The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

speaking of DLC, maybe this is common knowledge but I've been wondering what the DLCs will be and hoping claptraps return.

I just started PT2 today and while entering claptraps house noticed claptraps frozen in the ice. I started to think... maybe they will come back to life or something with a thaw?

Then just before existing claptrap's house I noticed this on the work bench. Check out the screenshot.

Notice the claptrap on the table and the words that say "He can be Rebuilt". Also notice the pirate on the top left and we all know that the first DLC is about pirates. I think they will come back :-D

There are 2 arenas I found:

Fink's Slaughterhouse - Bandits arena
Ore chasm - Robots arena

Bandits one I spent like 3 hours but I passed it.
Robots arena was tough like my balls ;) I needed to quit it 3 times, level up outside and return later to pass it. And reward for it is not that great. It is just a matter of completing all the missions :)

I passed robots arena after farming a big ass huge giant robot in "Get to know Jack" side mission where I got awesome Bee Corrosive Rocket launcher that was raping robots apart. One shot 3-4 robots are dead garan teed. and Consructors usually down with 2 shots.

Three arena. :)

One composed of nothing but bandits.
One composed of nothing but Hyperion bots/soldiers.
One composed of nothing but wild animals (skags, varkid, spiders).

Honestly, while all three were tough, the animal ones were a pain in the ass.

Not sure if anyone has figured this out yet, but I found a way to glitch the cursed/Annoying gun to all my weapon sounds.

Switch between the cursed gun and a normal. Make sure that cursed gun finishes saying "Swapping Weapons!" before you switch to the normal gun. Repeat numerous times.

If it doesn't work, try spraying the ground with the cursed gun and switch to a normal gun and back to the cursed (continue spraying). Repeat.

Don't think I have ever laughed so much from annoying my friends after a few missions :D
Enjoy.

I just want to point out for anyone thats avoiding the Gunzerker it seems to just be a late bloomer. Mine started out being totally worthless because he doesn't start out with a lot of the advantages the other characters have but once I hit around lv15 it seems to hit a growth spurt. Now my Lv 15 Gunzerker easily outmatches the Lv 20 Commando even without Health gen perks. With enhanced health an shield gen the gunzerker will crunch anything in single combat. I'm actually dropping my Commando in favor of the gunzerker as its more fun to play. CR-CR-CR-CRITICAL BITCH

The third one is a preorder bonus for some retailers. I do not have one :)

finished PL1 today... holy hell final boss was easy.. it never even attacked me.. I stood out by one of the ammo box regnerator things and just shot it with whatever I felt like.. Easier than BL1 end boss...ridiculous

where is 3rd arena?

the arenas are actually quite easy when you figure out where you can stand and not have to take on everything at once or at all.

you can farm monster easily, multiple ways. I stopped on the right path to an ammo box. there is a square the lava does not rise above and he does not attack there. The third arena appears to be in the wildlife preserve building, on the right as you go in. did not realize this, since there are no mission markers

I just discovered the "loot mobs." Awesome. I got a couple purple drops from the Midget and Badass Loot Mobs I downed. I'm so stoked on this game. Love it.

is it me or is PL2 way harder. I expected it to be, but I'm dying a lot. I'm not doing any optional missions so I can get 2.5.

BTW I spent over 200K on that dam jackpot achievement in Sanctuary and have not gotten it yet.

I got two Moxxi's Legs today and like 12 eritium only spending like 3k. Left pleased as shit.

You are talking about tipping, not playin jackpot ;)

You will smile when you find a "jack mob". Yes, they carry jackpots so that people can keep it up :D :D :D :D :D

It is, I killed Bloodwing today and... got he is hard. Not that it takes a lot of damage to take him down... but he insta-kills you with most of his attacks (even at the respawn-totem! :D :D :D :D :D :D ).

BTW, I've spent around $500.000 this last days and nothing, nothing at all...

