The Elder Scrolls Online

That doesn't sound like a bug, though, it sounds like a design decision. Community feedback may cause them to increase the area of player interaction in a future patch but the functionality is there.

From what my nephew told me, you are supposed to be able to stand anywhere near the thing them to activate the device as he was able to do. He said that he was able to complete it by just standing near it. He was trolling me on the phone about how he could stand at the back, front, sides, etc. For those of us that have the bug, we have to slowly inch our ways around the siege weapons until the server decides that we are near one. It's like on my screen I'm at position A, but the server thinks I'm way over there. I wasn't the only person with the issue in the training quest. And when I made it out into the live fight, I didn't have issues at all.

It's irrelevant anyways as I already crossed that mountain.

I get that with my bow sometime when I switch weapons too quickly. It's kinda funny.

Cagey you are taking this shit way too personal man. I just let you know my buddies from north Carolina play just fine. Next time you're having trouble run a tracert or ping plotter to the servers and see where the issue lies.

In WoT for example I can't play on the east server due to telia networks which hosts the servers. I have 19 ping to the west coast and over 600 to the east and I'm in denver. So yes there is a possibility that ESO has very real latency problems for you. However the difference is that WoT has a 100 page thread dedicated to it whereas ESO didn't have 1. I was just pointing out a widespread outage probably would have been noticed. I didn't mean to offend.

It's cool dude. I wasn't angry. I'm just a very sarcastic person. :)

Aww I dig [H] love.

I wonder how long it'll be before there are any discounts to this game's initial purchase price. It seems like it's popular enough perhaps to warrant the sub, but since I still have to beat Dark Souls i can wait. I really want to try this game though

Fair enough, thanks for expanding on the situation.

Take time to read and listen to the quests. Makes it a lot less dull. ;)

TSW I was happy enough to, eso I don't enjoy most of that on.

Game is much more addicting than I'd expected in a live environment compared to knowing it was all going poof soon like on ppsijic testing. Looking forward to craglorn, for now I'm pvping like crazy at vr10 with full covenant gear (light), warlock, and wrath of the imperium with ice staff and rings enchanted for spell damage on my dragon knight. Alternating between what weapons for my off set some still.

How viable is a pure Templar healer at higher levels in PvP? My little Templar keeps getting one shot in PvP. Let me quantify that statement. I get stunned, then hit with a random finisher and then I'm pushing up daisies. In theory that's a 2 shot, but since I never got control of my character from laying on my ass and dying, I consider it to be a one shot. Ha ha ha!

Just wondering if I should switch to NightBlade or Sorcerer before I get too far into the game on the Templar. Also does the Ebonheart faction just suck at PvP? I was the yellow team at first and then my buddies wanted to be damn lizards when they bought the game a few days later. So I have 2 low level Templars. :)

Last question. Why am I able to talk to my Domini (or whatever the yellow team is called) guild when I'm on my Ebonheart. Seems kinda weird to read their chat when I'm trying to kill them in RvR. Well running from them to avoid getting 2 shotted, but I try not to think of it that way. :D

So whats this I hear/read about the ESO team:

-Knowing about a duping bug since beta and not fixing it
-Having a bug where people that report get banned instead of the person reported
-People banned cannot cancel their subs
-Tech support advising people to cancel when they can't fix their issue (usually quest related like what several of you have mentioned)

?

There was a dupe bug but its effext on the economy isn't wide spread due to the fact that auction houses are unique to each guild. The rest of uour points other than the last point I have only heard of sparse rumors. The getting banned for reporting sounds extremely far fetched.

I'm guessing your just trolling or dont play online games much, but regardless, Welcome to the world of MMO's where everything is either blown out of proportion or over exaggerated. This happens to every single multiplayer game released. Not sure why your acting surprised.

Auction houses a aren't per realm?

Heard about it on random forums, one google search found:

Something is wrong with how ZemiMax is handling their customer support if they can go so far as to delete a post detailing the bug off of their own forums and their support team is still not aware of it.

Most MMO companies typically treat dupe bugs as extremely important things, worthy of rollback no-less.

edit: Yet another google, just cuz i got interested, there's TWO MORE dupe bugs in existence

No. There aren't realms. There is 1 server. Each guild has its own auction house.

The dupe was fixed. The hireling dupe bug that was found will be patched. As typical with stuff on the net it has been blown/trolled out of proportion. I've reported near 100 bots, probably duplicates and haven't been banned. Neither has anyone in my guild. I need to get in touch with these people that fall for this stuff. I could make a killing.

Bans are happening for dupers and interestingly enough, those that received duped items.

