Well covered a few Seiki's to drawing machines...Full Presure sensitivity with drawing pen..Awesome in Photoshop in 4K
I built many old time drawing machines and building a 50" and a 42" now..ut it takes a lot of guts to rip these things apart.. must be stripped down completely down to the backlight lens..
Thanks woodguy32
Time to market still matters a lot. Philips is releasing a 40" VA 4k, PWM-free.
Detailed specifications on BDM4037UW/93
Anything happen in the last two weeks? I've been following this thread closely and I can say it would be a real shame to see another hopeful project get dropped! As an update, the FPGA firmware is now (mostly) working in simulation. There are some remaining to-do items(aren't there always! haha), but there is significant progress despite the lack of recent update posts.

I've submitted the design to an FPGA professional with lots of experience with the chip family that is being used. Once he OKs the design, I'll send the hardware out for manufacturing.
This article has some interesting lessons in dealing with chinese copycats:
Your brilliant Kickstarter idea could be on sale in China before you’ve even finished funding it
Boards have been ordered. Should have hardware to test with in about 1.5 weeks.
Stuff like that has caused me to be 'too careful' in the past. If I just dove in and did things, I would have sold a lot more 240Hz monitors.
Boards? Is this multiple prototypes or a production run already?
Fixed a few minor hardware issues, found some minor firmware bugs. almost ready to plug it into a panel.
hahaha no smoke is a good sign!
If this is successful....which Seiki Models would be best? I have the old 39" VA model.....Also, I think it was mentioned that a 28" TN panel option was out there.....any other displays?

most 4ch LVDS panels with conventional connectors are theoretically compatible with this solution, but this firmware was created for the Seiki 39", which is one of the few native 120Hz 4k panels widely available.
check panel database for the panel PN, if it says 4ch LVDS, there is a chance.
Thanks for the clarification guys. I've been under the impression the mod was specifically for the 50' Seiki. No, this is misinformation. It is the panel-side connection that matters, not the input side.
The panels that I'm 100% sure that it will work on are: M280DGJ*, V390DK*, V420DK*. The other previously listed panels may work, but it is designed for these these primarily.
Also, it is not strictly desgined for the seiki. The seiki just happens to use the V390DK1 panel.

if all that is needed for voltage testing is your average $50 multimeter, given a little bit of instruction, i can provide data for the 50' w/out the tcon swap.It will very probably fit the V500DK2 as well as the V580DK2, but I have not fully verified tcon swap capability between those models yet (and I don't have the voltage measurements from them either). I only have the 39" and the 28" to test with.