Yeah man, pt2 is a bitch. Even the lowliest of bandits have like 15k health, it's takes like 2-3 clips per guy to take em down. I have some pretty nice gear too, all high level oranges, and they don't do shit. I'm level 38, so I figured it wouldn't be too bad, I figured wrong.

I dropped probably 100k on the slot machines, and only got the eridium jackpot once. Never got the three Marcus heads, or vault symbols, or bells, even once.

I found Bloodwing to be very easy. Fight took about a minute and a half - I tossed out my turrets twice and she was down. I mostly just ran around to make myself a moving target. Dual rocket turrets is dumb sometimes.

Now, a lvl 50 Dukina on the otherhand...she was a bitch. When she takes out your shields and 90% of your hps with one attack and then your shields don't regen...it was such a bullshit fight.

Not sure what you mean I meant just playing the slot machine.

I love running around and aggroing large mobs, then tossing out a turret and going to fix a sammich. Can't wait for dual turrets lol.

Yeah I'd say it's a more difficult game that the 1st, but I don't think it's a bad thing. Sometimes though things can be very challenging.

Guys, how much time do you plan to invest in PT2?
I invested 68 hours in PT1. I see no reason to do PT2 just for better loot. I will do DLCs with my Level 38 character and I'm sure at that level loot will be much better in DLC plus I will have a new story line. I just see no point to go through same story once again.

After I level my character in DLCs up to 50 I can beat terramorphous :)

White or green crap guns in TVHM are more often then not better than anything in PT1.

You'll need guns from TVHM to kill Terramorphus,

your issue will be that you are doing at most level 35 missions and enemies and loot drops. Nothing you can find will do enough damage. In PT2 pretty much all of the PT1 gear sucks, trivial missions are a pain if you get two super badasses whaling on you. But really the only thing that matters is if you have gotten what you wanted out of the game. If so, no need to worry about anything else.

BTW: there is a 10x difference in stats from level 30 to 50. Health, shields and damage

Yeah if only I had known this. Pt2 is so much more difficult. I got into bare health on regular enemies. And 2 or 3 of the larger bullymongs...hope you got one down enough to second chance off.

I only got out of the ice shelf because I picked up a WHITE semi auto sniper that did over 2.5x my best sniper I finished Pt1 with and I was able to take out Flint from a distance.
Then the area in the outside sanctuary zone where there was a bad ass bullymong is now a super bad ass or mega bad ass or whatever...I just ran but he came after me anyway. 3 second winds on him thanks to his little bros running around.

And all the enemies are armored. Armored Psychos, armored bullymongs, armored everyone. Minimong or whatever is name was, the mong part's front was entirely covered by impenetrable armor! The good part is though, the models change. Armored psychos look like robocop lol

One thing I find weird in this game is that it seems like the loot doesn't seem to scale "smoothly" with your character at all times. Like, for instance, at level 18 or so all of the jackpot/vendor/drop loot seemed to level to 18. Okay. But then for like the next 7 levels I was still getting level 18-20 stuff. I had to hit level 25 or so to "refresh" the vendors and jackpots to start putting out gear above level 20 or so.

Would make more sense if everything scaled every time you gain a level. Similarly, there is this weird point one you hit level 8 where a lot of the loot is all of a sudden level 11. I thought it was a fluke until I played another character to level 8 and the same thing happened. So you end up with cool stuff you can't use for another 3 levels. Weird.

People are claiming loot drops are better after some of the more recent patches. Haven't noticed too much myself, though I think before the patch I had gotten one or two natural purples (not a vendor or jackpot) and after the patch I have gotten like 3-4 in the span of an hour or two. Seems like they quietly tweaked drop rates, possibly.

Are you stating that it is not possible to level up my character from 38 to 50 playing DLCs only?

