Will you jump on 40xx Super Video cards or would you rather wait for 50xx series to come out?

I was debating selling my 4090 and downgrading to a 4080 Super, but since I game at 4k and even though the 4080S would be plenty for most games, some games like Alan Wake 2 hammer my 4090....so I decided against it even though I had a 4080S in cart. If it had been a little more performance...

    7900xtx or 4080 super?

Yeah, all the PC's in my house are on the same OS, currently running 11 on all of them. Drivers are almost always up to date (my son is a little lazy updating though). Funnily enough I updated my Nvidia drivers today and my system black screened while updating and required a hard reboot. RT...

    7900xtx or 4080 super?

I've been running my 4090 for a while now, but I owned a XFX 7900 XTX (great card) before it and my son is currently running the 7900 XT. Before that, we both had 6900 XT's and my daughter was on a 3060. And even before that, I've run a LONG list of AMD/Nvidia cards (been building computers...

FT: Gigabyte RTX 4080 Gaming OC

Picked up a Gigabyte RTX 4080 Gaming OC from NKD here on these forums a ways back for my brother, but it and his ASRock Taichi B650E motherboard refuse to work together. The card works fine in his old build, works in my son's build and works on my build, just refuses to work where it is...

    $1160 4080 vs $910 7900 XTX???

Having owned a 7900 XTX and currently a 4090, I'd absolutely get the 7900 XTX for $910 over a $1160 4080. Even with a 4090, I still find RT to be trash on most games that offer it and you pointed out that it is not a big deal with you. Unless Nvidia has some feature that you absolutely MUST...

Anyone seriously considering the 4070 TI

Exactly, the main problem I have with the 4070ti. In 2023, only having 12GB of VRAM for $800 seems crazy to me and severely limits the cards potential. For me it might not be a big deal because I swap hardware fairly often, but most people hang onto hardware for years. I currently run a 4090...

Anyone running a 4090 on sub 1KW PSU?

I believe the idea of using a 1000W PSU with a high end system with a 4090 for sure has merit, it just is not absolutely required if you already have a good high power PSU. A 1000W would be more in it's efficiency sweetspot and would have overhead for future GPU/CPU power demands and compensate...

4090 almost no performance loss at 75% power limit sweet spot

Yeah I had messed with reducing the PL when I got my Suprim 4090. At 90% PL, I did a OC of +150 and +1000 memory and saw around a 5-7% performance boost (depending on benchmark) while consuming 50W less power at 400W peak. Not sure if it was 100% stable there, but gamed for a few hours...

Anyone running a 4090 on sub 1KW PSU?

No issues running my 4090 on a Corasair HX850i with a 7700X, (2) NVMe's, 1 SSD, EK AIO + 7 total fans. Debating picking up a newer PSU once there are more options out there and giving my HX to my son to replace his ancient LEPA G900-MA 900 W that has been running happily since late 2011.

    RTX 4090 [H] Owner's Official 3DMark Time Spy Scores

Picked up a new MSI Suprim (non X) and plugged it in today. Great looking card and no coil whine compared to the Gaming X I had before it. Although I did not use the supplied power adapter and used a PSU specific 3x1 cablemod power connector, so maybe that may have helped with the whine...

Who else is waiting on Zen 4 x3D before upgrading?

What really jumped out to me was the gaming power consumption. 44W average with the 1 CCX disabled (essentially what will be a 7800X3D) seems mightily impressive for the gaming performance achieved. 13900k was using over 3x as much power for essentially the same average gaming performance.

Anybody plan on grabbing one of the new RX7xxx Navi cards on launch?

Yeah as others have said, you should be good with a quality 750W. I was running my Merc with a HX850i and even with messing with an overclock I think it barely got much over 600W for my whole system at peak gaming with my 7700X Example playing.

