ok so if i understood well you plan to do a first kickstarter run with the case and the normal top hats and then, if this one is successful, you will go for a second run with the extra parts (side window, tophat with i/o and ood)

am i right?

Almost, a successful Kickstarter will show us that it i possible to challenge this market for real and use different manufacturing technologies then 95% of the market uses today (2 Chinese factories make the majority of the western worlds cases today). If this happens we will do a seed round and bring in some external VC, ramp up the team and further commit to our ambition to challenge the expectations in the market. This would mean that we would start executing the many project we have in the pipeline and start distribution through different channels, not KS again since it is rather expensive and forces everyone to pay Swedish VAT which is not beneficial to anyone but Swedish social security.

In short, the glass side panels will be available for purchase through retailers and there will likely be a Ghost version down the line that comes with them right away.
 
I may missed that, but any words on maximum dimensions for the GPU other than the 305mm length?
Would a EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 iCX fit?

Tell me about it... The engineering in this case is very very appealing to me. After seeing that sexy CNC proto I'm seriously considering this case.
It's a bit painful given how much time has gone into my M1... But this is just so nice.

I suppose the only real draw back is the lack of any meaningful water cooling information. I'd be totally committed if there was some demo of how it's possible to do a custom loop in there effectively. I don't think I can switch to air just yet after all my investment. :whistle:

I'm a big fan of the Dan A4-SFX but I could never own it with the limitations on available coolers, this addresses that with much better cooler clearance and I think the additional tophat idea is just brilliant. The design of the case if fabulous and if build quality is anything like what it should be it will be a really fabulous case. I already switched from watercooling so I think I would be very happy.

We have tested this specific card and there are a couple of issues with it:
  • Plastic fan shield comes in contact with the inner corner of the back gable (see image), this will be adjusted in final version
  • The logo part in the top of the card is right on the limit, the PCI-riser will be lowered another millimeter for other reasons
  • PCI-Power connectors on the card are placed high up and could cause issues if no TopHat is used. With a 90 degree elbow it should work
We can't tell you at this point it will fit, only that we love this card and will make what we can to make it fit like a glove!

We never thought there would be so many people interested in doing custom water cooling in this case, but it seams like the more challenging it is the more fun! Everyone in the team is embarrassingly unfamiliar with custom water cooling. So, we have involved the two best custom water cooling builders we could possibly find in Sweden that will help us with this before the DreamHack event and during. Based on their input we will add mounting holes for custom components to the blade in strategic areas to the mass produced version.
 
I know being a Ncase owner that there is a fair percentage that have custom loops, there are many more with cases like the Dan A4-SFX and Sentry that would do it if they could. With the availability of the top hats for the Ghost you are opening this case up to the possibility of water cooling. I think you will see several examples, plus people can become very inventive when it comes to water cooling.
 
I'm reading lots about the nh-l12 but was wondering if there is any benefit from getting the newer model the nh-l12s over the nh-l12?

The newer model NH-L12s does NOT fit in this case. Right now it seems one of the best coolers to get is the NH-L12 before the revision. You could probably find one on eBay if you wanted. Here are the tests they did with other CPU coolers. Looks like the next best option is a Shuriken with a Noctua fan. http://louqe.com/img/img/ext/ext/GhostS1CPUheatSinkTest.pdf

Edit: I found a few new on eBay for about $50. Just make sure you're getting the old revision and not the "s"

This is as close as I could find to the RAM restrictions. I don't know where the bottom point of the heatsink in the picture sits in relation to the height of the RAM off the board, but it should give you some kind of clue. I'm actually planning on using no tophats at all for a more compact system, so I pretty confident I'll have to look for another card.
For now seems like the next best option would be the SC2 iCX, which already has amazing performance and great reviews!

The SC2 fits easily, it's the card we have been using and it is magnificent in terms of temps and noise. Only drawback is that you have plenty of space to spare with it :)

The only problem I see with the SC2 iCX is that reviewers like TechPowerUp state that it's noisier than the competition. That's a big no-no for me. The same apparently goes for the MSI 1080 Ti Armor (OC); its heat dissipation area is a lot smaller (only half, I think) than the 2.5-slot MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X and is hence quite a bit noisier.

EVGA 1080 Ti Kingpin was interesting (with its power connectors to the right instead of at the top) until I realised that it's close to 300 mm long and the Ghost S1 has a 305 mm limit. 5 mm won't be enough for power connections.

So in the end I'm back on the EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 iCX train, hinging on the availability of 90-degree elbow pci-e power connectors/adapters (since I'd rather not have a top hat). Are there any out there?

Update: There are. On e-bay and e.g. here (Kareon Kables), and here (modDIY). All good then (unless none of them are low-profile enough, but this one surely must be). :)

I hope that with a 90-degree elbow it will fit in the case without any tophats...

Is anyone here going to using any cooler beside the Noctua L12? I have ram clearance problems which prevent me from using it. Would you guy recommend me to remove the heat spreader, stick with a more compatible cooler or just go with 240 AIO. I’ve mentioned it before but I travel by air a lot and I don’t know about pressuiation effects on AIO system. Not an overclocker FYI.

What about the NH-L9x65 then? Shouldn't it do well if OC is out of the equation?

It was on the “okay” end of his test. But when does the average PC game us 100% CPU? Probably not often. I should be okay.

I have the A4 and I love it but the primary noise-maker is the GPU once you get it really going. (1080Ti). I'm hoping a custom or hybrid solution with a good fan(s) in the Ghost tampers the noise a little.

That is exactly it, gaming seldom require long periods of 100% load. See reports in next post where the L9x65 was used with tall memory sticks - Dominator Platinum

No, not yet. But we are planning to between launch and DreamHack Winter event that starts 1:st Dec
 
So I like this... one medium top hat (or maybe small) and I won’t barely top 75 with the crappy cooler lol. Love it! Thanks for the graphs!
 
Lots of great info so far, thanks. Will be some sort of "summary" showing best temps/config? Lots of options with this case!
 
I know it is a lot to ask for newer and different hardware but I would love to see tests with a 8700k. I believe that will be the most common CPU used in this case.
 
The Fractal S24 seems like a really good option. I'm sporting the Corsair H75. This cooler is kinda crappy for my 7700k. Then again I'm trying to make Fallout 4 run as "optimized' as possible. What a crappy optimized game lol...
 
Second for 8th gen testing, preferably delidded.

An all air setup looks sufficient for what I want to do with it.

Would also like to see no tophat + the casefan under the psu + on air to see if it makes any impact on an all air setup or just superfluous.

Wonder also if there was a way to have a bottom AIO but not have the AIO blow into the GPU section, like a slanted plate (idk)

I keep lurking and seeing "the price will surprise you" in some form. Must remain level-headed!

I guess it's custom water cooling related? If so, I think Pachalski said that they'll be collaborating with two of the best/most experienced custom water cooling builders in Sweden at the upcoming Dreamhack Winter 2017 to see what can be done.
