The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

I'm definitely doing the side missions as I go. I'm a weird completionist when it comes to games like this. I even did all of the Fink's Slaughterhouse and 100 bandits missions with the critical hits/weapons and everything.

The missions I hate the most are the timed ones. There was one in the Highlands where you had to deliver guns to a bunch of different mailboxes that SUCKED. I must've tried it 7-8 different times, and I swear that the amount of time on the clock seems to tick down at a different pace every time you try it, too. I googled a YouTube video of it and the guy looks like he's going in slow motion but he still makes it.

my friends and i, in our co-op and my solo game, are doing all side quests possible before moving on. i think it makes me enjoy the game more, helps with leveling and loot, and prepares me to skip all side quests for PT2.

as for the courier mission, i did it with 2 buddies. one stayed by the bounty board to activate it, me and someone else went to separate areas to start on both sides. my friend stats the quest and teleports to one of our cars and helped us round up the rest. i might have cleared you off my friends list (i cleared everyone off my list), but i can help you if you need. Been working a lot lately, i'm usually only on after midnight central time. shoot me a PM if you need a hand.

Are you stating that it is not possible to level up my character from 38 to 50 playing DLCs only?

the issue will be the levels of your enemies. 4 levels below and more you get 1 or 2 xp per kill. if the DLC gives you missions at your level that should work fine, if not you won't get any xp and the loot will suck

I play it the same way. This way the game never gets frustrating. I hope you made sure to go clear the area before doing that timed mission. Otherwise its a bitch.

Regarding the loot level gaps. I think it is a great mechanic. Yes sometimes it is a more of a challenge than others, but the challenge is fun, makes you try a little harder and then suddenly you hit a new loot paradigm and you get to blow through the opposition for a while again. :D

I guess I disagree. I feel like having a stable difficulty level would make a lot more sense than making it frustratingly hard and then all of a sudden a switch flips and it becomes incredibly easy.

With the difficulty - so far I've been happy with it going entirely solo as Axton. The mailbox mission was the only really tough one, and I honestly think it was just luck. The time I finally completed it I literally did the same thing I did on my other runs and I finished with about 30 seconds left. I'm convinced the clock is/was glitched. I know that if you use the perk that makes your car have more turbo it actually gives you less time - so there's something fishy.

I haven't completed the game yet, but I think the Giant Skag is the only single enemy that has killed me more than once. I think I killed it on the 3rd or 4th try. The other times I've died have just been me getting overwhelmed or making dumb mistakes. I've died plenty of times - but I have no real complaints as to why I did.

If the dial is turned in infinitesimal increments, I dont think you feel much variation in resistance and or character power. Which to me is boring. Anyway have not encountered any frustratingly hard parts so far (PT2 lvl 47).

I wouldn't say once per level is an "infinitesimal increment"...there are only 50 levels and you don't level that often. Maybe once per two levels, then? In any case, right now it feels like once per 5-7 levels (if you take the time to do all the side missions before proceeding down the story mission stuff).

I've hit a few parts where I had to die and retry more times than was still fun to do.

Mailboxes are very doable as long as you don't waste time and engage enemies.

Ore Chasm is a PITA....simply not enough amo. My favorite side quest though.

Yeah, I was running out of ammo as wel. Then I went out, found infinite ammo pistol and returned to Ore Chasm for revenge. Hahahahaaaaa. Evil laught.....

As far as "saving" quests for PT2.5 is concerned, should I just ignore all the yellow "!"s and stick to the main quest, or is it better to have them all in my Mission Log for after I beat the game again?

Not there yet, but in BL there are no quests in PT2.5, you just farm areas and everything is at your level or higher. if you are @ level 50 then it may not matter.

I don't believe the mailbox quests lead to any others, and the reward for the really crazy one in the Highlands was pitiful.
The one from Three Horns Valley is no big deal if you just go over to that area near the water and wipe out all of the enemies first.
The last one in the Eridium Blight is a breeze. If you start at the one by itself on the far side of the map and don't stop, you'll literally be able to finish it with more than 8 or 9 minutes left on the clock.

