Battlefield 6

They need to show some of their best maps, if only so that they can be tested and balanced... but also to pull BF fans in.

Maps so far are just infantry meatgrinders, its virtually pointless using an ifv or tank on those city maps as they're just rpg fodder.

I think I'm just getting too old for the fast pace style of these games. I can't frigging keep up, die quickly, and appear to be in panic mode the whole time.

For me I think the peak came back with Battlefield Bad Company 2. Ahh, those were the days..

I enjoyed up until BF4 which I put in like 600+ hours, but everything past that I just skipped after disliking the betas. Battlefield used to be my excuse to build a new PC and now I don't even bother with it. I was never a vehicle guy though . I don't enjoy driving them and never have good luck when I hop in one when it comes to drivers.

I watch youtube videos that get posted here and my game sessions are nothing like that. The youtube clips are calm by comparison to what I see. I realize the footage is edited to show the best and most exciting bits, but my experience is spawn, die before you can move, and repeat. When I do kill someone, it isn't satisfying and just feels like luck of the draw, but then again machine guns never did anything for me in games.

Gaming overall is just pretty much dead for me even after taking off for 8 years or so. I am no longer the target audience and everything people seem to love about the new games doesn't click with me. Oh well more money saved.

Lack of server browser will kill this game. Trying to get into a Domination match takes 2-5 minutes now, because the "Domination" button is gone from the main menu this weekend. The Custom search button works but again, no one uses that without a browser. People will use whatever the default buttons are which seemingly will change every few days.

Why give the cows the ability to choose their path to the grinder?

Buyers are a product, a metric, a number, a commodity.

Consume, don't think! What are you doing?

That said this game does look really good. I'm wondering how EA will use this new found goodwill to squeeze more predatory bullshit into the game.

They will. It looks good now, but how will it be 6 months post launch?

I will probably get it, though I am prepared to be disappointed. Might go for the Best Buy deal mentioned above but I contacted Best Buy and it is indeed the EA app. I didn't mind using Origin back in the BF3/4 days though with EA being back on Steam I feel like the upkeep for it will be less than ideal. I'd rather have them just kill it off and allow us to migrate our games/saves to Steam. The EA App for me is laggy.

Well, I for sure want to filter out 3/4 of the maps so far, and there is no way to do so right now.

They did say that, the playlist thing is only for the beta, and they will have another system on release.

I've been seeing lots of these posts on Reddit and elsewhere with BF6, mostly from players in their 50s. I'm at that age so I get gaming fatigue after a couple of games vs several hours when I was much younger. Not a bad thing as it gives me time back to my family.

That being said, I still enjoy BF6 a lot.

Well what does? Sniping? Handguns? Swords? Bow & arrow? I am just asking because...

I feel the same way about much of the modern stuff like all of the F2P and live service bullcrap, particularly those that push microtransactions etc. But there are more games available now than ever before, and unless you are just confining yourself to multiplayer shooters or something, I don't see how there isn't something that you'd enjoy. Whether it's horror, puzzle, action adventure, action RPG, fantasy, milsims, immersive sims, etc. And even if you can't seem to get into deep, immersive story-driven games like RDR2 or CP 2077 there are a plethora of older games from the era before Fortnite etc. that are cheap and (most importantly) fun as long as you don't need the most realistic rock and wall textures to enjoy a game. Are you limiting yourself to certain type of game that's no longer being made in the pursuit of modern trends? Have you played all of the games that looked worthwhile to you already?

I don’t have any issues with EA app.
Neither do I.

I know it's no where even close to apples to apples, but I play Anthem everyday and it's a online game and it works perfectly, no lag what so ever, and yes I know it doesn't have nowhere near the amount of people on it like BF. But the EA App imo works better than Origin did.

Hit level 15 now. Trying to get to level 20. Maps are a bit shit but overall, am enjoying the game. Very difficult to get a good squad going and nobody revives. Overall, I think game will have some staying power but will die very soon if they just have 9 maps and 4 are already shared and not stellar.

The sniping is a pita for me. Steady progress overall. Not going to win any awards in this one lol.

EA app has always been fine for me but I made my BF6 pre-order via STEAM because I earn 6% cash back on the STEAM gift cards I purchase at my local grocery store using my AE Blue Cash Preferred credit card :)
I get 10% off due to EA play through gamepass.

But I did not pre order yet.