Right, not disputing that the bugs exist. Disputing the fact you seemed so shocked they're happening. Every single game, from your beloved PoE to every single other online game has duplication bugs, exploits, or holes in the code. Somethings take time to find and fix others are more obvious and easier to fix.

That whole part about it being known since beta, including a forum post detailing it being deleted, yet that info not getting to the devs until months later is the red flag; not the existence of it.

Auction Houses being guild only is just silly too, btw.

A red flag for what, exactly?

A company that isn't prepared to run an mmo successfully.

I really want the DAoC PvP / RvR experience, but have no interest in everything in between from this game. Too expensive to justify, imo.

It is as simple as a person not doing their jobs on the forums to report the bug. It was resolved fast once they discovered it just like the latest dupe bug. It is no different in their company than any other when someone screws up. Whoever is in charge should be looking over their shoulder.

Actually I felt the same way at first about the auction houses until I started using them. Since you can be a member of multiple guilds you have access to multiple markets and these markets can and do have different price structures. It makes the market less susceptible to gold sellers and also creates a secondary market.

Bingo. Kinda sad how quick people are to knock something before trying it. It is actually a damn good system and I'm enjoying it. I joined a trading guild just so this and it is a great way to peddle your wares without worrying about price gougers or asshats who try and get you to COD items to you then not accept it so your wares are stuck in limbo until they expire. Don't fall for that btw...had a couple try that and I got warned ahead of time from a few that got suckered by them.

I guess, if you don't take into account every MMO has these issues at launch. SW:ToR had the duping and banning issues as well, and they're still going strong. They're FtP now, but most MMO's are destined for that pay model anyways (including this one, imo)

So do they have low population or some new fancyness that allows so many people to be on the same server?

So you can join as many guilds as you want? And this trading guild has only been created to facilitate an Auction house market? Interesting concept.

They use instancing, they just call it phasing. It actually works pretty well and allows some interest effects on the world. For instance, if you clear an area, and complete the quest line, that area may change to a mob free village or area that the NPCs may move back into.

You can join a max of 5 guilds.

They have two servers. 1 NA, 1 EU. They are not having low population issues. Now they do have a group of servers for PvP but I feel that is more for game play than technical reasons.

That's pretty cool. Have any other MMO's had evolving worlds like this?

WAR had sections that would change depending on what open-world objectives got completed, but not to that extent afaik.

Yes and no. Like mentioned WAR had this to a certain extent, but the way ESO is doing it it is pretty unique. You're quest choices can have various ramifications and some can make it more difficult to get around or easier depending on which route you go. You can choose to save a girls life who was bitten by a vampire or kill her. Later on as she grows more powerful she'll come and save you and plays an important role in the quest later on. However, if you choose to kill her the sister will bring the militia to help out and it can be somewhat harder depending upon your build which route you choose.

Some cities will be deserted or be rebuilt depending on choices made, several "game" altering quests are in where you can choose to kill off major characters if you choose. Personally I think ESO is a role players wet dream as far as MMOs go.

The current trading guild I'm in has reached the 2500 member cap. It has a fairly large store, still some asshats in it that try to corner the markets but some good leadership keeps that shit to a minimum. Other guilds have their own trade stores and in Sturmgrenadier our store has some pretty decent items but nothing major. This way having access to a variety of stores allows for various pricing methods and various items to be more readily found and used. I personally think it is a damn spiffy way to go as far as auction houses.Just makes it more difficult to play solo as you need to be in a guild with at least 50 people in it before you can get access to it.

I'm going to need an invite to this guild...

Angry Joe's take on the game...sounds like a pile of shit TBH.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov3B26h12C4

Paging ESO Defense Force....... Paging ESO Defense Force ......

ESO Defense Force.......Online. "I don't know what you were expecting, every MMO has these problems. Angry Joe is just an idiot that hates fun. Did he even play it? I doubt he even played it. He must not have played it, he just hates it. And haters gonna hate, every MMO gonna be every MMO. Potato."

I think I'm done with the game already. It was fun for a while, but I agree with just about everything Angry Joe said in his review. The last straw was having to log out and back in about 10 times the other night to have quest objects appear. Oh well, I got my money's worth out of the game, imo.

LOL...did you even watch the video?

You missed a couple damnit. You suck at impersonating me!:D

Touche'!

On the bright side, if a video review gets hundreds of thousands of views and it puts a fire under the developer's ass to fix the biggest problems, everyone wins. Many people critical of the game don't want it to fail, but to get better.

Case in point there have been problems with Battlefield 4 that people screamed about on forums and massive Reddit threads for >6 months<. Then a known youtuber finally does a video demonstrating the problem, it gets tons of views, and within 48hrs the problem is suddenly fixed. SMFH.
