I've bought quite a few refurbished things before, but never a pc component. Geeks.com seems to have quite a few refurbished drives for fairly cheap. Is there anything to look out for when purchasing a refurbished drive? Will I get about as much life as retail or OEM drive? Any info is appreciated.
Nevermind I actually went and bought an e6700 I found on eBay. I'm really new to the Core 2 CPU's so I really wasn't sure what was compatible with what. Thanks again for the help guys!
So my new e7400 just came in this morning and after installing it my pc won't POST. All the fans and cathodes are working but no video or any motherboard error beeps. I upgraded to the C2D from a Pentium D 820 and when I reinstalled the Pentium the pc ran fine. Any help, ideas, or suggestions...
Since I'll be receiving my tax returns soon I figured "why not upgrade the pos of a pc I have".
Only issue is I'm not really sure where to start, so I figured I'd ask the people over at [H] for some help. System consists of:
-Asus P5N-D
-Pentium D 820
-4GB Crucial ram
-BFG 9600GT OC...
Currently use the 16GB iTouch (mainly as a remote for my Sonos system) and a 80GB iPod Classic. Previous mp3 players include Zen V Plus and Zen Mosaic.
So here's the new setup. Sorry the quality (pics taken with the gf's older Cybershot)
The main setup:
The music stuff (i have a Marshall dual 12" amp but it takes up too much space in my room so it stays in the garage)
The rig:

A little off topic but I too am sort of in the same situation. I currently have a BFG 9600GT OC and was wondering if it would be better to either (A) upgrade to a GTX 260 or (B) add another 9600 in SLI. Adding another 9600 would benefit me financially due to other expenses right now but would it...
I currently own an Emerson (not top of the line, i know, but it was a gift and the best i can get right now) 32" lcd (720p, 1366 X 768) and (if possible) am planning on using it as my main monitor for my PC. I sit about 3 feet from the tv and am currently using an S-video cable from a 9600GT...
As of now i have a medium/light gaming/storage build. I recently purchased a Pioneer Blu-Ray drive at J&R since i got a damn good deal on it ($99.99+ tax). I was planning on installing it into my current build rather than building another HTPC machine. My build as of new consists of:
-Asus...
Specs are:
Corsair 400W PSU
2GB Crucial RAM
9600GT OC
80GB Seagate
160GB WD
C2D E6750
4 80mm case fans
1 120mm fan
Creative Labs sound card.
And i've also tried unhooking the 160GB WD drive and leaving the HDD in question still plugged in which ends up with the same results.
Alright here's the deal. I have an 80GB Maxtor SATA HDD and whenever the drive is plugged in to the pc I'll turn on the pc and less than 2 seconds later it shuts itself off before it can even POST. I don't have a different machine to test it on. Anyone here have any ideas as to what the problem...
It's an Antec Sonata. The PSU doesn't say Antec on it anywhere so i didn't want to jump to conclusions. I bought it from a local PC shop also so I'm not sure that it's the original PSU.
Hey guys this is my first build and i need some help. My setup consists of 2GB Crucial RAM, 9600 GT OC, C2D E6750, 3 SATA HDD's, one IDE HDD, 4 80mm LED case fans, and one 120mm LED case fan. I am currently using a 400W PSU and everything seems to be going smooth. Just wondering if maybe i...
Alright I'm planning on OCing my BFG 9600GT OC (in the new build) a little bit higher. Before I do this any advice please, such as what temps to try and keep it at, safe clock speeds, etc. Anything!. Thanks in advance guys.
Yeah i cut out bigger holes and put the grills over them. And by removing the heatsink cover i went from 46C full load to 44C and 38C idle to 36C idle. Please some one explain this to me.
The whole case will be green eventually. Just wanted to test out the color before i did the whole thing. I chose that green because it matches the color of my eclipse and because i've always liked green.
Alright guys some of you might've seen my XPS 600 in the other forums when i did the first case window. Now I have installed my second and ghetto painted to top panel and front bezel door. I have also found some pics of the system when i first received it form my cousin (for a VERY low price...
If anyone has ever modded/seen a modded XPS 600 case PLEASE send me a link or pictures or anything! I need some inspiration or ideas here for a side window since i already installed a top window (pics in my other thread). The design of this case makes it rather difficult for modifications...
If I had the money that would be my main priority. Unfortunately I'm still making payments on my motorcycle and can't really afford much of anything right now. Definetley gonna be picking up one of those eventually.
Yeah I am running in XP. So do you guys think I should just return the GS and try to pick up another GT a little later down the road since i don't really have the cash for it now or is there a chance they will cooperate together?
Thanks for all the help :D
Alright everyone, here's my scenario. I have a 7900 GT CO with a 7900 GS on the way. Planning to use in SLI. I normally use my two monitors plus my TV. Two monitors running on the 7900 with the TV running off of a PCI 5500. Now what i want to do is use the SLI to run ONE monitor for gaming and...
I was thinking possibly doing a bright green coat then a gloss coat, then doing the same to the ugly blue front panel. And i picked up some rubber window molding at Autozone. I was suprised to find it and it was only $6.50 for a 10 ft. roll. Will be painting, applying that, and installing a...
