Doesn't make any difference in my experience. I've calibrated CCFL & LED VA, TN, IPS and get the same result on all of them.
How do you know you are getting the same result? It makes a difference when people actually verify against accurate instrumentation.
Off the shelf i1d2 have poor inter unit consistency and bigger errors on non standard back-lighting. OEM version that ship with monitors (like NEC SV/MD Gammacomp branded) are calibrated with that monitor backlight type and will be great for that type of monitor backlight, but will be off on other types. It is the nature of the beast.
