Powering GPU using a second PC

I am building a low-budget Office-PC. Since the graphics card hasnt arrived yet, i cant install the operating system. I have a different GPU on hand, but it requires an 8pin conncetor, whereas the psu only has 1 6pin. Can i use one of the free 8pin-connectors of my main rig to power the GPU in...

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

Got my A4 delivered yesterday. Its really impressive to see that even the box it came in is smaller than the majority of cases out there. Here it is in comparison to the already really small Ncase M1: Sadly i won't be able to start my build directly, as i will need to gather additional parts...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I dont know if this is still relevant, but i have used a very similar ddc top, the aquacomputer aquacover ddc, and it did fit pretty well without the GPU touching the top, so no vibrations or sound transferring through the case. However, you need to plan out the way you want to connect...

I think its those: Premium Glossy Aluminum Alloy Countersunk Washer 11 Colors (M3 M4 M5) Personall, i think the build looks really nice. I have a black M1 v2 myself, and whenever i see a nice silver build, i sometimes think of getting another one just to have both.... I just dont like the...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I have a setup like the one you are planning on building, and i did use the EK 90° fittings. They are rotating, but pretty stiff, and very well built. Have 2 of them in use for 9 months, no problems whatsoever this far. I do also have a 45° fitting from Alphacool, which to my surprise doesnt...

    NCASE M1 v2 Build Thread

Finished my fully custom water cooling X99 build a while ago. This was half a year back, but i recently found the pictures i took in the process, thought i might aswell share them with you guys. I think its a configuration that isn't seen all too often around here. Pictures don't have the best...

    X99 - Turbo-Boost with Xeons?

I remember some time ago you could run something like the Xeon e3 1231 v3 on some Asrock boards with all cores set to the max turbo boost, meaning all 4 cores would boost to 3,8 GHz. How is it on the X99 Platform? I know that intel later put an end to this with a microcode update, but the older...

Does anybody know how the turbo-stepping of xeons handle on this board? How is it on the X99 Platform? I know that intel...

Ncase M1 owners; How is your PSU oriented?

Sharkoon Silent Storm 500W SFX-L. It is faced with the fan to the outside, because i have a 240mm radiator with fans blowing hot air inside the case. Furthermore, i don't think the cables would fit with a long graphics card installed like the GTX 980 when oriented the other way round.

    NCASE M1 watercooling choice

From a temperature perspective one 240mm rad is enough to cool both one high-end CPU and GPU. I have a 5820K @4GHz and a GTX 980 @1.5GHz on one Swiftech 240mm, and the temps max out at 61°C on the hottest CPU-Core, and at 59°C on the GPU, all in an Ncase. If you go 2x240mm, you will get into a...

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

Some very quick mockups as how i think such a bridge could look like. Since i dont know the exact dimensions of the EK-cooler, measurements arent accurate. I haven't found any blueprints online so far. The biggest drawback would be the fact that such a bridge needs to be manufactured in two...

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

Holy shit, are you me? Thats exactly what i was thinking about the last weeks. The R9 Nano might be the perfect (yet expensive) candidate for a project like this. I didnt like the card when it first came out, but with its uniquely short PCB at 15,3cm it will allow a 120mm rad, maybe even a...

To all the power users: How many machines do you use for work?

Thank you for all your votes. The results are kind of what i expected, but its really helpful to see them confirmed. Basically, what i observed most of the time is that people use ultrabooks/notebooks (even tablets) if they want to be mobile, but use a desktop if they want to get work done...

The Future of External Graphics Cards

I've looked into all kinds of existing external graphics solutions, and they are all basically the same: Its a big box, with standardized components. The provided power supplies are some really big tax-power supplies. Its like a small desktop tower, only for a graphics card, and most space is...

Thank you for all the replies so far! It`s really helpful, and part of all the things you said were in my notes at some point. What mhenley and shyboi said is part of my theory. Multiple clients gaming on one System

hm, ok. Thats basically what i expected from the virtualization side. But wouldn't it be possible to run multiple instances of windows on a machine with more than one physical processor? Basically two independent OS on one system, since the critical components are available 2 times? (cpu, gpu)

Its available for preoder in some european countries as well, but it seems to be much more expensive than stated at ces 2015. prices ranges around 360-400€ instead of around 250€. That is a huge extra, if it is going to cost nearly as much as the 5820k i wanted to put on it...

    GPU vs CPU performance evolution

Hey People, I'll soon be working on my bachelor thesis, which will be about the usage of external gpu's. For now, im focussing on the development of performance of pc-components over time. For quite some years now the gpu has been the part with the highest relative performance gain per...

Thats because it is rendered smaller on the package and the production images. The proportion between board, antenna and cooler dont match. While the block looks big enough, (the fins seem to be quite dense, too) the fan looks like it is going to be loud. Maybe im wrong, but most fans that...

    X99 on mITX: ASRock X99E-itx/ac

As i mentioned earlier in this thread, the EKWB Supremacy will fit with their narrow ILM adapter-plate. I bought an M1 v2 last summer, and still haven't had time to decide the exact components for the build. I was nearly done with the choice though, but with the asrock x99 mitx a new competitor has stepped in... A 5820k in a mini itx build would be pretty sick though, especially in a complete...

For liquid cooling, the ekwb supremacy with 2011 narrow ILM plate may fit. this may be an option for the Ncase M1. Then again, you have to have a cooling loop with a dedicated pump... I wonder if there are any pump/cpu-block-combos compatible with 2011-3 narrow ILM out there...

It may be possible to fit it under the gpu, however i think it would needed to be turned sideways because the outlet is on top of it, and with tubings and fittings installed it won't fit. However, i heard it is quite loud, and produces noticeable humming. I plan to go as silent as possible...
