This LAN is going to be EPIC!
550 Gamers in one room is pure awesomeness.

If they're true gamers... that's 550 people who are pissing into jug/bucket so they don't need to disturb their session. Could get messy, don't bring your nice shoes. :p

Forgot to mention PDXLAN is the most enthusiast and watercooled LAN in North America.

PDXLAN attendees have made more CPU magazine front covers than any other LAN as well.

It is quite the event. If you ever have the chance of attending you should do it. Next one is in July and out of 550 tickets about 250 have sold already and they just went on sale yesterday.....

If this is what PDXLAN is bringing, I'll be a bit sad.

http://www.techpowerup.com/160646/NVIDIA-Prepares-GeForce-GTX-560-SE-to-Thwart-Radeon-HD-7770.html

So basicly this will be the same performance as the 7770 but with higher use of power, more heat and less room for oc'ing? -_-

In a few years we'll have cards priced per $ 10 :D.

Your budget is $ 160? Hmm, I'd take the GTX 755 TI hardcore mainstream edition or the GTX 755 TI Hardcore uppermiddlesegment mainstream pro if you can save up 10 extra dollars.

Yeah I don't know what is going on. The nvidia rumor mill seems to be spinning full tilt. I had a load of retailers emails earlier, all trying to get rid of their 560 stock. Then when I search for any recent news on Kepler, it seems they're thinking of releasing a Slow Edition 560.

If they do bother to release that crap. I'm taking it as they're having trouble with Kepler and its pushed back at least 3 months.

The latest rumor is that GK104 (GTX 670 Ti) would be released in March (after Cebit, before April). To be slightly better gtx 580 and HD 7950.

latest rumor from where?

Probably this site
http://www.sweclockers.com/nyhet/15083-nvidia-lanserar-geforce-gtx-670-ti-i-mars

Google translation:
AMD managed to just barely get the first graphics card in the generation of 28 nanometers before the end of the year and has had time to follow up with more models in lower price ranges. Despite this, there is silence from rival Nvidia.

In March, it may start to happen. Sources at Taiwanese manufacturers provide to Sweclockers that Nvidia is launching the new graphics processor GK104 sometime "after Cebit, but before April" - that in the period March 11 to 31. This circuit will be used for the graphics card GeForce GTX 670 Ti, which is the spiritual successor to the GeForce GTX 560 Ti.

The same sources state that Geforce GTX 670 Ti will perform "better than Geforce GTX 580 and Radeon HD 7950." However, it is coming GK100 is the real presents tooth circuit and also the model that will face the challenges of peak performance.

While rumors circulating online that talks about GK104 contains the entire 1536 CUDA cores, 128 texture units and 32 ROP: p There should be 2 GB of GDDR5 memory on 256-bit memory bus and clock frequencies are said to amount to 950 MHz GPU and 5.0 GHz memory.

It'll be released in Septembriluary on the first Thuesnesday of the month ...

If they ran somewhat on the same guide lines.

7950<670 Ti<7970

So then:

$450 - 7950
$500 - 670 Ti
$550 - 7970

The die size is thought to be similar to the GF114
- so, I think the price will be <$400, possibly $350....
- I would say $299, but I don't think they'll go that low initially... if it's equivalent to the HD7950...

Yes, but that's assuming that everyone just accepts AMD's new pricing structure. Nvidia may choose to price it at the more traditional price point to try to steal some sales from the 7950 (or force AMD to lower prices).

I haven't heard if there will be two variants of the GK110 or not - if so I wonder what they will be called since it seems they may be using up the 670 name. 680 and 690, with 690 being a single chip card?

With what supply? There's going to be no pricing war until 28nm ramps up production.

What are you talking about "what supply" ? It hasn't launched yet.
Graphics cards need GPUs to function, and 28nm chips are in short supply right now.

And what happened, Anandtech finally shut down your shilling so you've come to pollute another forum?

That's his point. You can't really force your competitor to lower their price on their cards if you can't keep up with the demand for your product at the lower price as if they sold this 670 TI at $299 like one guy rediculously suggested, as soon as the 10k units sold out, people would have no choice but to go back to buying the 7950 and 7970 regardless if their price was higher.

With 28nm supply being rather low, you wouldn't really be hurting your competitors. You more just be giving away your product for free.

