No 5090 - Cool!

Yep, BestBuy, had the Gigabyte Aorus 5090, only one, "Coming Soon" today, which vanished a few minutes later to Sold Out. Even if one is constantly checking around the clock, your time would almost be assured to be wasted. Maybe they should not even list any 5090's until they have a sufficient quantity to sell. That way their customers are not wasting hours, days and even weeks checking over and over again. Plus, would solve unneeded traffic to their site.
There must be some better way but even if they waited a few months the go from 200 in the Wearhouse to 2000, if they don't setup some kind of verified list the resellers and bots will still get 90% of them. But you'll be able to click on the add to cart for 15 minutes vs. 1 minute, still only to see the "Something went wrong." message over and over.

Wow these 5090 prices are pretty intense

$3,000+ for a video card that's only approx. 30% faster than the previous gen 4090 is insane. What a sad state the GPU market is right now. Hopefully in 2026 AMD can come back into the high-end again
I’d love to relive my 9700 Pro days, but I’ve been waiting decades for that high end card.At this point I don’t believe it will ever happen.

Unless AMD can poach the necessary engineering talent or get lucky again and acquire a company that has a product design that can compete with NVIDIA like they did when they bought ArtX, that's not going to happen.

I don't even need 5090 level performance from AMD, just give us 4090 level performance for $999 and I'm good.

I would love AMD to get competitive again.. or Intel even.. Intel is at the RTX4060 level...

"special launch pricing" LOL ... means no lube.

It’s market forces though. Clearly people are willing to pay $3,000 for 30%.

5090s will continue to sellout within minutes for a long time to come.

The people have spoken. They want the card. And based on your posting history… LOL… I suspect that you’re one of those people.

What? I had a 9700 pro and it was epic, but we have had some cards come along and also be epic......the current 9700 pro is the 4090, while the 5090 is the 9800 pro.

233 microcenter 5090's? Wow, I can't imagine that took long to produce. I wonder why nobody can find one? Oh well, they are $7000 on ebay if you really need one lol.
Oh it’s no secret, Nvidia isn’t trying to sell these. They knew they were bad performers for the price. They cut production of 40 series earlier than normal, let the channel dry out for months and then paper launch to create fomo. Which obviously worked so far. 5090 being “sold out” really wasn’t a surprise when it’s confirmed they sent more 5090’s to reviewers than retail stores.

Nvidia did people dirty this time, and people are still scrambling to get these cards.

Ironic tho since even after a day of ownership I’ve seen so many regret threads here and other places, people looking to flip the cards now, especially the 5080 because it is so underwhelming.

It’s been a while Nvidia, but you showed your hand again. AMD has done the same in the past, they seem to take turns.

No 5090s… but guess what… no 4090s either.

There’s just no stock anywhere.

My 2-year-old RTX 4090 FE, which I bought for $2,000 CAD, is now fetching… are you ready for it… $3000 on auction at EBay.

Insanity.

If you have a 4090 just pray it doesn’t conk out on you.

Honestly, I don’t see how you guys are doing this without help. Try Hotstock w/ autobuy. It doesn’t quite autobuy, you do need to manually get through checkout but damn it is really good at giving you a jump on those drops.

I was extremely skeptical of this service, but I would not have gotten a FE card without it for sure.

The thing is, you don’t know what day they’re going to drop and you don’t know what time of day they’re going to drop or how many times throughout the day they’re going to drop. So what are you going to do?

Once you get in line, it does take some luck because there’s always going to be more people in line than cards. If for whatever reason you end up back at the page that says add to car, you hit that button again ASAP.

I was on my PC all morning on launch day scanning BB with Distill.io. Also a great tool for detecting a drop. Then I gave up, went downstairs to make some lunch, and ding, hotstock push alert goes off on my phone, click the alert, takes me to BB app, add to cart, then get in get in line, no dice. Add to cart again, then bam, got through checkout. All done on the phone.

If you really want a card this week (I predict at least one drop this week) you need a plan and I am guessing sitting in front of the PC smashing F5 is not going to work.
Yep. Apps/other tools are the new f5 key :D. Good advice there for people going for them!

"Jenkins, get me a 5090."

Jenkins: Using any means?

"Uh, what are you thinking about?"

My guess is that if it was "really yours", you'd be doing a happy dance right now.

If you love gaming then your 4090 is worth much more than the money you could get for selling it.

If I were to win the lottery and buy a 5090 right now though, I could sell my 4090 at auction and that would pay for the 5090.

Anyone who can buy a 5090 absolutely should. You would be a fool not to.

Even more true if obtaining a "50" series is elusive at best. Right now, many might argue that the 4090, or even "40" series, could be approaching infinite value. For how long? Unknown.

My prediction after the Chinese New Year and production gets rolling again and shipping etc

I would expect March and most likely April for these cards to start stocking up.

I am so not selling my 4090 rn... I am spending my $$ on an LG UltraGear 45'' OLED Gaming Monitor, model 45GS96QB-B.. I saw it in person this weekend while visiting my dad in AZ... and wow. I think I like it better than my 42" C2.. I think... The BB in Scottsdale has it for 1200 bucks... going to see if my local BB will price match it. With less pixel density will feel like I got a 5090 too... kinda.

I have that exact same monitor. Been using it for about 1 year. Was originally $1,700 bucks was on sale at Best Buy last year for $1,200 bucks. I think you could find it far cheaper today

But anyways, purely for gaming. This monitor is a dream come true full immersion like you could never imagine. It's OLED which is a must today and HDR.

Highly recommend.

yeah man when I saw that thing I was like "0hhh shit... here we go" .... yeah it's very immersing.

I would sell the 4090 for top dollar if you people can. Eventually the GPU market will settle.

AMD has been competitive for the past couple generations except on the ray tracing front, but people still didn't buy them. If you read the internet people want AMD to sell their product at a massive loss and that isn't going to happen. If it did, those same people would start crying when AMD exited the video card business due to those massive losses. They're already selling on a slim 15% margin.

As always the 30% is also best case. A few games were the same-ish as a 4090. Only interested in a 5090 because there is some noticeable uplift and I feel I can get with in maybe $500 or so for my 4090.

We've been in a tough spot for a while now. AMD, Nvidia, and even Intel can sell every mid-to-high-end GPU they are willing produce. Prices never really stabilize, resellers grab any decent midrange or better card for list and flip them for a few hundred more. Best Buy and others say to just wait a few months, and I’m fine with that, but when was the last time the RTX 4090 Founders Edition was simply sitting in stock at a regular store at list price? When was the last time you could just choose the GPU that best fit your case and budget?

And that not particular at all... it is the complete GPU market.

4090 on ebay goes for $2200-$2500, it is not like there is cheap 4090 available. New gpu with a new warranty thats 30% faster GPU with 33% more vram for $3000, not a bad deal at all in comparison.

If we look at used 7900xtx pricing:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nk...kw=rtx+4090&_osacat=0&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1

$1,100-$1,300 seem common for a card that had a $1000 MSRP 2 years ago, there an general SIMD like compute shortage going on it seems, that make the PS5 pro price and availability look really good now.

ASUS jacked all prices of their cards on the egg or egg jacked them. Dunno but paying 2500 for a TUF is a TUF pill... :cautious:

Both of them have always had this practice for years on high demand products. If I do decide to do anything with this generation of video cards it will be months down the road when all this ridiculousness is done.

And bought a 4080 super from a guy here. I be done for this gen I think. Wow.
