if only other developers put this much effort in into their games as Turn10 has put into Forza 3 the world would be a better place. this game looks AMAZING. cannot wait for oct37th

Right a breif sumary,
Track side objects and detail are exelent, a massive improvment on Forza 2.
The car models, again a lot better than Forza 2 but still not in the same leauge as GT5p, they still have that cartoon paint look to them.
They do look better in the game but in the showroom it highlights the cartoon effect more.
The dashboard view is not very good IMO, after playing shift and seeing all those working gauges and high detail, Forza dashboards look very dull the graphics and detail fall well short here, the materials don't look like material, more like plain textures like they are.
In GT5p leather stitching, hard textured plastic looked like that, not here. Also some of the gauges and parts of the cluster look like plain photos mapped on to flat backgrounds, you can see it in a few cars.
The best view is still the bumper view, some of the dashboards like the R8 look like a cardboard cut out almost, kind of like a silhouette placed over the screen.
Here is my problem,, Everything was on full Sim, no assists what so ever, and medium AI and I won 3 out of 4 races with ease, the cars did not have a feel to them, I couldn't tell if I was driving the mini or the Ferrari, it was only the dash that gave it away, the sense of speed is not good IMO.
The main problem seams to be the handling, it isn't there! I could basically go round the track just easing off the gas and applying the brakes lightly and I could do it very comfortably with out the feeling of loosing control and having to let off the gas a fraction knowing I could spin out at any time, very strange feeling, almost as if I was watching somebody playing rather than playing it my self.
Maybe a good wheel will bring it to life?
I couldn't feel the track at all, one of the wort offenders is the Evo this just cruised around on full Sim with out the need for me to really do anything, no effort was needed on my part what so ever....
I think I need to demo this game with a good wheel now as with the pad it is feels very static and lifeless almost to the point you could be mistaken that your watching a game rather than playing it.
I will of course be testing out every setting and option, going over and over the tracks and cars but I don't think I can alter much more as everything was on Sim anyway and no assists. A wheel test is needed I think before I can make my mind up if its good or not.
The looks are very nice tho but that is not enough for me alone!
I think it's a unfair test to be honest tho as I always felt Forza's strong point is in the options it has and the online side of things, these are not present here so we can't test that. I'm sure all that kind of stuff will be top notch.
The feeling of driving is where the problem is IMO, will be interesting to see what others have to say, after playing so much GT5p and now shift with the 'alive' feeling you get when your car is connected to the tarmac, playing FM3 feels very still, static and slow.
Early days as a game of this size needs more testing.
One thing I've noticed about the handling that I really like is that it's really easy to tell when you're at the edge of your grip threshold. Top stuff.
