Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
well seeing that you have a 8800 gtx and hopefully game at a resolution of at least 1600x1200, you probably wouldn't even notice a performance hit swapping cpu's. and every oc will be different with each cpu but yes you should be able to match performance...
a setting to let your vid card run in sync with your monitors refresh rate to reduce tearing ex-vsync enable 60Hz, ur vid card will only go up to 60fps
it is cheaper because it is oem, meaning not coming in a retail box and all that. here is a good option for 250 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102051
i would upgrade now, quadcore is still months away. once intel quad comes then you are gonna see amd quad on the way and wait longer just get am2 right now or c2d and be happy
if ur not worried about crossfire or sli you could get a much cheaper board but still an option.

to me it just seems too much for a mobo, could put that xtra $ towards vidcard or bigger psu or whatever , just my 2 cents
yes the x850 was top dog!! woohoo!! plenty of other choices too!! just because a game supports sm3.0 and ur running a geforce6 doesn't mean its gonna be slow by any means. farcry runs great with 6 series cards for example...
i wouldn't exactly say single core is the way to go for gaming anymore, if i were u go for a x2 3800+, plenty of power for that price range and overclockable, yes ati can do aa+hdr but what is the point when your game is playing like a slide show.
