The NTFS version is not the issue. It shouldn't be reading it as a Dynamic drive coming from XP. I would first - make sure you have it backed up before doing anything else!

Odd indeed. I don't think being headless has anything to do with it specifically. Mine is headless and works fine, also it is designed and should be to run as a headless server.I would suspect a settings issue.

On my gig network switch I get anywhere from 70 - 85 MB/s transfer speeds from any of my PC's to my WHS. Netgear G105 5 port switch using CAT5e cables.
I say you have an issue with the network setup of bad network cables etc...

I think that the file association was changed somehow... See this site which is for Vista but I think it is the same for win 7.
