I bought the GTX295 water cooled version from BFG. Buying it with the block installed already takes out the hassle of you having to remove the stock cooling and trying to install the block yourself, especially with the GTX295. Plus the BFG water cooled version comes with their lifetime warranty.
Is 1x MCP655-B with the EK Rev2 top enough for the following loop or do I have to use 2 pumps. I'm trying to keep it neat by only using 1loop instead of 2.
Motherboard = EVGA X58 SLI
CPU = Core i7 965
Video = BFG GTX 295 with DD Water Block
LOOP = MicroRes -> MCP655-B -> 1st MCR320...
I'm getting ready to put my new pc together, but was wondering if it is worth it to get blocks for the NB, SB, Mofset on the P6T Deluxe. Does the board get hot enough to warrant the blocks or would it just be a waste of money.
Also is 1X MCP655 with a EK D5 top using 3/8" tubing
enough for...
Best $11.00 investment especially if you do a lot on maintenance on you system.

Orchard Supply has the most o-ring assorts from a local store. I was able to find them there after not seeing them at Lowe's and Home Depot. The only problem is that Orchard Supply isn't located everywhere.
High speed yate yoons and a fan controller, that way in the summer you can turn the yates up. They're quiet when you use the fan controller to put them at 5v or 7v. I have 2x MCR320's with a total of 6x high speed yate yoons. Quiet since I have them all on 5v with the fan controller.
Thanks for compliments. The case does come in black version, but it still has a silver front panel. The Mozart is only 27" high x 13" wide x 13" depth. I took out the foam filter from behind the front panel black screen, for better airflow. The tubing is Durelene PVC tubing 3/8in. ID 1/2in...
Thanks, the Mozart case is an excellent case for water cooling. There's enough room on the back of the case to mount 2x MCR220 rads without having to use any mounting brackets. The case's depth is only 14" which provides excellent air flow from front to back. There are slots for a total of...
1 MCP350 was fine on my old setup, I only had a decrease of 2C when I added a 2nd MCP350 to the line. Just remember to get either Petra's or Alphacools modified top for your pump.
My old system = MCP350 with Petras top > MCR220 > Apogee GT > DD 680i > 2nd MCR220 > 8800 GTX > Alphacool SB >...
My revised setup with advice from this forum. QX6700 overclocked to 3.2 MHz. I used to have everything on a single loop, but changed it to a dual loop configuration. Temps went down with dual loop!
Loop 1 = MCP350 > MCR320 > Apogee GT > DD 680i > Microres
Temps = 32-34C idle, 46-50C load...
Your system is fine with just the 1 pump that you have. My old loop had 2x mcp350 petra tops in series powering a 2x mcr220, apogee gt, 680i chipset, alphacool chipset, 8800gtx, and I only had 2 degree celsius improvement from using 1x mcp350 petra top. So I went back to just using 1 pump...
I'd go with the Swiftech MCP350 pump, but I would also get Petra's or Alphacool's modified top for the pump to improve the performance. The MCP350 is a really quite pump and works great with the top.
My current loop is 1x MCP350 with Alphacool top and res -> MCR220 -> Apogee GT -> 680i SB...
The only problem that I've had with HydrX was that it always discolored my tubing. I've used Clearflex and Tygon and my tubes always turned milky white for some reason. The fluid in the MicroRes was green and fine, but tubes got discolored. Now I use Danger Den MCT5, and no more tube...
Chances are you got a returned unit from Jab-Tech. I always order directly from Swiftech, it's a little more expensive and I get charged tax, but you can't beat the direct customer service from Swiftech. Swiftech's customer service answers email and will get you RMA if your not happy, plus...
Do I have to use the same tubing size for my whole loop or can I use 2 different sizes? I have a MCP350 with Petra's top which must use the larger tubing 7/16, but I want to use 3/8 for the rest of the loop, since 7/16 is such a pain to take off the barbs. Will the two different tubing sizes...
I just bought 2x MCR320 and I was wonder which way should I mount them on the back of my pc. Inlets on the top, or inlets on the bottom? Or does it really matter at all? I already have holes in my case for the inlets to be on the bottom, so I'm hoping that it won't matter, but if it does...
For RMA's just email [email protected] or you can call her at (562) 595-8009 for a RMA number. They're pretty quick with good customer service. I had defective micro-res and turn around time was only 1 week.
One heck of a nice clean job! How long did it take for you to put that all together? And were did you get the custom length SATA II cables from. Did you make them or buy them?
Here are my specs for my Setup:
Intel Quad Core QX6700
EVGA 680i revised edition with Quad Core fix
4GB Crucial @ 1000mhz
150GB Raptor
2x 500GB SATA II
8800 GTX XFX
Water Setup:
2x MCP350 with Alphacool Tops, 1x with res
2x MCR220
Apogee GT
DD 8800 GTX
DD 680 Chipset Block...
Thanks graysky. Always wanted to overclock my QX6700, but never knew how to do it. With your instructions I was able to overclock to 3.2 for now! Very informative guide!
A mcp350 or 355 with a alphacool top and resevoir would work. That's what I'm using in my loop for a QX6700 and 8800 GTX. You can buy the pump as a kit or buy the parts seperately
Alphacool Laing DDC-Pump 12V Pro Water Tank. This way no fill port is needed and the loop is easy to bleed of air...
I used 7/16 maskerteer, since tygon was expensive. Just heat up a cup of water for 2 minutes in the microwave. I put the ends of the tubing in the cup of water for about 10 seconds, just enough to get it soft and it was a snap to get the tubing over the fittings.
I use MCT-5 from Danger Den, it's suppose to be non conductive. Don't know if it is or not, since I haven't spilled any on the motherboard yet! Expensive though, $20.00 for a bottle.
AS5 on the GPU, and ceramique on the the ram and the other chips. I had originally put AS5 on everything on my GTX block and discovered that not all of the memory chips were making contact with the water block unless the screws were on really tight, making the card bend. So I took it apart...
I would mount Swiftech Micro Res near or above your cd drives, that way you'll go out of the res and into the pump. Buy the micro res version that comes with the mounting hardware brackets, that way you can mount it above the drives.
LOL, that made for some good reading on a boring Sunday afternoon. Gotta love the hobby, water cooling is never easy and just cut and dry. Nice pictures.
Thanks for all the advice from everyone. Should I keep everything on 1 loop or will my temperatures be any better on 2 loops, 1 for QX6700 and 1 for the 8800 GTX?
I'm upgrading my system and need some help on setting up my loop.
This is what I will be using:
2x MCP350 with Alphacool modified tops,
2x Swiftech MCR220 QP
DD-680i block on the NB
Alphacool NB-SLI block on the SB
QX6700 with Apogee GT
8800 GTX with a DD 8800 GTX Block
I'll be using 7/16"...
Vorg can you post pics of yor NB and SB? How did you modify the SB. I got the Danger Den block for the SB. Didn't know that it could be used on the NB too, it doesn't block your GTX card? Thanks