Granted I’m still cruising through my first playthrough (level 32), but I’m finding that certain guns I tend to see lots of upgrades for (assault rifles, pistols, launchers) and a few that seem to never have worthwhile upgrades (SMG’s, shotguns). I’ve had the same shotgun for something like 8 levels. Whenever I get something that seems good, it’ll only hold 1 round or it reloads super slow. The one I have is so-so at best, but I just can’t find anything better.
At the same time, I seem to find a worthwhile assault rifle or pistol around every corner.
My best weapon overall has been a pistol that does over 1000 points of damage per shot, holds 15 rounds, fires as fast as I can pull the trigger, and even boosts melee damage by 200%. Half the time I just charge forward while opening fire and then start swinging when I get close. I’m at level 32 now and I’ve been rocking that little guy since 27 or so. I’ve found some comparable ones (stat-wise), but none that seem to work as well for my playstyle. It’s been great for everything from mobs of enemies to bosses.

i had a pistol similar to that that i used for a while. im really tired of assault rifles that shoot little grenades or mini rockets that bounce. just give me a standard rifle that shoots standard bullets at fully auto

Yeah, I really want to like and use assault rifles with Axton, but the game doesn't make it easy. It's really been hard to find good ARs that aren't the little grenades as you mentioned. Those are okay, but it kinda makes them hard to use sometimes. At level 25 the best non-explosive AR I've found does like 250-ish damage per shot...not amazing. I also found a slag minigun that does about 160 or so damage but it slags, so that is pretty cool. Also the magazine size is way higher (like 45 or so compared to most others than are around 15-20).

I am in agreement. My axton uses Pistols/SMGs, Shotguns and Sniper Rifles. I would have made ARs my primary, but I hate the slow velocity grenade rounds.

Yeah, I have the same shotgun for ages now and the same assault rifle!! Sometimes I find weapons with better stats the old ones I had but for whatever reason they seem to do less damage or be way less accurate so I switch back to the old weapons.

Another thing is the price of guns etc, sometimes you have two of the same items and one is way more expensive than the other even though the stats are pretty similar, sometimes the more expensive gun is worse!! It's probably to do with the level of the item, but in this game I don't see why level should affect price, but stats should.

that's the way this game works, and why it's fun. it's not like diablo, where i feel like i was constantly cycling through new gear as i leveled. instead, every now and again, especially at lower/mid levels, you are able to find a gun with excellent stats that goes from great to good, and then to fair/bad but that you have such an attachment to you use it for longer than you should.

i think it has to do with the way they scale the levels of the modifiers

I have one pistol form the treasure side mission on Caustic Caverns. First I thought that pistolis absolute crap. It was like 3 shots per second and slag ability. But bulltes were slow moving and did nothing to its targets. That was I thought initially. Then I realized how this pistol works.

Those slow bullets were hitting targets, stuck on them and after like 1 second fusing time bullets are exploding and starting to slag enemies like hell. When I realized that this pistol is now my preferred long distance weapon. It rapes robots apart and lower level mods just dissapear almost instantly in a cloud of green slug. You just need to hit robot with 4-5 bullets and wait 1 second till bullets trigger :) Pure fun

I also have bee rocket launcher that shoots green balls that stop , ascend and start shooting around self guided slag missiles. Nothing can survive that rocket launcher. I do not need to aim with it. Just shoot in enemy direction and wait.

I was using the assault rifles with exploding rounds a lot for a while, but lately it seems like they just aren't working as well. The bandits have scaled up so that they don't hurt as much, and even with a pretty high accuracy, they miss more than they should. Sometimes it seems like the rounds just flat-out pass through certain humanoid enemies.

Currently have:
Main: That rapid fire pistol with lots of rounds and good melee
2. A sniper rifle with no scope (it still zooms) but massive damage - got it for killing the giant skag
3. Assault rifle with exploding rounds for non-human enemies and crowds
4. A shotgun for saving my ass when I'm down

I just completed the mission where you get that robot clothes/limbs and the pistol he gives you seems Godlike at first, too. Haven't messed with it much, but it seems to be unbelievably strong.