SOLD: XFX SPEEDSTER MERC 310 Radeon RX 7900 XTX Black Edition

SOLD my XFX Merc 310 RX 7900 XTX Black. Purchased from NKD here on these forums for over $1200 a month ago. Nabbed a 4090 I wanted to play with so letting this bad boy go since it won't fit in my son's case. Fantastic card, a good amount faster than the reference 7900 XTX I had before it and...

RTX 4090 Port Royal Scores - Post your Runs!

Just picked up my MSI Gaming X today and started messing with it. 27346 with +175 core and +1300 memory. https://www.3dmark.com/pr/2137680 Interestingly I can go +1400 memory, but only if the core is lower. I think maybe I am running into a power wall since this card has only +6% max power...

Tips on actually getting a 4090?

Seems like NewEgg rarely gives free shipping any more. Usually seems to be $9.99 shipping though.

Tips on actually getting a 4090?

I've had good luck with MSI cards in the past, although I think the last one I owned was a GTX 1080 (still running in my brothers computer). Had great luck with MSI motherboards with a Meg Ace X570 my most recent. I actually had a DOA evga GTX 260 way back in the day, but problem free otherwise.

Tips on actually getting a 4090?

I think the MSI Suprim was also the model I was most interested in, mostly for aesthetic reasons though. I ended up ordering a Gaming X Trio from BB since I had that 10% off coupon and $100 in certificates I needed to use before they expired. Was not my #1 choice, but the price was right...

4090 worth it over 7900 XTX?

Agreed, at least at the quality settings (DLSS and FSR2) upscaling at 4k looks excellent 99% of the time. Balanced settings are pretty meh on occasion though (FSR more so than DLSS). Although I have not tried DLSS3 yet, almost want to pick up a 4090 just to play with it and see what I think.

Tips on actually getting a 4090?

Yeah there seems to be some weirdness going on over there. I am having issues with my new BB credit card. I was supposed to get a $100 new cardmember bonus, it says I was issued 0 in my account even though I have the card and it is activated and I did my obligatory purchase (42" LG C2) over 2...

Anyone seriously considering the 4070 TI

Yeah I suppose that is the real question. Just an example with the numbers, but would Nvidia prefer to sell 500,000 4070ti cards at $300 profit each or sell double the cards at 1,000,000, but 1/2 the profit at $150 each. If they stick to their guns and refuse to drop prices, they will...

Anybody plan on grabbing one of the new RX7xxx Navi cards on launch?

I think you'll like it. Fun card to play with and cools pretty well. I am still sort of tempted to try a 4090 if I could get one for the $1599 MSRP just for the hell of it, but the XTX has been rock solid for me so far (unless I undervolt too far). This was from my last gaming session with...

Anyone seriously considering the 4070 TI

100%. That gigabyte gaming oc model has been in stock almost non stop for the last week. A few other models hang around for hours and hours. Like NKD said, not sure is up with BestBuy though, they have not seemed to have any significant drops in a long time.

Anybody plan on grabbing one of the new RX7xxx Navi cards on launch?

Pretty sure AMD verified it was not a design flaw with the reference cards, it was a manufacturing defect on a few batches of coolers that did not have enough enough water in the vapor chamber impacting a small percentage of cards. I've heard reports all over the place from 1-11% of reference...

Hot Spot on Red Devil 7900 XTX LE

That hot spot temp seems high for the cooling potential on that card. But my questions is what is your ambient room temp? What is the actual fan speed when hitting those temps? If it is not consistently that peak 1300rpm or higher I would test locking your fan speed at 50-60 percent and see...

    7950x with XFX Merc 319 7900xtx

Yeah the XFX was overclocked and the 7700x has a negative voltage offset, which does increase the clocks a decent bit.

    7950x with XFX Merc 319 7900xtx

Not sure but maybe that error is from one of the tessellation settings in the Adrenalin software? Also, I have to say that the XFX card looks pretty dang good. Although I need to pull it out and install the brace, just to be safe.