I've been playing for awhile now and while its good there are some issues, such as the map size which feels more like COD than BF, they are so small they seem to have you going in circles. My favorite map is liberation peak, which is still just a medium sized map, so I'm hoping there will be large ones as well. There is also graphical glitches in the game, last night I was in a match and the other players were running around with no heads or tags, and understandably it's a beta so I get it. Also the game currently hasn't any DLSS or FG, which apparently was supposed to be fixed last night, but I logged on today and still no DLSS or FG. So Ill keep playing the beta but I wont get the actual game until I see the final product and reviews, I have too many bad memories about previous BF's.

Their latest update on X/Twitter was posted 14 hours ago and says they're still working on a fix. Something tells me this won't get fix before Beta 2 ends or if it does, it'll be a few hours before. Not a good look considering it was working fine last week.

Had a lot of fun on conquest last night. I am awful of course but just need to get some practice in.

The same was happening to me, I started doing better though when I used the rubble, buildings whatever as cover, my usual running and gunning does not work very well especially in the smaller maps.

I've been playing a lot of call of duty lately so my battlefield skilz need exercised haha.

LOL same. I LOVED the original BF1942 back in the day, and then Desert Combat rocked, and the more modern versions like BF3 / BF4 were my fav, and then it went down hill from there, spawn in, get sniped and die immediately. Spawn again, get killed sprinting out of my base. Rinse and repeat.

That's why I like vehicles the most, I love the gunner spot in a Tank, I can last awhile in there, being driven around and shooting away. But on foot as a soldier I get killed way too quick, might last 2 minutes at most before I'm dead.

you can filter whatever map/game mode you want to play now

Updated to the latest 580.97 drivers and DLSS/DLAA function has been restored. Quit and went back into BF6 to ensure it wasn't a fluke and options are still there... Hopefully it sticks.

99% of all firearms work in semi-auto, but the game is never balanced around if you choose to play that way. Instead it rewards people for just spraying full auto. Even when you use firearms that are only semi-auto they balance them in such a way it isn't fun to play. Take something like a lever action which inevitably makes it into BF games and you will find the power is up, but they limit the rate of fire to slower than one can actually cycle making the ROF slower than it should be while also not increasing the damage enough to balance the slower ROF. This of course not only makes it less fun, but makes it less rewarding to use. This is the same with bolt action, DMRs/Marksman, ARs, shotguns, handguns, etc.

Most FPS these days at least the CODs and BFs seem to be balanced around SMGs. It is the same way all the FPS games don't penalize you for not playing the objective in objective based modes and with the loss of admins there is nothing to discourage playing TDM in these modes.

Not sure why my 4080 is pegged to almost 100% when last weekend it was around 60, nothing really different. Not even Stalker 2 does that.

why is that surprising? Depending on resolution this game has no issues pegging a 4080. I can get my 4090 pegged if I don’t use DLSS at 3440x1440

If stalker 2 isn’t maxing a 4080 you’re playing at 720p or are no where near full details.

I'm just wondering when I played last week that was not the case. it was typically at around 60%, as I said in the previous post. I'm curious if not having DLSS made a difference last night in my gpu usage.

Resolution is 1440p

I got DLSS working after updating my drivers. But yes that would make a difference. point of DLSS is to reduce load by rendering at a lower than native resolution then upscaling.

I'm using the 580.88 and DLSS is available now, I was using the same set last night and DLSS was not there, I just checked now and it's back along with FG. As for as GPU usage I'll see how it is with DLSS back, but yes it makes sense.

Match maker is really showing its downside, as always. If they remove something from the main menu no one is going to play it. So if you want to load up a game during the weekend and they change what is available, you're not going to be able to play that weekend. I'm not sure how developers can be so dumb. The Custom match maker is near useless long term. There will be a lot of dead game modes within a few months.

And to make it worse they're flooding the main page with a bunch of dumb modes and class restrictions no one cares about. I'm not sure why people can't make multiplayer games anymore. You're fragmenting the player base. If it takes someone 5-10 minutes to get into a game they stop playing.

Perhaps they pushed an update around the same time I updated my drivers. Either way, glad it's back. I'm using DLAA on my 4090 which nets me around 150-160 FPS. I have a cap of 170 which I can easily hit with DLSS but i'll give up the 10 or so fps for the slightly higher clarity.

Where is this info from? The number of people playing is wrong, that's just Steam not consoles or ea app.

Game runs much better on low graphics, think the engine doesn't properly handle ultra graphics even on top .01% hardware/settings.
