Star Wars Outlaws

EA and BioWare shouldn't get specific praise simply because they shipped a finished and polished product. This is the minimum gamers should expect from AAA studios.

This is absolutely not true. Combat in a game can be quite varied and interesting if done right. Games that give you options allow the player to have a lot more agency over how they take on enemies leading to much less repetitive combat. The last two Ghost Recon games are good examples of this. You can do stealth takedowns, melee, shoot enemies, or gun them down with an attack helicopter. Go stealth or drive in with a dune buggy and come out blasting. Your choice.

I don't think that would have made that much of a difference in this case. This game is failing for a number of reasons beyond it simply being a buggy and unpolished release. It's absurd price, hideous character design, predatory microtransactions, season pass model, Ubisoft's reputation, and just generally uninspired gameplay that comes across as a knock off of older Ubisoft titles that did everything better than Outlaws does.

Accurate points. Unfortunately now you have made me want to friggin' reinstall Breakpoint. Again. ;)

I need another one of these or something like it.

I'm waiting for a sale price and some lore friendly mods. I might take a shot at it when all that comes together. Gaming plate is fairly full at present.

Yes, the DEI stuff is there. If I can work around it then that would be ideal. Not crossing that bridge at present.
I hope you play the game, and then you’ll see firsthand how the DEI stuff has virtually no impact on the game. :)

Umm excuse me if you look at the daily peak, you can see it's going up every day.
At this rate Outlaws will pass 100k daily players in about 3 months.
That's not the pattern you see with these analytics. Sorry, but no. Typically, a game's all time highest peak concurrent player count is usually established on the weekend after the game launches. The 24-hour peak for Outlaws didn't crack 2,500 players and it probably never will. The only way the concrrent player count record is likely to go up is if Ubisoft releases an expansion to the game that's on the level of Ghost Recon Breakpoint's Motherland expansion or CDPR's CP2077 Phantom Liberty. It would have to be an expansion that provides a significant amount of new content and transforms the overall experience into something that exceeds player's expectations. It would need to achieve critical acclaim from players and reviewers alike to have a "No Man's Sky" type of turnaround.

That's certainly possible, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I personally don’t care how many people are playing a game on Steam. My enjoyment of a title doesn’t depend on other people enjoying it. I’m assuming that 99.99 percent of all gamers feel this way. So what’s with the current obsession over the Steam player count?

It seems largely like it’s a political thing? Yay… Hogwart’s Legacy is selling well! Take that, all you DEI asshats.

Yay! Veilguard The Failguard is tanking in numbers. Take that, all you DEI asshats.

Kind of a weird way to celebrate such a terrific hobby?

Also, why do some people seem to be focusing specifically on Ubisoft or EA or Bethesda’s numbers? In this case, it seems to be a ‘hate thing’? As in, we hate these companies… so hopefully they’ll go out of business even though it appears that literally millions of other people are enjoying their games.

Interesting.

Pretty sure he was being sarcastic.:LOL:

Don't like the forced motion blur. Seems like there is always some enabled for certain actions.

With the settings turned up it looks nice in terms of light, shadows, and whatnot. You can turn up draw distance quite a bit as well though that really dropped frame rates. Last patch made some large improvements on my setup. Frame rates are much higher, it is much smoother. Will turn turning up the settings to the max (minus draw distance) and see how it runs. Quite a large change, even compared to the previous patches. They've done good work optimizing but it should have been more like this day 1. At medium-high settings the graphics take a big dip in visual fidelity.

Most of the above screen shots are a mix of medium-high.

Characters still don't look that good, and facial animations and faces don't look good.

I'll play around some more and try and turn up all the ray tracing settings and see how it performs and if it can stay within 12GB. Shame the release was so poorly optimized. Not unlike Starfield where massive frame rate gains were made in post launch patches.

And just because a game’s combat is ‘repetitive’, it doesn’t mean the gameplay is terrible.

Many people were critical of The Witcher 3’s combat, saying they were surprised at how boring and repetitive it was. But we’re talking about one of the greatest RPGs of all time here.

Also, you’re doing what you always do: stating an opinion as though it’s a fact. It’s highly subjective to say that any game’s combat is ‘boring and repetitive’. I personally don’t find Veilguard’s combat boring and repetitive. Far from it, for me it’s terrific. For me it’s exactly as you stated above: varied and interesting. It’s not for you to tell me that I’m wrong. It’s subjective.

Linking me to cherry-picked reviews in which some reviewer claims that the combat is boring and repetitive doesn’t mean that the combat is boring and repetitive… it just means that one person thinks that.

Just because someone has a YouTube channel doesn’t mean their opinion is the final say.
And you're no better than a broken record. You say the same damn things in every thread...

You just can't let your damn agenda go...
