I need an upgrade.
~ I'm wondering if there is any proprietary power supply information that I...
Well, Circuit City was out of the 2100 speed so I purchased the 3200 and from what I learned in my A+ book, I figured that it would be slowed to whatever speed the motherboard could handle. I just couldn't pass up 2 sticks of 512K for $53.90 after rebates!
Thanks!
Can anyone explain how to read the most important parts of the diagnostic? Like, if my motherboad can only handle DDR PC2100 and I'm running DDR PC3200.
Thanks!
