with out looking at the nubmers, and just looking at your :D, id say a turion. any one who has no clue about the numbers could geuss that though.. am i right?
 
nope, remember that turions have a model number similar to the fx, but it's Mx-xx instead of the classic PR we're used to seeing..

it's newark, the 90nm mobile :D
note the BKX, unlidded 754, 1.35v, 95ºc
then BU.. the turions are LD for the 1mb iirc, so it means that these are indeed mobile san diegos as opposed to the turion specific chip with low power transistors that run slower.

Turion is nothing to be excited about. The newark is far more important for S754.
 
agreed. especially since turion appears to have "slow" transistors that don't put out as much heat, but also don't clock as well.
 
A large part of why I went with 939 is that I get the good lovin' from 754's joy and M2's to boot.

Here we are starting in on the 3rd week of no chips...will they finally reward our continued devotion?
 
Well, any tech on 754 works upward to 939. Plus you get multicore & dual channel. No Pacifica but once you're already using two seperate physical cores having 4 virtual cores is less significant.

but there's no s939 mobiles :D

Ah, I get what you're saying then. Dualcore on AMD is just so expensive though. I didnt expect it to cost $500 for the base model, haha.

i think its funny they named the better processor after a crappy place in new jersey and delaware and the other lesser processors after beautiful locations such as venice and san diego. Shouldn't it be the other way?

Newark is a nicer sounding name.
There's a Newark in California, but it's near Richmond, which is a terrible place to live. But yeah, Venice and San Diego are nice cities. I've been to San Diego, and it's just... nice. Never been to Venice though, but what's not to love about a city that's slowly sinking?
 
Entropy > Everything, but I'd heard they were making progress with preserving Venice?

And Toledo is famous for its steel, especially when used in the making of blades. I thought it fairly appropriate.

I think Hiroshima would be the best core name ever. I'd buy it, even if it was an Intel or VIA chip.

as baron pointed out, there's one in CA. though Newark, DE comes to mind first, cause it's closest to where i live ;)

as for hiroshima, definitly. it better be a hot core though :p

They have the same PR, though the clawhammer probably performs better since 200MHz is better than dual channel.

I paid $299.99 for my clawhammer. I'm sure if it were $340 like the San Diego, I would have gone for it at the same time.

i said he couldnt afford it as a joke because he said they suck how could you possibly say that a chip that isnt even out yet sucks? So he tried to prove that they sucked by posting his kinda sucky oc that he got on an entirely different chip the san diego 3700+ and the clahammer 3700+ have NOTHING in common except for the name and price (and cache size)

I wasnt trying to prove they suck. I really like this chip, and if the San Diego performs comparably to it like AMD says, you're going to have a really nice CPU. Christ.

Though, 2765MHz is fairly good for a 130nm chip on air.
