Yeah, I won't lose sleep over it. On principle though, I'm not paying $36 for priority overnight if it's actually going to take 4 days.

Update: Just got off the phone with Digital River and nVidia. I got a bunch of excuses like:
    1) Your order wasn't processed by our accounting dept until 6:45PM.
    2) No comment from them when I pointed out that it could be "priority overnight" delivered on Saturday if they "processed" the order at 6:45PM on Thursday.
    3) Due to the number of people ordering this product, extra time is required.
    4) Orders are filled in the order they are received.
    5) Your payment was not verified until after noon PST Thursday.
    6) Your customer information was not verified until after noon PST Thursday.

I explained to them that their website said it was in stock, and their website states "Orders must be received by 3:00pm EST (noon PST), to be processed the same business day." I noted to them that I paid by paypal so payment was made before noon PST Thursday and shipping/customer info was verified before noon PST Thursday. I have the paypal receipt proving that.

I finally asked them if I should refuse delivery or open a dispute with paypal. nVidia CS then said they would submit a request for a partial refund but that it was not guaranteed.

They're not going scam an extra $36 out of me.

I ordered mine too, but I went with the Nickel-Acetal version. EK's Nickel plating issues are long since behind them, and I prefer something that won't tarnish.

Looks like the backplates won't be available until the end of the month, and they state - like always - that the stock backplates are not compatible. (I'm going to try anyway)

It's driving my crazy though. I started ordering Water Cooling parts for this build on June first, and the block for the GPU won't ship from Slovenia until August 16th, so add a week for shipping until it gets here...

The time between ordering to getting the project started always makes me antsy, but this is by far the longest such time I've ever had. :p

To revisit the cost of the thing for a moment, I found Techpowerup's Performance/Dollar charts quite interesting. (Not sure if they'll allow direct linking, but lets try)

While it is the most expensive video card to date, it actually costs significantly less from a performance/dollar perspective than last years Titan X, and it's not that much more expensive in performance/dollar than a Fury X :D

Can I just say holy crap (even in a Wisconsin accent) this card is amazing!!! Part of it might be me coming from two 290x's crossfired and all of the headaches and choppiness that come along with crossfire, but I've never had a card play games so smoothly and with so much detail. 4k 60fps is completely a reality with the Titan XP! I'm in 4k gaming bliss :) I ran unigine Heaven and saw the stock boost was up to 1911 mhz. Like others I'm hoping to see an AIO hybrid type cooler as some point but it's nice that at this point that would be a luxury purchase not a need as 4k 60fps is doing just fine as is.

The last Titan they released was followed by a Ti release that made the Titan a horrible buy. Why would this time be any different? I remember threads just like this when that Titan came out, then threads crying about how the 980Ti was nearly the same performance for way less money......

This has been discussed at infinitum. Pretty sure Titan buyers understand the risk.

Right now I can buy a GTX 1080 for clsoe to $700 dollars or a Titan X for $1200. Given that AMD has literally nothing for sale that's worth buying above the $250 price level, I highly doubt that NVIDIA will release a 1080 Ti for anything less than $900. I'm willing to pay $300 to get big-die Pascal now instead of 6 months from now. The fun I'll have gaming with this card in the extra time is worth the premium to me. /shrug

If a 1080 Ti came to fruition within the next month or two and performed near identically (either theoretically or via over clocking headroom) to the Titan X and was significantly cheaper I could see a member or two in this thread regretting their purchase. As time grows between the two releases I am sure regret gets further and further away.

We've been over this many times both in this thread and others.

1.) The 980ti launched as a Nvidia overreaction to AMD's upcoming Fiji XT (Fury X). They wanted to beat AMD's much rumored upcoming flagship before it came to market with better performance and a lower price. The 980ti may have eventually come anyway, but it would definitely have been more expensive and probably clocked lower.

2.) This time around, AMD doesn't really have anything to counter the 1080. Vega will come along at some point, but a brief google of rumors suggests 2017/2018. If a 1080ti performing within 5% of Titan X comes out in 8 months to counter Vega, that is fine. I just had 8 months of 4k gaming with good framerates I otherwise wouldn't have had, and even so, in 8 months I will still have the fastest GPU on the market, if only by 5%.

3.) The Pascal Titan X is the first Titan of the 16nm die shrink. If it is anything like 28nm it will be with us for a while. I bought the original Titan right at the beginning of the 28nm GPU era. it blew away GTX 680's, it was significantly faster than GTX 780's, it traded blows with 780ti's and was within single digits of 980's in most tests. It wasn't until the 980ti was launched that there was something significantly faster. While I had some $1000 GPU sized buyers remorse when I first bought it on launch in 2013, it turned out to be one of my better GPU buys, and lasted me longer than any other GPU I've ever owned, when I finally upgraded to dual 980ti's in August of last year and handed the original Titan down to my stepson.

So, you are right. Things COULD turn out the way they did with the Maxwell Titan X, and then - in hindsight - it may not seem like the best of buys. With AMD's competition being the way it is, this - however - seems unlikely, at least for a while yet. Or they could turn out the way they did with the Kepler Titan, and it can be another extraordinarily good buy that lasts for 2.5 years without feeling tired compared to other GPU's out there. Or something else could happen all together.

