The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

my thing is, how can they come out with new DLC if they DON"T raise the level cap?

I won't even play the next DLC nless they change it. hell I don't even want to finish the 2nd one (beat 3rd one first) because of it. Almost pointless to play and I don't feel like playing another character to do it.

I wouldn't say they lied per se... It's clear that they put a lot of effort into working with the idea and capabilities.

What irks me is that they're canning it because the Xbox is incapable... Also because there's bosses that are extremely difficult right now that me and my friends have not been able to beat. They're basically keeping them near impossible.

They should do what Bethesda do and release the DLC for the platforms that their programmer is competent in and make lots of lame excuses. :D

Hard to imagine GBX being blatant douches like that. Hope not.

Same here. They come out and say 100% chance of level cap raise, then they say they can't because of problems...either way one of those statements has to be a lie, so...

Unless they intend to but can't right now due to issues so will later. Even so, as it isn't cross platform they could up the level cap on everything else and leave it as it is on the Xbox... I wouldn't care if they did that (though you really just need a +20 enemy level cap rise :D)

I suppose, but I would imagine that they knew of these issues the whole time, having, you know, developed the game in the first place. :p

I agree that they should just up it on PC then if the problem is memory usage or whatever.

Probably not. People aren't always great at planing ahead... At least the "release day DLC" people will be happy that it wont have been developed before. :D

Though the PC isn't always the best thing for that kind of thing. Another UE(it's 2.5, but still) game Killing Floor's makers had to make it so guns left on the floor would dissapear at the start of the round as they added new guns to the game. Because a bunch of people were whining that it was going over the minimum spec for memory and their...I have no idea what couldn't run it well anymore...(It needs 512mb system, 64mb Vram...) Most people playing games that I talk to have scary low end systems...

can someone answer this question for me? I just bought an used borderlands 2 deluxe edition but dont see the pandora map, downloadable comic book and Art of Borderlands 2 Hardbound Book. I have the bobblehead, the four stickers, the dvd case with the game. but there is another dvd case that is heat shrinked wrapped. I dont wont to open it in case the above mentioned may be in there. are there two dvd game discs or just one and the map and stuff is in the sealed dvd case?

I don't own it, but from what I gather, you're at least missing the book. I don't think that looks like it would fit in the dvd case... but I could be wrong of course. The comic book download seems like it would be something inside the DVD case, and possibly the map as well. I'm talking straight out of my ass once again.

i could be wrong but thinking the second dvd case is another BL2 game brand new. maybe i need to open it.

What's there to do if you just have the base game when you hit 50? Assume no DLC will be bought as my buddies that I play the game with are cheap. We killed Terramorphus so many times that I'm starting to get WoW PTSD flashbacks. Is there a listing of "50" type things to do in the game?

Kill Doc Mercy over and over to get Infinity pistols! :D

Is he supposed to be level 50 or 38? I beat the end of the game with a group but I didn't do all of the 2nd play through as I got infinitely bored. Do I have to play through everything again to make the game level 50? Or can I just defeat Jack?

there are character packs that include all the special weapons, armors and mods. To be honest this game sucks in terms of loot compared to BL1. The regular loot is outclassed by the specials. The specials take tons of farming to get, to the point where you feel like you are wasting your time. In BL1 you would regularly get regular weapons to replace what you were using.

Agreed, I started building up some other characters to take through the game so I felt like I was at least getting something out of it.

Whenever I fight him hes level 52... Though I started hunting him after I'd killed the Warrior, so I don't know what he was at first on TVHM... The end boss is pretty easy though. :D

Really enjoying the Mecromancer at the moment, the last character I hadn't played. It has really revitalized the game for me. Also I mainly play with 3 other friends. Keeps it very fresh, honestly feels as fun as the first few days wich is impressive for a 400 hour plus game (in my case).

Having a blast with an Immunity to electrocution insta-recharge shield, skillpoints in middle tree with everything focused on dealing shocking elemental damage. A little seizure inducing at times, every time I make a critical kill this huge Tesla explosion goes off.

Very much looking forward to the up and coming character. Looks like it might be a Rat like character. Here is some dudes video rant on the subject

Nothing. I finished PT1 and I'm at level 47 and I just don't see any point in continuing right now until the raise the level cap.

lol, level cap is not going to be part of the season pass. Spread cheeks, gearbox is going to make another deposit.

https://mobile.twitter.com/GearboxSoftware/status/312216608544260097

to be honest I have not played past the first DLC. I hate the loot mechanics which ensure the only good drops you can get are from bosses - after endless grinding

Fuck gearbox, this coming on the heels of A:CM is the last straw, hopefully they are out of business by the end of the year.

Yeah, as a Season Pass owner for BL2 I'm fairly pissed with how they handled DLC for this game.

I like Borderlands quite a bit but I'm going to always have to think twice (or three times...or ten) before buying another Gearbox title, future Borderlands included.

Finally some news on level increase cap and more!

Krieg:
6th character, a psycho; revealed at PAX east today. $10 (ouch)

Rewards risky play style, explosives and Axe melee that can also be thrown. Looks good :DKrieg the Psycho is a reformed bandit who specialises in melee attacks. He has three skill trees: Bloodlust, which focuses on his Buzz Axe weapon, Mania, which increases damage as Krieg takes damage, and Hellborn, which increases fire damage.

