Do I need to know the measurements of my psu in order to replace it with a different psu? Or are psu's standardized as far as sizes? In other words, how do I know it will fit my case?

Thanks!

well....there are multiple standards, by far the most common is ATX\PS2

but there are varients within form factors and proprietary form factors as well

Thanks so much for the help. I do have a Compaq. Do you know of any proprietary issues with the psu regarding Compaq? I know that the case fan they use is something strange like a 90mm.

its generally the HTPC (Home theater PCs) that have the straange and proprietary PSU form factors, your Compaq is almost guranteed to have an ATX12V PSU

which one is it?

It's a Presario 6000 with the AMD 1800 XP 1.53 processor. It's about 3 years old.
