Star Wars Outlaws

Pre-order only mission, not surprising given its Ubisoft and Massive. They did that stuff with Division2 if I remember right. That and early access to the dlc content when they released it later in the year.

I want more DEI. I'm tired of the hero always being a generic human female. (99% kidding, just be good and I don't care).

I keep telling you Massive is not Ubisoft...Ubisoft is the parent company but they are still their own studio...

Star Wars Outlaws Won’t Feature Ubisoft’s Open World Style

Game Director Julian Gerighty spoke at length with GamesIndustry, addressing common concerns such as fatigue for traditional Ubisoft open world games like Far Cry and Assassin's Creed...according to Gerighty, Massive's DNA has always been different to begin with:

"We are hyper conscious of the Ubisoft house style. Massive has always been different. The Division and The Division 2 were different. Originally, Massive was an independent studio, then an Activision studio, so it has always thought very differently. The DNA of Massive is quite unique from Ubisoft. But there are so many great lessons to be learned by the Ubisoft way of making games"

I liked both Division games quite a bit except for the sometimes over the top bullet sponging. ;)

I played the first Division game and the bullet sponge enemies were ridiculous...they obviously wanted people to play co-op and designed the game around that

Ubisoft has owned them since 2008. Saying they are not part of Ubisoft is like saying Bioware is not part of EA, who bought Bioware in 2007.

From the article:

Star Wars Outlaws is an open world game and players will be able to explore and play it at their own pace.

It is an open world game, typical Ubisoft style. They made last years Avatar, also an open world game that seemingly had the same generic open world formula. The part in bold tells you all you need to know. Technically it is a few smaller open worlds that you fast travel between, but otherwise it will be the same bland open world formula. Possibly it will have branching story lines loosely connected with no proper flow and inconsistent delivery. That seems to be Ubisoft's current style:

Watch Dogs Leigion
Far Cry 5
Far Cry 6
Ghost Recon Wildlands

Maybe this will go back a single story, but otherwise be the same open world Ubisoft gameplay. The question is if the gameplay will be good, not too repetitive, and not extremely bland.

I never said they weren't a part of Ubisoft...I literally said in my post that Ubisoft is the parent company...you can be under the umbrella of a larger developer but still basically be the same studio that you were prior...the only thing that changed was that Massive now has more financial resources

Ubisoft is the developer for some games while they have other branches like Massive develop other games like Avatar and the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws...Ubisoft didn't take over and fire everyone at Massive and replace them with Ubisoft employees...a lot of the same guys that worked on The Division etc are still there

The Division is an Ubisoft property. The last Massive game was World in Conflict Soviet Assault. They were an RTS developer. When bought out they got place on "making Ubisoft games duty". They started with Just Dance, and then did The Division games. Both of which are Ubisoft franchises. If a game has guns in it, Ubisoft slaps the Tom Clancy name they bought decades ago on it.

They are lucky they got to make Ubisoft games with externally licensed IPs.

World in Conflict was a great game. I remember it fondly.

Asked if it plans to delay Star Wars Outlaws over negative YouTube comments, Ubisoft says no: 'I think people will love it'

After a not-great response to a recent 10-minute IGN First gameplay preview of the upcoming Star Wars: Outlaws, Ubisoft says the August 30 release date is locked in, and the game will not be delayed...

If Ubisoft won't delay over games not being finished, negative comments won't make a damn bit of difference.

They just mentioned it looks bland (so, like all Ubisoft games) and frame rate issues. Performance can likely be fixed, and I assume it was running on a console version so that is expected.

Yea that'll be the first time a AAA release was poorly optimized on launch. Just feel lucky if they actually fix it. LOL

How can you expect them to care about players, when they have shareholders to please?

CD Projekt RED's parent company CD Projekt is a publicly traded company and they have done a fine job updating Cyberpunk 2077 since release. From Software is owned by one of the largest publicly traded media conglomerates in SEA.

Being publicly traded certainly doesn't help matters, they pledged allegiance to DEI too.

Edit: Not to mention they put out the game unfinished exactly because of investor pressure. They supported it for 3 years which is why they are still a better company than ubisoft.

Good. I'm ready to play it. It is what it is going to be at this point.

World in Conflict was a great game. I remember it fondly.
Still have my collectors edition with a piece of the Berlin Wall. One of my favorite strategy games of all time.

Massive also did Ground Control which were was a pretty cool/innovative RTS tactics game.

Anyways, I'm actually not concerned about launch performance issues with Outlaws if it's the same engine used as Avatar. Avatar day 1 was actually a really solid game and ran amazing.

hi guys. Will be this game on Xbox SX? Currently sitting on console , today installed console.

Doing ye ol' search engine for "star wars outlaws platforms" should get your required information.

I have a feeling either Black Myth: Wukong or Star Wars Outlaws is going to be bundled with Nvidia and AMD GPU's (or maybe with the new Zen 5 CPU's)...so it should be available for cheap at launch...otherwise Ubisoft+ ($17.99 a month) sounds like the best way to play until the game goes on a good sale

Rumor going around about a bad IGN video people complaining about the graphics but IGN said the Stream was just bad but trolls out in full force. It's the above video I posted a few days back. I didn't watch the video because of spoilers.

I really don’t care about the graphics if it plays good. The graphics look good enough / serviceable.

I've seen the video and the graphics were anything but impressive. Graphics weren't shit but they didn't look to be any better than games from several years ago. It has been a while since I played it but graphically it didn't seem much different from Jedi: Fallen Order which isn't a compliment after this many years.

I doubt graphics are what people are mostly complaining about. What was shown was ten minutes of a stupid fetch quest with a "payoff" at the end of the quest which basically insults the person playing. It was mostly boring with inane in-game comments by the protagonist. The combat was anything but inspired with some major glaring issues like blowing up things which didn't even harm the protagonist but killed multiple NPCs despite the protagonist being as close or closer to the source of the explosion. Unarmored enemies looked to be very bullet spongy. At a previous point in the quest the item the protagonist retrieved was stolen by someone throwing a thermal detonator at the protagonist and the only effect was having the protagonist fly through the air from the explosion.

Not only was the gameplay/quest shown rather boring, the end of the quest insulted the person through a joke. The combat wasn't particularly interesting or engaging and had some serious issues. The player character made annoying and inane comments about what she was doing and at one point while scouting made sure to speak to herself loud enough to announce her presence to everyone within a mile. To break up the boredom of the quest you receive communications from your ship droid with him stating to hurry up because Jawas were taking him apart because they hadn't been paid yet (the quest is getting payment.)

The released gameplay was definitely not a good way to sell the game.