He's a high risk, high reward character, Eurogamer's US news editor Jeffrey Matulef, who is at Gearbox's panel at PAX East, reports. Krieg is at his best when rushing the enemy front lines.
Krieg will be released in May for $9.99

Level cap increase: Ultimate Vault Hunters Pack DLC arriving on April 2 for $5

"We didn't just change the numbers. We want that level cap increase to work with all of the content," said CEO Randy Pitchford. "You also want to play content that is still challenging." Included in this add-on pack is a new tier of gear that starts at level 51 and goes up to 61 called Pearlescent gear."

Good to see Pearlescent gear back! :D

Can not wait for this!

I see they are raising the level cap. As $5 DLC. Sigh. This game is dead to me.

http://www.destructoid.com/pax-gearbox-details-borderlands-2-level-cap-increase-249524.phtml

$5 thats what, skipping one Starbucks or trip to McDonalds?

Cut me I bleed. And its FREE for season pass holders and includes pearlescent gear tier, so, really, what's the big deal. Optional content is optional. And if you're a diehard fan of the game that pearlescent and new levels would appeal to then you should already have season pass anyway.

i dont really feel screwed at all with BL2 and buying the season pass, but then again i got BL2 free with my video card so all i spent on the game was for the season pass so it felt like a steal.

Well , with the season pass we were promised 4 DLC's. We will get them and the last one due for june is ''the Biggest'' from the dev word. We also got the mechromancer when preordering the game , wich was a nice incentive.

I understand why some people are tired of paying for DLC , especially with the season pass and everything, but BL2 has SOOOOO much content its ridiculous. We are also getting a free level cap and new Ultimate vault hunter mode with new class of weapons with the pass.

BL2 is an incredible game, and all the DLC feels like an expansion , not patched on content.

In my opinion, upping the level cap should have been one of the first DLCs, or maybe the second or so. At this point I really don't have a whole lot of desire to go back and do another playthrough *shrug*.

the only thing i didnt like about BL2 was the replay, limited play throughs? really? so we can play a thrid time in the next patch so whats after that? why cant we keep replaying the story if we wanted too. pretty lame if you ask me.

Fuck Gearbox. After A:CM and the way they royally fucked over Season Pass owners of BL2, they can go fuck a porcupine.

I'd really like to hear how season pass owners were "fucked over"... Gearbox promised four DLC's for pass holders within a year of the games release. Three are out, the fourth is coming this summer. How have they failed to deliver what was promised? No promises were made about a level cap or the actual amount of content (in gameplay hours or whatever) to be delivered, only the quantity of releases. Anyone who bought it should have done so knowing that they have to accept what they get. Anyone who isn't ok with doing business that way is completely free to not buy the season pass. They would then be free to either buy no DLC, buy only the DLC that appealed to them (at a greater overall cost), or wait until everything has been released and then buy the season pass at that point if all the content released was found to be desirable. I don't understand how people can piss and moan over something that is 100% optional and easily avoided.

I'm of the same mindset. I haven't played it since the whole fiasco. Shame to really cause BL is fun as hell, but they didn't have to screw over a whole other company or steal a bunch of money to make it so, or maybe they did. Whatever. I'm done with then over it.

the part you got right was see first, then buy. the part you got wrong was no criticism just because it's optional. the package is designed to upsell their shittiest content, and to remove the element of choice specifically from those who wanted to save money buying them together, it's perfectly fair to call deception. IF they had released the eligible ones first, THEN got to the more substantial dlc, we would have nothing to complain about.

no, they decided to rub it in your faces by cherry picking which ones are included, and which ones are not. timing is key here, if they didn't want to be pricks about it they shouldn't have called it a season pass.

I still don't really agree with the right to be upset about this. Consider it a DLC pre-order. Like any pre-order, you gamble the fact that you'll like the game against whatever incentive is being offered. In this case, thats a lower price... except it further favors the player because instead of just being a preorder incentive, the lower price is available even after the content is released and you are able to see what your money is getting you. Anyone had the choice to buy it up front if they wanted to have the content upon it's release, or they could wait until all the cards are on the table and then make an informed decision if it's worth buying. If you end up not liking the content, that's unfortunate. I think it's fine to be upset if you purchased something and ended up not liking it. All I'm saying is it's not Gearbox's fault you don't like the DLC, especially when so many other people do. In the case of AC:M, the game was very clearly neglected and was not the game that Gearbox represented it to be. That's not the case with the Borderlands DLC. They are 100% Borderlands, I don't see how you can deny that. They are well done and offer a fair amount of content for the price. Again, it sucks if you didn't enjoy them, but that's not Gearbox's fault.

And I don't think any "cherry picking" was done. Prior to the games release, GBX probably only planned to do four major DLCs, which is what the season pass was for. After the games very successful launch, they probably sat down and starting talking about doing more DLC beyond the planned four. They aren't obligated to alter the original planned four DLC's that you bought into because something else better might have been planned after the fact.

None of my friends bought DLC so the season pass was pointless in my case. And I really don't like to play the game solo. So having to pay for more "extras" doesn't excite me.

sorry but the entire idea must be either incredibly naive or just stubborn, do you really mean to say you actually believe they didn't know exactly what they were doing, and exactly how they were going to market each and every piece of this content well in advance of their release?

this is the kind of thing that allows clusterfucks like colonial marines to happen. people just buy, then complain, or go into some sort of stupor to justify their expenses in some sane way. some just refuse to admit when they've been had, or maybe even a genuine indifference to this kind of thing is not out of the ordinary. but to criticise others for pointing it out, this takes a special kind of denial that could never result in anything good.

same, it ought to be common knowledge by now how they operate.