For those having trouble with gear, here are some good farming spots (SPOILER WARNINGS). Each spot should be good enough to last until the next spot. With anything not needed, simply sell and gamble on the slots. Pay attention to the price of the slot machine. If the price doesn't go up when you level up, you won't be getting higher level gear. You might as well gamble most of your money, or risk wasting it when you die.

This progression works for both playthroughs. Farm only way you need don't go for perfect items. Everything gets replaced quickly until 2.5 farming.

Firehawk area: from the fast travel turn right and from the upper path look for a Goliath, restart is there is none at the top or the bottom. Shoot off his head and weaken enemies so he gets the kill until you upgrade him to God-liath. Then finish him off. If you're having trouble killing him, kite him into the cave with all the spider ants. They'll distract him while you wear him down. The gear here should last for a long time. You could also do this in Tina's zone for higher level stuff, but its harder to pull off. This should be enough until you get past wilhelm and reach outlook.

Overlook. Just outside to the left there is a long bridge that passes over a sand pit. As soon as you hit the bridge from that side, take the walkway down. There is a drop off to a hanging platform that holds a red chest. Open, loot, restart. This should last up to slab king.

Defend slab tower: this is the bread and butter for exp and loot. DO NOT COMPLETE THIS. Set up the Goliath at the bottom beacon. Wear down robots and let him level up. This is really easy to do. Once he's in god mode, finish him off, then let the badasses blow up the crate. Do as many times as needed. This will get you past the bunker.

Eridium blight: The last place to farm before warrior. Fast travel here and take a vehicle. Hang right and follow the road all the way to be bridge that activates the next quest. Look for king Mong. He's equivalent to an ultimate badass bullymong. He's a pushover in a vehicle, but if you also want good exp, get out of ther car when he's low on health and finish him off. This should get you enough gear through the warrior.

Saturn: this is also an option. Once he aggros, run back to the old city and set up camp behind obstacles. You can find spots where he can't touch you. It's possible to farm him, but he has so much health it might not be worth it. There is also a red chest on top of the shack to the right in the area where Saturn spawns.

Final boss: after you kill him, you can simply leave without zoning to be right back at him instead of clearing to him.

Happy dlc hunting!!

I agree somewhat, but I think the progression should be more linear than it is. Right now it seems like there are huge level gaps where you don't find anything better, and you struggle to do enough damage/have enough ammo to take out enemies that are leveled to you.

Honestly, for medium-range combat it seems like pistols end up being the best weapon type. You can get really powerful Jakobs revolvers or rapid-fire TMPs that all seem to be better than any AR. Shotguns have their use up-close (like, REALLY close though, the spread on some of them is insane) and sniper rifles for far away. So far I haven't found any amazing SMGs other than some I use for doling out a lot of DoT quickly for the Corrode damage on robots.

They really just need to buff ARs overall, IMO. They don't really fill a role that isn't already filled by pistols or even SMGs. They are maybe marginally more accurate but in my experience, not enough to justify their use most of the time.

A lot of the items scale according to the main quest level you are currently working on regardless of your character level.

Yeah, I kind of thought that might be the case. Nevertheless, it should go by character level and not quest level. It seems that a lot of people (myself included) like to go through side missions to level up/get good loot to prepare for the next story mission, so it doesn't make sense to have everything else stay at a low level as you're trying to get higher-level equipment for story progression.

Like I said on release day: it seems to be a case of 50 Bazillion Guns just got less remarkable and far more duplicated-ier. Not that the gun drops were the reason I loved the first game. But it definitely didn't hurt.

when i started the game, i loved the jacobs revolvers. pretty accurate, awesome firing animation, good damage. now (level 23 - story mission first wildlife one) i see a few revolvers and a lot of seemingly high damage pistols that i find aren't very effective. i'm a siren with mostly points into cataclysm and sweet release.
