Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

After playing to the middle act 1 Inferno and having NOT ONE single legendary or set item drop still... The Queen Alien..err diablow dropped some blues on my FIRST kill in hell an i was like "WTF???!!! Blues on HELL!!!!!?" this game and its anti-loot dropping can go eat a wet moldy bag of dicks. I honestly don't know how people get 100's of million of gold to buy AH stuff and honestly I am not gonna fugging watch a vid on how to play an aspect of a game that should be nothing more that a side attraction instead of the main fucking event. this game is a broken mess... at least i didn't spend any money on it...

Speaking on the game's forums, community manager Bashiok stated, "There needs to be something else that keeps people engaged, and we know it's not there right now".

"We recognize that the item hunt is just not enough for a long-term sustainable end-game," he said.

"Diablo III is not World of Warcraft. We aren't going to be able to pump out tons of new systems and content every couple months."

1-) How is " TOTAL damage reduction" is calculated? I mean If a monster hit 10k at one shot, and let's say you have 1000 All res and 10k armor. How many of the damage do you get?

2-) Different version of the first question, let's say you have 1k all res and 10k armor again. But now you have an item that gives %5 damage reduction. How many of the damage do you get?

3-) Stupid question: I feel as if when we move, our dodge chance increases. Is it wrong?

4-) What is the ideal critical hit chance and critical damage to be able farm ACT-4 smoothly? (Don't take other stats into consideration)

IMPORTANT: BARBARIANS NATURALLY TAKE 30% LESS DAMAGE
NOTE: Diablo works on a multiplicative system. I.E. Mob A hits for 1000 damage. You take 30% less because you're a barbian. You have armor that gives 75% reduction and resist all that gives 75% reduction, you'll take: 1000 * (1-.30) * (1-.75) * (1-.75) = 43.75 damage.

Yes, there is no bonus. Not sure about question 4.

4-) What is the ideal critical hit chance and critical damage to be able farm ACT-4 smoothly? (Don't take other stats into consideration)

No farming is dependent on your crit unless you have a build that relies on it. If you mean DPS... then it depends on your class and the rest of your stats.

Act 4 is also the worst place to farm. There is absolutely no reason to farm it.

Blizzard doesn't owe anything to anyone regarding a more substantial endgame. Its a $50/$60 single player game that gives you 20 hours of playtime on average once through - that's more than most. If you don't like the item hunt, or gear check of the inferno difficulty, move on and stop whining, you're not being charged remember?

You tell 'em, Boss.

People went in expecting thousands of hours worth of gameplay, not ~50. The game is a step back from its predecessor and overall a disappointment to many people. Blizzard owed it to themselves to make a worthy sequal and they failed.

1000 hours of gameplay is almost 3 hours a day, every day, for a year straight.

So "thousands of hours of gameplay", yeah. Think about what you just said. I don't think anyone should expect thousands of hours of gameplay from a $60 non-subscription based game (maybe MMOs, but that's a stretch even) without being seriously delusional.

If you spend alot of your free time focused on one game, it's not that hard to accumlate that amount of hours. Did it with Diablo 2 over the years as well as World of Warcraft, D3 isn't the same even though it should be

Just off the top of my head:
Starcraft
Brood Wars
Quake 3
Warcraft 3
Counter-Strike
Couter-Strike:Source
Diablo 2
Morrowind

Those are just a few games that many thousands of players have gotten thousands of hours of gameplay from, without any subscription fees. And I'm sure there's lots more.

I agree with you generally speaking - the time played vs the cost for Diablo 3 is definitely worth it when compared to other games nowadays - but that's not what players are comparing to. They are comparing to Diablo 2 which they happened to have gotten thousands of hours of gameplay from easily. All Blizzard pretty much had to do was replicate the Diablo 2 formula on a new engine and everyone would have been happy.

But no, for some reason they are adamant about making sure that the lowest possible number of D3 players see any kind of decent loot. Everytime Blizzard publicly announce they buff something to better the game for players, they stealth nerf something else without announcing it which ends up negating the effects of the original buff or even making things worse. For example when they buffed number of rare drops, they stealth nerfed the chances of those being ilvl60+ (until players caught on and they had to fix it). Now they buff the chance of ilvl 60+ dropping, they stealth nerf the rolls on those items so most of them are guaranteed to be poor.

