Forza 3... Who's Getting It?

yea i saw both videos and i wont say which one looked better. either way its good that BOTH games will have this car

I will say which one "looked" better. GT5. Just like everything thing PD releases, it never actually looks like that in game play. Where is as the Forza trailer represented what you will actually be playing and replaying IN game.

It's really too bad GT titles never looks like their photos and videos that Sony releases, because they look so darn good. They even did this with GTPSP recently. Showing off vids and photos of cars in GTPSP, but when we got the actual game play, it looked NOTHING like them.

It's marketing, and they did it again with the Ferrari 458.

This should give you an idea of just how crazy Amalfi is...

:D

Woah, that's a crazy picture!

Course, they don't tell you that those other roads are just background, you can't drive on 'em! (kidding...)

It actually goes a long way to explaining how they made the whole thing 19km long...

...I fully expect to throw up after all those turns. :p

Impressive showing from Turn 10 with this compilation...they need a new boom selekta though.

Still debating on getting a racing seat...methinks my wife will kill me though...

I think you're looking at pre-production video of both so you can't really judge from that.

Personally I just don't care, I think both games look good and if I had a PS3 I'd be getting GT5 as well.

Photomode does "enhance" the look a good bit but it's a good idea of how interesting/crazy the track is.

anyone know if the demo on the 360 is a "minute after midnight" release or just some time tomorrow afternoon? if its tonight im staying up late :)

I think it's pretty likely it'll be at the usual update time... tomorrow afternoon.

that rocked....too bad the demo isnt out yet...video said it was !!!
tomorrow my friend.

if only other developers put this much effort in into their games as Turn10 has put into Forza 3 the world would be a better place. this game looks AMAZING. cannot wait for oct37th

Right a breif sumary,

Track side objects and detail are exelent, a massive improvment on Forza 2.
The car models, again a lot better than Forza 2 but still not in the same leauge as GT5p, they still have that cartoon paint look to them.

They do look better in the game but in the showroom it highlights the cartoon effect more.
The dashboard view is not very good IMO, after playing shift and seeing all those working gauges and high detail, Forza dashboards look very dull the graphics and detail fall well short here, the materials don't look like material, more like plain textures like they are.
In GT5p leather stitching, hard textured plastic looked like that, not here. Also some of the gauges and parts of the cluster look like plain photos mapped on to flat backgrounds, you can see it in a few cars.

The best view is still the bumper view, some of the dashboards like the R8 look like a cardboard cut out almost, kind of like a silhouette placed over the screen.

Here is my problem,, Everything was on full Sim, no assists what so ever, and medium AI and I won 3 out of 4 races with ease, the cars did not have a feel to them, I couldn't tell if I was driving the mini or the Ferrari, it was only the dash that gave it away, the sense of speed is not good IMO.

The main problem seams to be the handling, it isn't there! I could basically go round the track just easing off the gas and applying the brakes lightly and I could do it very comfortably with out the feeling of loosing control and having to let off the gas a fraction knowing I could spin out at any time, very strange feeling, almost as if I was watching somebody playing rather than playing it my self.

Maybe a good wheel will bring it to life?

I couldn't feel the track at all, one of the wort offenders is the Evo this just cruised around on full Sim with out the need for me to really do anything, no effort was needed on my part what so ever....

I think I need to demo this game with a good wheel now as with the pad it is feels very static and lifeless almost to the point you could be mistaken that your watching a game rather than playing it.

I will of course be testing out every setting and option, going over and over the tracks and cars but I don't think I can alter much more as everything was on Sim anyway and no assists. A wheel test is needed I think before I can make my mind up if its good or not.

The looks are very nice tho but that is not enough for me alone!

I think it's a unfair test to be honest tho as I always felt Forza's strong point is in the options it has and the online side of things, these are not present here so we can't test that. I'm sure all that kind of stuff will be top notch.
The feeling of driving is where the problem is IMO, will be interesting to see what others have to say, after playing so much GT5p and now shift with the 'alive' feeling you get when your car is connected to the tarmac, playing FM3 feels very still, static and slow.

Early days as a game of this size needs more testing.

umm

Any of you laddies downloaded the demo?

What do you think of it?

Just played it. Looks fantastic. Only played with the mini so far because I've driven it at speed in real life and it felt good. Scrabbling around with understeer if I put too much power on coming out of the corners, oversteering if I lift off rather than keeping the speed steady.

/thumbs up

Haha... the GT3 kicks my arse. I just can't seem to be competitive with it. I need some practice and a ton more finesse. :D

I'm not really a race car gaming fan, but this thread has me excited to try out the demo. Downloading it now. Thanks for all the info your guys gathered for easy viewing.

Holy crap this game is tight. The graphics are much improved. Definitely at the GT5p level as far as the cars go. But the environments and track details spank GT5p. Turn 10 did their homework.

The cars....even the Mini, FINALLY feel like cars that have weight to them. You can finally control the cars around corners, and spinning out isn't an occurrence that happens with extreme ease any longer. When you hit certain areas, the car jogs up and down like it would in real grass.

The force feedback in the MS wheel is noticeably better than it was with FM2 (which I didn't think was possible). You can feel the tires deform as you wrap around bends. You can feel it in the slide, feel it in the wheel. The physics are top notch. You can feel every bump, pebble, crack and strip as you go around the track. The feedback in your wheel is just top notch amazing.

Full sim, no assists, and hard AI, the game is crushing me. When I did that in FM2, I would walk all over the AI.

BEST RACING SIM ever on console IMO. I came.

Interiors look great, with working gauges. I love the attention to detail. Too bad there isn't an option (in the demo?) to hide the steering wheel though, since I am already using one.

Handling, physics, graphics and the force feedback feel are just top notch. Best on the console to date. You can finally press the brake pedal with regular modulation...unlike with FM2 where you just tap the brakes and they would lock up.

And the sense of speed. Holy crap. You now actually feel like you are going the speed you are driving. DAMN.

I know I am complaining for no reason, but I wish the demo had more cars and tracks. I have been TEASED, and I need more!

Ok, I just managed a 1:04:678 with the GT3. Was a sloppy lap towards the end though. I can do better!

One thing I've noticed about the handling that I really like is that it's really easy to tell when you're at the edge of your grip threshold. Top stuff.

Yup, I noticed that as well. I didn't notice it as much in GT5p or FM2. Race Pro 09 nails it pretty good, but FM3 does it one better because of the better force feedback support compared to Race Pro's.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Racing Wheel. The official one.

How do you like it, Sir? AMAZON has it for $55 (used). I think I might pick one up, there's no way I'm going to spend $400+++ for the porsche wheel!

jonneymendoza, who's review is that? It doesn't look very professional with the mispelling and all. No link?
