NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Well that answers that question...I really need to play around with cable layouts...nothing is quite definitive, and squeezing cables behind the motherboard is getting difficult, while a nest is forming behind the lower front panel. Are there any COTS ways of getting really closely spaced...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

No. 635 finally made it to my doorstep after quite a bit of messing about with the post office about delivery location. Necere, I recall a long, long time ago that you said a fan can be placed where the hard drive cage is located, yet still have the hard drive cage. Is this still true? If so...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Now that it's very clear that - even after more than a month - these will not be delivered, let alone arrive in the United States within the next week, does the USPS offer any way to change delivery address at this stage? I have my doubts, but from early shipment lists being invalidated to...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I'd be quite interested in a DVD drive, and as said, maybe even a Blu-Ray if it isn't terribly expensive. Do you, AFD, have any idea what the drive costs prior to any discount?

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

A bit of the first and third, more the first though...It'd just an Arduino with an old, now retired sparkfun IMU powered by a 9v battery for the duration of the trip which writes to an SD card. Battery life is terrible for this kind of application, so it's basically a single battery per flight...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I've always been wondering that as well, but I've been going around for 2 years with a Q08 system - granted, it's just a stock cooler - without much incident. I was told once by an agent that I should just take it out of my bag and, while it's a little awkward and probably strange or annoying to...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

A bit of a random question, but I only thought of it now that I'm getting an AIO for this, and I'm deciding between the H100i and the H220 (while I can still get it from NCIX). I'm sure everyone will favor the H220 in some way or another, but there's one little niggling with both of them...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Wow, that actually is quite a good deal, especially since it includes the slimline SATA and power adapter. It looks to be a standard size, but who knows if they've made some proprietary mounts or clearances. I'll lean to it working, but that's because there's not many options and I'd want it to...

Thank you! I searched through the thread and didn't find this :) I could have sworn I saw it but I wasn't sure.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I didn't notice the drive in those pictures of the prototype. That answers only half the question though...what about screws? I've received OEM packaged slim drives for small builds which don't come with the screws (I know, for example, that the SG05 doesn't include them), so will the case have...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Hey Necere, since I'm starting to get a few things for the case, are there any specifics for the optical drive? I'm looking around for a slot-loading slim drive, which is itself difficult, but should these drives not have any front bezel? The top panel leaves no slot for an eject button, so...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I recall you guys mentioning the cost depending heavily on the volume purchased. Does the fact that all 600 cases have been sold (and perhaps more, should another campaign arise!) mean anything to either the backers or to you two on the production side?
  13. N

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

The campaign has barely been out for a few hours - let alone days - and it already has over 100 backers. I won't assume that the current buying rate will sustain itself, but if it does, you guys have quite the number of orders on the horizon! Looking forward to seeing this on a desk in front...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Serial numbers? How, exactly, do you plan to number them? Does it add to the cost of production by any noticeable amount to engrave/etch each individually?

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

The hole is that size because it likely shares its width with the dimension of the bent, perpendicular portion of a PCI bracket. The PCI mounting bracket on the case is cut and bent from that panel itself.

Lian Li...isn't the one making this... They are but a contender in fabricating it, not the designers. Wait for the Kickstarter. (Another reason for a title change...)

You guys have a prototype? And a quote from LL? Is...is there hope? Or is it expensive?

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Have you guys a finalized design yet? Or are things still being modified? I've read lots of suggestions the last few pages, I'm just wondering what stage the project has reached.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

That's sort of the compromise with making cases this small. The very existence of small ITX cases defines compromise geared towards minimizing case size. The larger and larger a case of this type gets, the less a purpose it really serves. While I'd love to see hundreds of more varied choices...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Well, within reason. If this costs as much as a Caselabs STH10, I might have to decline, but even if it is, it's sure to gain popularity! How are things going with Lian Li?

The Q08 is much, much larger. I own the case. It's not a Prodigy, but it's huge for ITX.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Anything that will fit an Asrock Z77e, fits this case, and will let me push a 3570k to 4.5GHz with good thermals will do. As far as I know, only the H60 will do that. Usually the TSA are very computer-inept, so this also depends if they even see the liquid or not inside of an aluminum/copper...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I doubt a closed-loop cooler/radiator counts as an accessible liquid container. It was still sealed, but they gave it nary a strange look because of the packaging. They might ask me about it in the future, but it's a computer, I'm sure they'll recognize it. Even if I don't use an H60 in this...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

TSA hadn't any trouble with a closed loop H60 in it's box. What will the difference be when it's in a functioning PC? If I ever do have a custom loop (which I doubt I will, but maybe), then I'll just drain it.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I'm in college, and I have a netbook for portability. It does portability and battery-life better than any laptop could. Also, "any good WS laptop" isn't going to be as cheap as upgrading an already existing desktop for me (Well, downsizing moreso than upgrading). If I don't travel for...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

This is the very reason I've been following this build, and by its current dimensions, yes it will. Roll-aboards are hit-and-miss, however, since they're the most likely to get gate checked. Checking a desktop doesn't sound too pretty. Not to turn [H] into Flyertalk, but for a standard...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

And now the wait to hear back from Lian-Li? Years have already passed in my head. The only competitor, to me, is the Lan-gear Infinity, and it's already been 2 years without any real release.
  37. N

Sanity check and a few questions

Looks good. You're gonna have trouble getting a good CPU cooler into that case, though. If you want an H60, you're going to have to drop the front drive tray. That's an instant loss of ODD, 3.5" HDD, and the 2.5" mounts. If you go all-2.5" in the HDD department (as you list), you could pull it...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

It all depends on who can build it cheaper. But maybe Silverstone could, by including a PSU with these cases, decrease the overall price of the two. A combo deal, if you will. I can't imagine they'd sell an SG05 for $40 without the power supply, $80 of which is what the power supply sells for...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

If this design is inching closer to production, perhaps getting a kickstarter with some advertising (or at least threads) on other enthusiast forums would yield more support. I'm sure the idea of a case smaller than an SG05 holding a 240 radiator is very appealing. Where's the OP with the...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

A case this tiny sitting on the floor seems a bit counterintuitive, but otherwise you have a good point. Turning around the PSU and having spots for some filters (magnetic or clip on filters for the underside, perhaps?) would basically finalize this concept. I'm really looking forward to...