Blizzard completely jumped the shark when it came to Diablo 3 - and are moving in the completely opposite direction recommended by their longest and most experienced Diablo 2 players.

if you have 5 stacks you would of atleast got 2 yellows.

you always get 2 yellows from bosses and 1 yellow from elite/champs with 5 stacks.

Works that way most of the time, but I've gotten 1 blue many, many times. Bugged? Who knows. Just what happens while playing the game. And no I didn't switch skills and lose my NV stacks.

You're only guarnteed 1 rare from a boss now, anymore is just luck.

They changed it in a June hotfix, or did they stealth nerf it? 4 stack NV guarantees 1 and 5 guarantees 2 rares from a boss last time it was mentioned in patch notes (June 28).

Well... Diablo 2 first of all. And Guild Wars 1 for that matter.

Oh and those other Blizzard games that aren't WOW.

I don't think it was a stealth nerf, it was just lower than it used to be. The drop rate changes were announced publicly before the patch went in. People probably didn't realize that the 8% figure for acts 3/4 was a nerf at the time. Even so, the item drop changes actually made things better for everyone. Not everyone was able to farm acts 3/4, so the changes increased the overall loot distribution in the game. It just didn't favor those who were already holding their own in the highest tier.

Getting good loot is extremely easy now even while soloing. I end up vendoring items that would have helped me push through parts of inferno pre-nerf. As a result, the AH is now oversaturated with acceptable gear for dirt cheap.

It's still intact afaik.

Found some decent pants tonight, are they RMAH worthy?

A set chest piece I sold two weeks ago for $62, undercutting other sellers, is now selling for $11 buy out. People aren't willing to spend the big bucks anymore for items. Fantastic roll on the pants, but I'm thinking $100 is more realistic, if that.

I pretty much always get 2 rares from SB after 1.03 now, nothing more, nothing less.

Before 1.03, it was anywhere from one yellow to five yellows.

Yeah in general I am not one to join the QQ crowd (that is far too prevalent in this thread), but I will agree: the stealth nerfs are really bad. Nerfs in their own right may/may not be called for, but for the love of god - at least make it transparent. The arrogance of this new team to think they can slip stealth nerfs past their players is downright insulting.

That's damn near max roll on everything, put it up for $250!

Well, everything but Dex. 41 points off on that. But yeah, everything else is 4 points or less from max roll. Has the best combination of stats a monk could want...except arguably magic find. And 2 sockets to boot. Damn near best Monk pants in the game.

Sold a ring for 58 million. I should've popped it on RMAH. Of top of head the stats were 15-28 damage, 81 int, 64 dex, 61 vit, 9% ias (max for a ring), 4% crit chance.

Whats the best way to get gold in this game? In every leveling game, I always struggle because I never have money and never have great equips.

I have to level 60s (wiz and monk) and i have +%extra gold on almost all their equips. I still only have 1.2 mil and with my luck, never find anything rare. Ever. Still haven't even found anything legendary at all.

So how can i break more than this 1.2m barrier? All the high DPS weapons cost well over 5m and I feel like even if I farm, i'll never get more than 2 mil unless i plays 100 hours straight or something.

40 million pissed away on gambles, My last gamble was 6 x level 60 rings, 3x level 61 rings. Every single one was terrible lmao

Not really, because 60-62 can give good stats. 6x 60 rings cost me 900k and the 61's cost 200k a pop.

People sell level 62 for 350 k a pop. It doesent matter the chance of getting a good roll is awful although ti got one earlier and put it on RMAH.

Usually when I need gold, I just go for gold runs and open chests with 5 NV stacks and gold find %. The items that I find that aren't worth keeping or selling gets NPC'd.

Oh, and this just dropped for me off a champion in Act 3 Inferno. Any guesses how much $$ it will sell for in in the RMAH? I put it up for 149.99 bid, $250 buyout. There is nothing on the RMAH with that much str/LoH/crit damage, AND it has vitality, and 800+ dps.

so I had this listed for $250 for a couple of days. Didn't sell. Relisted for $150. Sold in ~3 hours. Just a heads up for you guys selling stuff. Looks like the market is a bit soft for the super high $ stuff at the moment. Still great money.
