Yes, I am in the US and the last pccw server I hit is usually in LA. From all the items I read before posting, I had the impression changing ISP's would be the only solution.
So my ISP could put pressure on PCCW to fix their problem, but likely will not?
Perhaps at one time (or still is) but now, "a global service provider with offices throughout Asia, North America, South America, Europe and the Middle East."

I have been back and forth with the GW support team about ingame lag that (at times) makes the game unplayable. To make a long story short, they asked me to run a program called pingplotter while playing to see where I am losing packets. There is 10-100% packet loss, but it is occurring at...
Thanks for the input :D
I did get it from the Egg.
No, in retrospect, buying the ATI branded card would have been worth the extra $ based on what I have read and heard from friends.
A friend who had an x700 die, possibly from OC'ing, contacted ATi about an RMA, and he had a brand new...
Here's what it says:
"RMA Replacement
If you receive a defective item and would like to exchange it for a replacement of the same make and model, select RMA Replacement. Please note that all packing materials, manuals, diskettes, CDs, digital media, blank warranty cards and other...
So I had enough of my x1950pro VRM's overheating and I RMA'd it to the etailer I purchased it from. I have had the card for awhile so I could only get it serviced or replaced.
I guess I am lucky, but I never had to RMA anything before. Anyway, I sent EVERYTHING in as instructed: card, cables...
Good info, but still doesn't work for me.
I have tried the above instructions (with 8600gts, 158.22, 2.01) and the fan tab still doesn't show up. It is apparently a driver/riva thing because every time I load up rivatuner after all the rebooting I get a message saying that my driver is...
Very nice rig :D
I have been wanting to get a Lanbox for awhile...I know you mentioned the airflow was good, how are the temps? Particularly on your GPU?
Yeah we are talking about 8600.....
Also, the fan doesn't seem to change speeds when in a 3D app. and when I set the fan to 100% with rivatuner, I still can't see or hear a difference.
What's up with that?
Well, I just got my card and I was able to get my core up to 750, but I can only get my memory up to 1045  It stays fairly cool, though, only topping out at 75C at load.
I am using ATItool 0.26 and I see small artifacts past 1045 on the memory. Why would the OC on the mem be so low...
Nice, that is better than the factory OC. How are the temps? Before and after OC?
I, too, have a SFF and was thinking of picking up the XFX to replace my half dead x1950pro. It is $160 after MIR at the egg, which I find to be very reasonable especially if it OC's so well.
Yeah, based on the...
I have not been able to find a review or thread where OCing one of the standard versions, 675/2000 particularly of the XFX and evga brands, has been tested. And the ones I did find were only voltmods.
Does anyone know of (or tried) to OC the standard 8600gts without a voltmod and wouldn't...
I have to agree with Simpson simply because I have had a bad experience with my x1950pro (Sapphire).
I cannot game for more than an hour or so before I get errors which are apparently due to overheating VRM's. This is Sapphire's fault, and some of the other versions run fine, but I have...
Might want to check this site out: http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-X1700.2157.0.html
You can compare any mobility card and yes, 7900gs >> x1700
Heh, on the regular version? ...technically, but: http://www.sapphiretech.com/en/forums/showthread.php?t=8522&page=13&pp=10 #127 and henceforth.
It is your risk!
Edit: Maybe I was not clear enough, but if you take the stock HSF off the Sapphire x1950pro and put a zalman vf900 on you will...
x1950pro, just don't get the "regular" one from Sapphire. I have read where other makes are having problems as well, so be careful which one you purchase. The Sapphire "ultimate" solved the problem though. I wouldn't buy another Sapphire since they screwed over all the people who purchased the...
Noooooooooooooooooooo!!! You will fry your VRM's in open air. If you do this you need to add some heatsinks to the VRM's as well. Notice the huge copper heatsink on the ultimate? You need to fashion something like this or you will be enjoying your gaming 5 minutes at a time.
(ps that was not...
Nope. Installed them and my x1950pro runs just fine. Played NWN2 for a few hours without a problem (well, the VRM's overheat, but that has nothing to do with drivers).
Anyone who has this card and experiences game crashes, this is most likely a result of the VRM's overheating. You can check this out on the Sapphire forums where it deatils the problems people are having. My advice is to exchange your card for something else, or at least let Sapphire know about...
Your link was dead. Are you referring to the "standby bug" ? Someone mentioned this in a review on newegg, but I can't find much about it anywhere else. I tried OCing my x1950pro but my game crashed after an hour or so, I thought it was just the game but maybe it was this card? Anyone verify...
I have speedfan and ATI ccc for detecting temps on my x1950pro, speedfan detects the the temp as 7C less than ccc. Which is correct? I am thinking ccc, and I searched a couple threads where someone has mention speedfan detecting temps inaccurately. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.
OK, mine was stupidity. My ram wasn't seated all the way apparently. My mobo does not make any noise until everything is in ok and it boots up. So the "try one part at a time" trick didn't work in my case.
I apologize, but I did not read the entire post, so maybe this has been said before... but I would recommend going to a school where you have a lot of options as far as major to explore. If I were you, I would go to the best school(s) you can afford then narrow it down to the best engineering...
Oh man, it finally booted and all I did was reseat ram and HSF (with new goop). I guess the ram wasn't seated properly....or the computer gods smiled upon me. Hope it boots again once I put it all back together.
Thought I could share my experience thus far with this new item. Hope this can help some people out there (including myself!).
Just picked up this mobo and assembled my system (for gaming, movies, storage):
nview of course
thermaltake tr2 500w
amd athlon 3800 orleans
Crucial 2x1GB...
Heh, hope you can get it to work! I just picked up one myself and no post whatsoever. Not sure if it's a bad board though, so it might be something else. Good luck!
Hi all,
I have a similar problem with my new build....mobo lights up and fans spin, but no noise or beeps, no signal to monitor. I have tried the above steps except I have not tried another PSU or CPU (I have not owned a desktop for over 5 years, only notebooks) so no spare parts to test...
True, but it also makes sense to me to test it on a cheaper system since that's were this card will end up for most buyers. In fact, I am considering this card for my "budget build" which I am trying to keep under $750 or so. My inclination is to save money on the processor, etc. and put more...
Heh, I guess I erased the part where I mentioned that it supports shader model 2 when I edited my post (hence my support for the x850). But I did mention that the x850 would run the game fine with some eye candy off as a result of the lack for SM 3 support.
