Skyrim Modding Megathread

NUDE MOD NOT WORKING!!!!

Anyway, yeah, using the DL manager, the nude female mod is not working. Can't figure it out. Is there a console command or something that I need to do in game? I install and enable it in the manager. Other mods work fine. Just not this one.

Help me see the naughty bits please! So lonely.

Oh yeah, there is a nude MALE mod too btw. It comes in hairy too! yay...

Most are just replacers, not plugins, which mean all you'd need to do is ensure the textures/meshes are in the correct folder within your data folder. The file path for the female texture is, IIRC, skyrim\data\textures\actors\character\female. Probably the same for meshes, just substitute "meshes" where you see "textures."

Skyrim automatically uses whatever meshes/textures are in these paths over those in the archives, so you have to make sure you placed the meshes and textures in the exact location, otherwise it wont use them in your game.

Is there a mod to make the healing spell more like the one in Oblivion without making it overpowered? Not a fan of the channeling.

There's a ton to read in this thread. Can anyone tell me what the best mods are currently? I'm mainly interested in replacing the horrid console UI and inventory system.

Short answer: UI is not totally un-consolized yet. There's a mod for container categorization and some font / control scheme mods. Nothing extensive yet.

How much would it have cost Bethesda to pay one of those famous UI modders (from Oblivion I assume) to come and re-design their inventory/menus for Skyrim? With the dev kit and proper funding it could have been done in 1 month or less, in time for the 11/11/11 release, and they would have probably made the money back in extra sales.

Instead, we're stuck waiting some extra months now for a freelance guy to do it in his spare time when it should have been done during development.
Now I'm trying to decide if I want to postpone my next playthrough for 2+ months until I can get some proper mods.

I decided immediately that I wasn't going to suffer that UI. I regret preordering, or buying the game at all honestly. I should have waited until a real UI was released.

I haven't tried those chest categorization mods yet, but ideally I'd like to see it where it only gives you organized chests in your house(s). Is that possible?

I guess it's not a huge deal if not, but that would be ideal IMO.

fuck that nexus site sucks ass, cant download anything, a white box comes up and nothing, in firefox and ie

good work

...and of course it's the sites fault and everyone else who has no problems downloading from that site is either a moron or a fanboy, right?

I'm fairness the site does fuck up a lot, but I believe it's due to the high volume of downloading and the server just can't quite take it. Not really anyone's fault since it's a user supported site with limited bandwidth.

Cant wait for SkyUI

Hadn't heard about that, looks good. I ended up uninstalling the QD inventory mod because it just wasn't very well designed and I couldn't get along with it any better than the default.

Are you kidding? Try actually playing the game... It's damn good!

Really? You've updated your game to at least 1.1, correct? Works flawless for a lot of people, and there is no way I could go back to the default inventory UI.

It is good. And I want to enjoy it fully instead of thinking "This is awesome, except for this damn UI" the whole time. Worth it to me to wait for a SkyUI instead of playing it with the console UI.

Pick a different Mirror.

You don't get the option  It very quickly shows the mirrors and then goes the white box and results in a page load error. Skyrimnexus needs some serious help.

I've found that if you refresh over and over again eventually you get a connection. Annoying, but it works.

I've installed,

- Shader Mod (this one is must have)
- Weapons re-texture project
- Map mod (a nice addition)

Keep them coming. This is where the PC version really begins to leave the consoles behind. :D

I apologize for the slowness is updating the OP, this is finals week for me so I'm quite busy. If somebody with a little more free time wants to help compile all the mods so far into an organized post, I'll copy it directly into the OP. Thanks guys.

Happens to me too and it's annoying. I can see the 'select mirror' overlay pop up for a fraction of a second, then nothing but the blank overlay. Clicking on either of the two 'close window' checkboxes closes both overlays.

I don't get a page load error though. Vanilla IE9.

As much as I like those map mods, I think it would be an in game spoiler.
I havent found it to be spoil-ey. In fact, it lets me see the lie of the land a lot better, and notice all the varied terrain and appreciate it more.

Hmmm, the note on Skyrim Nexus about the CK release seems a bit harsh.

They've also explained, perhaps to justify the delay on releasing the CK, their work with Valve to integrate Steam Workshop into the Creation Kit:

They fail to mention another couple of reasons that were posted in the paragraph before:

we will roll out a new Wiki and videos to help you get started

I'd rather see them create a wiki/vids after releasing the game, as they seem to be doing. I have a feeling that 11/11/11 put some serious crunch time into the development effort. I'd rather have the game NOW and the CK later.

Steam integration is going to kick ass. Think it will obviate the need for Nexus?

The official word is that we can still use our mod sites (e.g. Nexus):

Prefer to use existing modding sites? Not a problem. You’ll still be able to upload/share/access Skyrim mods on fan-created mod sites.

Whether or not it will make it more difficult (than past TES games) to share our files is still up in the air.

I really hope they do the right thing with the integration, it could prove to save time on modding.

But that will only happen if they don't try to make a profit off it... but who does that anymore?

It may work flawlessly but it's no better than the stock UI atm.

Yeh but beth does make good DLC, i would actually call it expansion pack certainly in the sense of shivering isles, now thats how you make an addon!

the nexus sites are some of the best-designed database sites I've ever come across. But I have also come across this "connection timed out" issue and don't know why.

Seeing this reminds me, though - I think it happens when there is high demand on a particular mod. I kept trying to download the No Helmets mod for ages until giving up. Tried at another time and it worked.
