The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

Just finished the first play through and really disappointed that I never got any good loot. Even the end boss didn't drop anything great. About the best thing I have is a little pistol that does like 3K damage on every shot. Other than that just a 1K sniper rifle and am at Level 31. Does this sound right?

A 3k pistol at that level seems pretty good.

this game they really made the loot stingy. the +rare loot thingy is a joke, the loot overall sucks so much you need not bother with it. The only real sources for good loot are a few bosses that you can try farming. make god-liaths, farm monster, radio guy, etc. but even that 3k pistol will not take you anywhere in PT2.

I won the game last night. The best gun I ever got was the one for completing Mal's quest. It looks like it only does around 100 damage per shot, but it's amplified by something like x 1000. The shots are slow, but it'll kill pretty much anything short of the final boss in a matter of seconds. Even the last boss was pretty much a breeze with it.

I'm going to take a little time off to play my backlog and I figure I'll come back once 2-3 DLC's come out.

The game was a blast - I had a ton of fun with it and completed all of the side missions except the after-game one. Worth every penny, and short of a couple random crashes, it was bug-free on my end, too.

My buddy and I beat the game about a week and a half ago, we killed the first Yeti boss guy on the hardcore mode difficulty with our new weapons, and kind of stopped playing there. We haven't touched it since. Doubt we'll go back, but we'll see.

I played the game first through rather quickly and didn't do all the side work.
I'm nearly done with a fresh start using nvidia GPUs this time.
I did most of the side quests.
I agree the game is nearly bug-free. EXCEPT last night, I was awarded a fabulous sidearm after finishing some mission in the Opportunity City (or what ever it's called). I was on my way back to the rapid transport thing and my game just went black. Of course it wasn't saved yet, so I lost the sidearm and had to re-do the end of the mission and the reward was different. arrrgggggh.

I love the game and the physx with nvidia is pretty cool.

The game is full of bugs. Like when you are walking your character sometimes gets stuck on invisible cracks in the ground. The way your shots seem to pass through mobs doing no damage. And mobs for no reason will just stop shooting at you, or reset, or stop trying to kill you. Other times if you stand in a certain spot they stop attacking you as well. And how many times have mobs been attacking you that they have went to duck behind the wall but they look for shelter on the side of the wall nearest you and stand with their backs to you.

AS for the gazillion guns, well, I have opened a good few chests now with two of the same gun and once even opened a chest with 4 guns that were exactly the same!!

I have other issues with the game as well. But I won't go on.

Personally I think the game is ok. I doubt I will replay it when I am finished one run through. CAn't put my finger on why it is, but I prefer the first borderlands and played that through many times. I just can't see myself doing the same witht this one.

My situations with lock-ups weren't that bad, but they were frustrating. In both cases I was nearly dead and in the middle of a battle. I was clearly being shot at the time as the weird fisheye shield effect was on my screen. The game started to slow down for a second then it just flat out froze. The music was continuing to play, but Windows reported the game was "not responding." When I restarted the game in both cases my active quest had reset back to having not been completed at all. In one case, it was no big deal. In another it was one of those 8-part missions with a lot of collecting...so that sucked. I didn't lose any decent loot, though.

I agree, I've been stuck in those cracks before, but a simple "pause" and "resume" will fix it.

I think your other descriptions are just bad chinks in the AI, I've seen them just walk away in the middle of a fight, too.

Overall, I've been very happy with this game versus the first, many improvements and few problems.

My only gripe about the whole thing is one should be able to find "golden keys" while in the game that will open the chest in the base camp. There need to be more super weapons throughout the game.

Just farm the bosses you need for "super weapons"... after all, the golden chest doesn't actually give you that good objects, and doesn't give you legendaries.

Farming bosses...so far I rarely get anything decent from any boss farming. I've also heard of people farming 100+ times with no decent drops. I haven't gotten to the Warrior yet, though, so maybe that's a better boss to farm than all of the ones I've done so far.

I found out to get a good loot form farming bosses those must difficult to kill. I was farming big ass robot in "get to know Jack" mission and it was tought. every time I killed it I was getting 10 000 XP and very good loot. Then during farming I leveled up from 34 to 35 and suddenly started to get only 5000 XP from killing the robot and loot become meh. So, if you farm the boss make sure it is way over your level and very tought to kill. Otherwise it is useless.

switch to PL2 and restarted the DLC and fuck nuggets...everything kills me in one or two hits.

I have one weapon that is worth a damn which happens to be a flame sniper that does 1800k damage + massive flame.

If you level your character up to 50 somehow then presumably all the quests would be level 50?

By somehow I mean to go sit in a server with someone higher and level up.

Farming only makes sense at level 50, farming a boss on pt1 is pointless.

the mission levels are assigned once they become "available". Areas (loot, enemies, vending machines) will scale to the missions that go there. Not sure how PT2.5 handles PT2 missions, but for conquered areas the bosses should be 50+. PT2 also is a huge pain with crap weapons, you can't farm if you keep on dying.

well, they did something in the DLC to make the game run worse. almost seems like a physics thing.

Non DLC run Awesome, get into the DLC, get into any battle and I start getting lag. if not fighting anything, it never lags.

cursed pirates also suck..

would be nice to play the game for longer than 10 minutes without getting kicked off

New shift codes are up for a few hours.

WinPC: C3CJB-HB3ZZ-F33TB-BTJJT-TXKRF

Played a bit last night. Was able to do the
"TOP GUN"
mission. Hilarious and awesome. Especially the last few guys who come out,
I never expected to see Iceman in this game!

crap - why do shift codes always pop up when I'm at work :(

My main gripe with the game is that it ran FLAWLESSLY for about 2 weeks, up to a level 30something Gunzerker, and now the game refuses to remember my key bindings.

I've uninstalled the game, does a repair, nothing seems to fix it. It's annoying as hell starting up a game and wasting a few minutes EVERY time getting my keys right. In addition to this, it never remembers the last character I had 'loaded' I have two characters and the default first menu choice now is always "new game" instead of "continue"

Annoying.

They've done 3 different sets in the last 24 hours, so I can't really fault them for that anymore. However, I wonder if they are ever going to allow redemptions on the website at all, because I thought they were done with testing and Pitchford tweeted something like "SHiFT redemptions are in-game only". Seriously hope not, because otherwise the website is completely and utterly useless.

I farmed the Warrior a couple times last night for (slightly) better weapons. I went back and finished a couple of the Caustic Caverns missions. I'm at level 35 now and have noticed that most of the enemies have leveled up since I first visited as well. Looking forward to maybe tackling the Captain Scarlett DLC this weekend. I want to wrap up all the PT1 missions first though.

Is the lag in the DLC just something we have to wait for them to patch? Or has anyone figured out a way to fix it?

Main game is fine, and DLC was a little laggy, but is getting worse as I get further in when in firefights. It's damn near unplayable.

Only read if you've finished the DLC

Did anyone kill Scarlett? After I killed her dog and she dropped the gun she just vanished in smoke and I never saw her again. She did have a health bar but I wanted to let her finish talking before I killed her. Can she be killed?