I think your dreaming even at $350 and insane at $299.99. Even < $400 is a bit of wishful thinking only because its rumored to be FASTER than the GTX580 yet the GTX580 still sells for 449.99 after rebate on some popular websites. There's no way they would cannabilize GTX580 sales via pricing the 670 TI that low. At least not until GTX580s are no longer available. nVidia is probably thinking along the lines of 'Thank God! It seems this generation ATI has stopped trying to dramatically undercut us and we can return to the glory days! of the 90s with $700-$800 flagship cards'

The two of you need to stop addressing each other before you both end up on my ban list.

Should give us some indication of how their flagship card will perform, since the major difference between those GPUs are the number of "shaders" or whatever they call it these days.

Dear Nvidia, keep your mid-range Kepler card and release the high-end one first. :)

They get referred to as CUDA cores, and I agree, we will see any new designs and extra performance per core, plus if they were able to get the power down as well.

They might if they have stopped producing GTX 580s. At that point they really don't care about the pricing for it any longer, and can safely undercut it all day long. Consider that the GTX 570 replaced the GTX 480 on the performance side, but undercut it on pricing. Of course, there were higher-end cards available then so it isn't directly comparable, but historically the new part isn't automatically priced higher than the old one (GTX 460 replaced GTX 285 but significantly cheaper, for instance).

I think yield will matter a lot, if they can produce in quantity then $399 seems reasonable. However, I think the GTX 670 Ti naming scheme hints at higher pricing - the GTX 660 Ti sounds like a $399 part, but the 670 name makes it seem higher-end than it is.

I know it completely depends on what hardware site people like to get their data from, but my general knowledge is that overall, the gtx570 is equal to the hd6970. Techpowerup probably has the easiest-to-compare data, and the latest benchmarks from that site show the two cards to be equal overall. Perhaps Nvidia is adding the TI moniker to the gtx X70 brand because it will be faster than where the gtx X70 has normall been positioned against their competition's GPU's.... I don't know for sure, I'm just speculating.

This, gtx570 is basically equal to the 6970. I'm thinking the Ti moniker may indicate higher than normal "x70" performance from nVidia.

The 580 has been "EOL'ed" for awhile now (end of life, aka not produced). Historically indeed the pricing isn't higher than previous-gen parts of the same performance, but in the case of the Radeon 7970 it sure is, more than you'd think. I could see a GTX 670 Ti being priced at $359-379, due to the Ti part, as a rough max. The 570 was 320-350 at launch-time.

if the presumption is that for performance 7970 > 670ti > 7950, then anyone dreaming of a $300 or even $350 670ti is absolutely dreaming. Let's say nvidia wanted to have really competitive or whatever. The best that could be hoped for realistically is a $400 price tag. That would put it $50 under the 7950 that it could conceivably outperform. The notion that nvidia would would put out a product superior to the 7950, which is selling well at the >$450 range, for only $300 is ludicrous. This ain't a charity operation. If the card releases at $300 it will be because performance places the product at that price point.

or higher than x70 price. ;)

Yeah, I already said that when I said what price I think a GTX 670 Ti might come at compared to the GTX 570. I'm confused at your post?

I had this an inch below in the next paragraph of what you quoted:

There is a risk in comparing the pricing to current gen products though. It is not unusual for the replacement part in the same performance range to undercut pricing of the old part (think GTX 460 vs GTX 285, and GTX 570 vs GTX 480). The situation is different this time around because AMD set a new higher price point for their product, instead of doing what had been done for the past few generations. It remains to be seen if Nvidia will follow suit in a repeat of the 90s, or if they will follow more recent trends and set a lower price. Personally, I think they are using the GTX 670 moniker (if they really are) to price it higher.

I can see a $299 price tag for a new revolutionary 28nm GTX670ti card with 2GB of memory. I don't see why it is so hard to believe. Cards get better and you get more for your money. That is the order of progress. For those that want to spend more money for less buy a more expensive less performing card. Nobody has to force you to pay less money for a great card. HD7970 is there for those that really want to blow money.

I do too. In a year or two after it's released :D You forget - nVidia is not out there to produce revolutionary products, they are out there for a single purpose - to make money. There's no profit in investing millions of dollars in researching, developing and building 670ti or gk104 or whatever and then sell it for pennies. Thus, you can see whatever you want, but the hard reality of market economy dictates that nVidia produce and sell products at the maximum profit to themselves, not consumers.

If it's sub $400 I'll be happy.

A card faster than the 580 can be $450+ if they choose to charge that amount.
There hasn't been any value cards from AMD and we already know Nvidia isn't in the value card business.
