  • Damn dude, you're popular. I may have some competition for the "most profile views" contest. :p

Welcome to the moderator team. :)
hey, would you use the heatpipe HSF that comes with the 955 or should i reuse my AC Freezer 64 Pro? apparently they use the same exact bracket going from 754 all the way to AM3, my research says it will snap right down on the AM3 socket
Just want to say thanks for all of your helpful posts, especially in GenHard. I enjoy your value-minded perspective and your posts are helping to shape my next rig. Thank you!
Just wanted to post a message of thanks for the tips you gave me. You pretty much built my new computer. Kudos brotha!
Linksys E3000 Or Airport Extreme, I know your a smart guy Danny wanted to see what you thought.

Linksys E3000 Or Airport Extreme? Which is better and why? And any other thoughts? I am a heavy PC gamer. Also I have my PS3 and Wii wireless.
I found a great thread about what I just asked you. Thanks again for your time I need to keep looking.
A man was driving when a traffic camera flashed. He thought his picture was taken for exceeding the speed limit, even though he knew he was not speeding. Just to be sure, he went around the block and passed the same spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed. He thought this was quite funny, so he slowed down even further as he drove past the area, but the traffic camera flashed yet again. He tried a fourth time with the same result. The fifth time he was laughing when the camera flashed as he rolled past at a snail's pace. Two weeks later, he got five traffic fine letters in the mail for driving without a seat belt.

    LOL
EDIT: thanks, I didn't see your reply when I sent this!

I'll see if I could just mod casing of the seasonic 400W with a bigger fan (the same way the INWIN has it), to keep the cooling fans on a more silent level.

I heard Seasonic is a great brand, despite the fact I accidentally fried several before the concept of rails and wattage became clear to me.

    Thanks,
    -Jeremy
Ahh. Yeah. Keep trying to find the Sparkle, Shuttle or Seasonic PSUs. The Inwin is not worth it IMO.
    Okay, thank you!

I was asking because on the HP Slimline thread:http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1224011

we have 3 main options for PSU:
    The Sparkle SPI270LE 270 watt
    The Shuttle PC50 300 watt <- replaced by pc60
    the In-Win IP-P300F1-0 300 watt

and a server (but still decent) Seasonic 400W psu (also a 200W version), that is noted as noisey.

The problem is, these are hard to get! (except for the INWIN).

    Thanks again!
    -Jeremy
They fall short. I would not recommend any Inwin PSU unless it has been properly reviewed and passed. As far as the UL page, don't worry about it too much. Probably a mistake with the PSU label.
    Hello,

Are INWIN PSUs (not the commander series) considered decent PSUs? Or do they fall short?
    specifically:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817374002

The UL page for it is rater confusing to me, as it states a maximum of 13V+, with 29A (out of the advertised 32A) on the 12V rail! Other products from INWIN seem not to have that issue?

    Thank you!

While he has the same name as me he is a different person;' his requirements are basically what I'd recommend..
Hey Danny, would you mind commenting on my thread? http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1420083 I know everyone has good input, but I was wondering if you could address the video card I posted compared to yours. Also if the RAM, and either mobo you recommended (microcenter and newegg), will be sufficient to get to 3.6 ghz. Also, what do you think of the thermal paste recommended? You don't need to reply to the thread if you don't want to, you could always pm it to me.. Thanks!
While you're up, I figured that I could give you a "sneak peek" into my upgrading plans.

This weekend I'm going to purchase the first set of parts, and take some pictures of the "before" desktop. The current plan is to upgrade the laptop first, so I have at least one computer running throughout this entire process.

On Friday, I'm planning on getting the WD Scorpio Black 320GB notebook HDD, the Samsung SH-S223F, the G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2 667 laptop RAM, and the WD Caviar Black 1TB 3.5in HDD (using the promo code) from NewEgg. I'm also going to pick up the WD6400AAKS from ZZF while it's still under $70 shipped (hopefully, by Friday...). I'll probably also pick up the Vista Home Premium OEM DVD as well... but I'm holding off until I can get a new laptop wireless card for myself.
