Well, my momma is coming out with a new line of cards that will completely, absolutely and forever kill anything that either AMD or nVidia could possibly ever release in the next 5 yrs......and the highest end card will only cost $100 @launch

She currently has over $1B in secured agreements with online retailers to start selling the cards next week, and if her overflowing mailbox is any indication, she will be selling ALOT more than that just from her garage alone.

lookie here for more info: www.mommasvideocardrevolution.netorgcomxxx

FYI: as House always says: everybody lies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Screw that. I'm waiting to see what your momma has to offer. ;)

Look, I agree 100% with you and I don't waste my time with the newest and best since I know it's generally a waste of money since a few months later its cheaper, but a lot of people want the best now and don't care about the price.

If everyone thought like some of you, AMD and Nvidia would abandon the desktop market and focus on mobile GPUs only.
Less demand equals less focus. These cards being sold out at launch means a lot for future GPUs they have planned.

Let's not criticize the people that are willing to spend money, which states a "need" for PC components.
These are the people who help keep this great hobby of ours going year after year.

The people with three gen old PCs haven't done anything to support PC gaming in years.

Damn it, now I feel guilty.

What, the, fuck? I just said that I, ME PERSONALLY, don't buy the absolute newest right away, but that THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DO AND THAT WE SHOULD RESPECT THEIR PURCHASES. I didn't criticize anyone.

Also you support PC gaming by buying PC games since that makes developers want to make more games for the PC. If you just buy expensive hardware and pirate the games your not helping PC gaming(just an example, not you specifically)

Ok. Cool.

Also, many gamers buy the bulk of their games during the Steam sale. Valve stated that they see almost a 9x sales increase when games are on sale than when they're not. Not saying you, but $5-10 Steam sale purchases doesn't help PC gaming much either. A gamer with close to no hardware upgrades in years and paying $5-10 for games haven't done much to contribute. So the users, not you again, that criticize people for paying full price for hardware and games should realize those are the people keeping PC gaming going.

**disclaimer....this is my view only. Not the views of anyone else. Mistaking my view for public opinion/fact will result in a penalty. Four penalties will result in this official disclaimer messaged to your in box for your disposal. :D

A $5-10 sale to a customer who otherwise wouldn't have bought the game is still a $5-10 sale. :D

I have so many steam games that I'm "trying" to get around to playing but I know I'm not.

$5 wasted? To me, yes. To the developer, its $5 in their wallet that I *gave* them. :D

They sure as hell aren't making many worth $60 now are they?

Not that most people would pay it even if it was. I bought a few games at launch for close to full price this year with no regrets. Some people are going to complain no matter what.

well said. My dad was a huge PC gaming nut in the late 80's/early 90s. On average he probably purchased $100 A month on new games. Of those new games, 90% of them were total garbage. played for a week, then never looked at again.

Maybe im stingy, but i have a really hard time shelling out $50 for anything less then a 9.5 out of 10 game. I bought CoD MW3 on sale for $44 and really regret it. I like CoD MW2 better, only reason i went for MW3 is because no one plays MW2 online anymore, it sucks to play by yourself.

During the steam deals, i bought a few games -- had i payed full price for those titles i would of been pretty disappointed.

I don't mind paying full price for stuff like Witcher 2 or Deus Ex3 but I'm not gonna pay this for stuff like Hard Reset which lasts 5 hours.

im suprised nobody is talking about Kepler's unified memory architecture, it should allow insane sli scaling and maybe without any micro studdering.

Well I have a hunch that Nvidia may be trying to introduce SLI into mainstream,

and I base this on absolutely nothing :D

Unified memory architecture is in regard to the same virtual memory space between GPU and CPU. This has nothing to do with SLI afaik.

Holy fanboyism! No facts just rumors so far...

There's nothing about Fanboyism in he's remark. I mean i'am not a fanboy myself, i used ATi and NVIDIA products in the past, until AMD burned me burn 2 years ago (driver problems o plenty) and i since switched to Nvidia and i absolutely no incentive to return to AMD since my Nvidia setup just works and that's all i'am asking really.. that it WORKS! LOL ;) I'am not a fanboy, but i gave them a try (amd)..

And NVIDIA drivers fried an entire series of GPU's. Does that change your opinion now? Of if you already knew this, why do you still continue to only buy NVIDIA? Because it didn't happen to you personally? How do you think those people feel?

The truth is, neither of these companies would continue to be in business if they put out even a small minority of bad products. To stick one's head in the sand regarding the other 50% of the market is sheer lunacy.

If your going to buy it sight unseen, a new architecture with no idea of performance or power usage then yes you are a fan boy. How else would you explain it oh wise one?

Looks like "fake" Bulldozer benchmarks before release didn't taught people anything :D

And unlike people jumping into 7970 right now he can only benefit - either he gets better nvidia card or he can buy 7970 any time.

Not necessarily. There are things the green team offers and the red one does not. And vice versa. It's a matter of personal preference. But I guess it is easier to call someone fanboy than to actually pause and think if that even makes sense.

just more rumors. tbh it just does not add up. 225 watts for the gtx560 replacement is just not logical. also a gpu that will need 225 watts on 28nm would be really held back by a 256 bit bus since I doubt stock memory speeds will even be much over 5500 or so. the 225 watt claim is probably just because it has two 6 pins but the actual TDP is probably under 200 watts I would guess for this level of card.

You have a valid point, but playing Devil's Advocate here, video card companies pay video game developers to put "TWIMTBP" and stuff on their products, so technically buy funding hardware manufacturers you are indirectly funding developers...something to think about, anyway.

Yeah I know, I'm just saying that if you want to directly support the games, buy the actual games.(PC exclusives being the best choice ;))

Way to go AMD kicking Nvidia ass latel.

Just read the 7950 review. (One of [H]'s best ever, by the way.) One of the favorite themes of the many AMD trolls on the Kepler threads the last week or so has been how hopeless and helpless nVidia will be when 7950 hits and AMD has two cards that outperform the 580, one of them significantly cheaper, with no new nVidia product in sight.

Well, turns out the 7950 is just a close shave better, not generally by enough to raise graphics quality settings, and priced about the same. No reason for a new buyer to choose a 580 over a 7950, but no reason for a 580 owner to upgrade either. Not exactly the last nail in the coffin that was predicted, IMHO. And what then when Kepler drops, if it is anything as good as it might be?

Or what if nV finally cuts price on the 580 to sell off before Kepler arrives? Let the fun begin!

"Up to 2 GB of memory"? Ehhh....I don't think so.

EDIT: Oh, this is the mid-range part. I guess I could see that...hopefully not much less than 2 GB, though.

The 768 CUDA cores would be awesome for the mid range card if it is true. Would be so tempting to buy if at the same launch price as the 560ti. But I know I would want to go for the GTX670 :D guess more waiting lol.

GF110 is EOL already and not produced anymore. So they have sold their parts already. I doubt that they have many of them in inventory. What we wee now is that AIBs sell the last parts of them and thet's it. Price will drop a littlebit after HD7950 becomes more and more available in the channel but i doubt it will drop that much.