We don't know. These things are always a gamble. Experience has taught me that fretting about it, and wringing hands just leads to unwarranted anxiety and unhappiness with ones rig. I don't believe in the perfect timing of buying something. There is always something new looming on the horizon, and you can't play games today on a GPU you buy tomorrow.

What I do know is this. The Pascal Titan X is the ONLY single GPU that comes even close to providing a decent gaming experience at 4k. With everything else, framerates are just too damned low, or you need to go SLI/Crossfire, with all the problems that come along with that.

I'm building my system today, and I want something that can power my 4k screen. I very much doubt a 1080ti is coming out in the near future, but even if it does, I'll deal. It will likely still be the GPU best suited to my needs of single GPU 4k gaming.

I wish the 1080 Ti would come around November or earlier. I really want to go from a Ti to Ti. Holding on has been tough for me lol.

Well ya gotta see, people buying these cards have money, and are willing to spend for the most performance at any cost. Will I be disappointed if 1080ti comes out in 2 months, maybe but will I regret my purchase no cause I will have fun with it.

Well I bought two 980Ti Classifieds that cost $1450 total because they were the best performance. But it's stupid to assume that people who have money like to waste money. Having money and being wasteful with money don't go hand in hand. People with money like to get the best value for their money, like I do. And to me, this Titan X isn't a good buy if they release a 1080Ti with 90% of the speed for $700 in two months. I nearly bought the last Titan iteration, then the 980Ti's popped up. So I bought two of the best ones because they were the best bang for the high end buck. Aside from the rare person who needs a ton of video memory, I've seen VERY few people who thought any Titan was worth the money within a couple months of it's release.

I know the hype train is running full speed in this thread right now, but come on, Titan's have always been panned as way overpriced.

Frankly I'm of the opinion that you shouldn't be buying a $1200 GPU if that 1200 would be sorely missed.

Err never assumed they would like to waste money, that's why I stated I might be disappointed, but that disappointment has to be weighted to how much enjoyment I have in the meantime......

I have a hard time believing that nVidia would release a better value buy in the 1080ti unless the Titan XP were to have very weak sales signaling to them that $1200 is more than the prosumer market was able to bear. If sales are strong or at least steady they will continue to take the stronger margins on the Titan than giving up some of those margins with a TI variant. As has been discussed before, historically the TI has been the tip tier performance value card released last in the current architecture as a way to keep customers from leaning towards amd's top offerings. Amd just doesn't have anything close his year that would make them want to cut into the Titans margins.

Because later then the $450 1170 matches/displaces the 1080Ti, etc. Unlike CPUs, GPUs seem to be on an unstoppable performance increase still.

Does removing the stock heatsink void the Titan warranty? It's ridiculous there are no custom cooling options when buying such an expensive card, and the only way to make it not sound like a hair dryer is to dismantle it and put on a water block. I'd go for a $1k Ti with a silent Twin Frozr cooler any day.

It is frustrating not knowing if a Ti will be out next week, in 4 months, or never. (First world problems, I know.)

As long as you hold onto the stock cooling solution you do not have to worry about voiding warranty by putting an aftermarket cooler / block on it.

If it came to a point where you needed to RMA the card all you need to do is put the original cooler on and you're golden. I ordered my Titan X (Maxwell) from Nvidia direct and slapped an EK block on it.

I decided to go for it as well. The actual truth is that I always decided, but the Wife put a stop to it. This morning however, out of the blue she said "go ahead and order your new Titan". So, I am not going to argue and immediately ordered it. I will have mine on Monday as well. I also put my order in for the Waterblock, which according to EKWB I should have on the 19th. Just hoping they put the backplates up soon so I can try to get it at the same time.

I am going from Maxwell Titan X in SLI to a single Pascal Titan X. Anyone know what the resale worth of Maxwell Titan's with EKWB Water Block on them should sell for?

What are you setting your power and fan speeds at to get those OCs I cannot get 175 Core and 535 Mem Stable with 120% power limit even though my max temp is not over 80C. Any ideas?

Damnit man, that was a trick and you fell for it. lol

I'm going to put my Maxwell Titan in one of my new builds. Based on current eBay sold listings, I'm guessing you could get at least $700 for it, and maybe $800+, but I'd sell it soon before value plummets.

Actually, Mitan X also had similar increase in perf/$:

    https://tpucdn.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_Titan_X/images/perfdollar_3840.gif

Although, this still does mean that Pitan X is better for the money than Mitan X.

Reason being, if Pascal Titan X has the same perf/$ increase over Maxwell Titan X, as did Maxwell Titan X had over Kepler Titan, it stands to reason that the 20% increase in price is matched completely by its relative performance increase over previous generation compared to the previous generation.

Coming from the Titan segment, this is actually a bargain, considering that any sort of performance increase in this price range usually carries rapidly decreasing perf/$.

Forever though? It was more a "do I buy it now or wait a bit".

If they are going to remain the exclusive seller than I guess that's where I'll go though!

Wasn't sure if other retailers would get stock ever. Much prefer to pick up at a local store if I can for something so expensive.