I think I'm going to give the Ore Chasm a go this evening. Anything I should be aware of, other than the people who are having issues with ammo?

Also - for the missions with the extra side rewards (the box with the +) - does that affect the rewards items you get or just XP? So far I've completed all but 1 doing the extra stuff, but I'm kind of getting burnt out on some of those.

As much as I like Dishonored for what it is I'm still coming back to this thing and it's going to be a bit higher on my GOTY shortlist when it's all said and done.

I haven't even been playing any other games except this in the last few weeks. :p

About the Creature Slaughter Dome, is it playable in every playthrough now that i've unlocked it with the preorder? or is it like the golden keys and i can only play it once. i'm at the annex in my game but am only level 24, so i figured i'd wait until later. but if i can play it with every character later, i won't wait too long.

I haven't had much time to play, so I haven't even finished PT1 yet. :(

Not burnt out yet because of that, probably.

there are virtually no drops in ore chasm, so the only reward is completion and XP. The + tasks are to get kills based on critical hits. If your character can do massive head shots then go for it, otherwise maybe not. The only real advice possible is to carry the strongest weapons you have - which I am sure you will do. Since no loot, don't bother with the +rare enhancement. Gear towards survival or destruction. You should also know how to kill the bots. Red eye with a sniper or inside where the arms connect, except the sergeant bots, they are red eye only. Have a shotgun for the planes and perhaps corrosion weapons. For location, I found the transport crate on the far left platform to work the best. As for the jet wave they are easy if you shoot them when they spawn on the hillside. you will usually have to come out to finish clearing a wave. it is the time to scavenge and kill the stragglers. When you hear sounds from the horns a new wave is starting, and if you are not familiar with the waves you better haul ass back to your safety. The 7th wave is 2 constructors that continuously rain missles and they will be a PITA. good luck.

Anyone got the Captain Scarlett DLC yet?

i have the season pass, so its just a matter of downloading it. i don't know if i'm going to play it first or continue on with the story mission. we finally started the wildlife exploitation story mission so we may keep doing that first.

So, what's the deal with the "+" sub-tasks? Do they make quest rewards loot any better or do they only affect XP?

dont quote me on this but for me it seems like when ever i do the + bonus parts of missions the bosses drop better loot. but that could just be random luck playing a part.

I found that to definitely be the case for the mission where you have to kill all those assassins.

Good question. Maybe take a look at what the quest rewards are when you first get it and then after you complete the + sub-tasks and see if the rewards get any better.

Captain Scarlett is a great DLC so far. Highly recommended.

Pretty harsh Rabid Stalkers now :D ...and great loot! Pirate mayhem!

Memory issue here or something:

I preordered Deluxe Vault Hunter Edition back in June. Did Season Pass come with that, too? If so how was I supposed to activate it?

I read there's a new currency now, some sort of crystals? Have they done anything else with Eridium in the DLC yet?

I'm only level 27 or so, and I've maxed out all Eridium upgrades and have something like 75 Eridium built up already (max of 99). They needed to expand the use of it since so many higher-level enemies drop it like crazy. Plus you get it a lot of the time from slot machines.

I don't believe so. You got the Premium Club stuff, but Season Pass was something else entirely. If somehow you did get it, it should have been a Steam key.

Looks like it wasn't even available in a preorder situation for anyone.

Well, I was able to "pre-order" the Season Pass, but it was a separate purchase. I believe it was $22.50 on GMG with a 25% off coupon code. They might have a 20% off coupon still available, not sure.

yea, they need to. even early on, I felt the addition of the eridium currency wasn't needed since all it did was give you ammo upgrades. The stuff was so easy to get it was sort of defeated the purpose I think they were going for.

The damage scaling as a zero now is really taking a bit of fun out of the game...not that I should be able to 1 shot kill things, but at level 44 needing 4-6 crit hits on a bot is crazy. The super badasses, I can barely scratch without nearly emptying my inventory - rockets, nades etc. 6k dmg sniper rifle.
