Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Oh, and this just dropped for me off a champion in Act 3 Inferno. Any guesses how much $$ it will sell for in in the RMAH? I put it up for 149.99 bid, $250 buyout. There is nothing on the RMAH with that much str/LoH/crit damage, AND it has vitality, and 800+ dps.

Definitely nice. I'd Imagine it will not take long to sell.

More like Blizzard admits Diablo 3 is not WoW. :p

No, I would say that's pretty much an indirect way of saying "We released a game that is not only unfinished, but also broken and not fun as of right now, and we know it."

What they said was:

We thought the game was ready after internal testing. When we released it, we observed that the general user had a different experience than our internal testers. We are working to bring our vision into alignment with general user expectations.

I think it'll sell for $250

if it came with a socket, it would have definitely sold for $250+

they need a way for gear to leave the game.. but that alone is not enough they also need a way to increase content which they have admitted they are nto able or willing to invest in such a way as would be needed aka a WOW situation..

They would have been wise to set the loot bars lower and difaculty lower to begin with on inferno then have a steady stream of new dlc/ acts every few months to recharge the market and player base.

I suppose they oculd implement some sort of ladder with a survival type scenario to see who can last longest etc

This is a problem in all games with mass player appeal workign together.. they allow for way to many phat loot drops daily hourly by the minute.

phat lewt use to drop once a week in old school games like EQ. That led to a heathly market. Granted the average EQ server population was 5-30 k players. scale up accordinlgy i suppose.

Bring full on gambling back. Or a 1M roll on the AH - a chance to get any item on the AH for the 1M, Blizzard pays the auctioner the difference if it's over 1M. Lol. :p

I'm with you. Max in my stash at one time was just over 1 million. My largest sale was like 500k.

I have 2 level 60 melee classes to support ;)

My stats say I've earned somewhere in the 5mil area overall.
nothing over 500k?

This has been my weekend:

However, I do feel bad for spending that 10million on the item (900dps/800LoH/Vit). I know I overpaid but oh well... it's just gold.

I would like to see gambling back in the game. I think what they need to do is create a randomized, extremely long (100+) level dungeon that gets harder as you progress. This gives something new to do besides running the same quests over and over again. Randomize the bosses, vary up the scenery and maybe give exceptional loot off an extra tough boss every 15-20 levels or so.

Also, stop splitting mf over the party so that grouping is more encouraged.

You know what would be fun? Some kind of challenge mode - no/limited pots, etc, with escalating waves of champion spawns or something. The farther you go, the higher the loot table chances get. Perhaps it could be gamed, but if done well I could see it being fun. It isn't as if anyone is really playing through for any story at this point, or that the story is even that cogent in the first place.

its fun running an overgeard barb through nightmare so far

Leap with 300% armor = instant 90% damage reduction from armor alone.

thats what i am doing now... but honestly i think they increased the difficulty and the number of packs. even with like 2500+ dps on my lvl 48 barb im dying in nightmare late act 3 hahah its pretty crazy. a lot of fun though

I personally find it funny that people are complaining about lack of end game content in Diablo. It's a single player game with co-op, not an MMO. I've seen people with 300+ hours played upset about it. If you don't think you got your moneys worth with 300 hours played, you have entitlement issues.

Blizzard needs to work on the loot and a few issues with game play but this isn't an MMO, I don't see where there is an expectation of thousands of hours of game play. Most AAA $60 games offer less than 30-40 hours.

Also, before release everyone complained that there was no offline single player, because Diablo was "always primarily a single player game". But now everyone demands more content a month after release like its an MMO. Make up your minds.

plus, with a few sales in the RMAH at $10 = 7.65 after fees, the game paid for itself for me, made $77 so far which isnt as much as some people but the game paid for itself while i enjoy playing it.

do what i did on the suggestion of someone here. Search the AH for lvl 60 weapons that have a level requirement reduction. My lvl 51 barb is rocking a 750dps sword and is rolling through Hell so far.

nothing over 500k?

My luck isn't terribly good. I've only had 2 drops that I actually said "wow, that's really nice". It might have something to do with my measly 30% MF before NV, though. I don't gear for MF, it's just a bonus to me.

Found my first set item today! Didn't think I'd ever get one, after getting my 8th shitty legendary last night.

Immortal King's Will (Helm)
633 Armor
+289 armor
+17% extra gold
Regens +112 life per second
+15% better magic find
socket

Depending on secondary stats, that 750 dps sword should be fine until late act 2/act 3 inferno.

An increasing difficulty per wave, unlimited timer Jar of Souls event? Yes please.

I've had 0 MF up until last night :p Now I'm sporting 45% MF :D RMAH - here I come

I did get some legendaries earlier on, like Hammer Jammers with a good roll. But, low level items...
I never got any good legendaries. I think I sold some wizard hat for 600k the other night, but that's the most I ever gotten for one. All others were in 30-100k range. I've had even less luck with set items. Only one so far, some monk glove I was able to sell for ~150k

I stopped playing a few weeks back. How is the game now?? Just wondering as the staying power of this game was eh..

my magic find set is around 300% after neph valor, its nice, but imo its better to go balls to the walls dps and screw magic find and just shred the champion packs, currently farming act 2 inferno with no magic find outside the neph valor and im getting too many decent drops im going to have to start lowering prices just to make sure stuff sells faster and i can start to make room in my stash.

Nothing changed.

I pretty much stopped playing as well, came back after 1.0.3 + hotfixes and stopped.

Same problems... nothing to keep it going.

Will come back again when 1.0.4 hits I guess.

Just so I don't have to try to remember all the stats here it is:

Not only is the DPS godly for my level but 674 total LoH is super nice too.

How does the LoH work with a WD's flashbomb? The bouncing skull? Do you get it each time the skull hits, or just the first?

Got these kiddies selling me unidentified i level 63 items for 200k a pop, anything lower then that they give me discount deals on. haha i love this game and im not even playing it.

Playing Counter strike while gambling on rolls err day all day, if i get a good roll it goes straight on RMAH hahaha

I got to say, trying to balance my build while stacking MF is extremely expensive, and at the end of the day, I'm cutting corners here and there just to eek out few MF points. As a Monk, trying to add 10MF in favor of 100 LoH isn't probably a good idea, but I'll test out the new items tonight, and if it doesn't work out for me... I'll just go back to being a bad ass :p

theres no doubt that finding a good balance between dps/survivability/MF is the way to go when you are out item farming.

the problem is finding that balance.

i can run act 1 all day long with 300% magic find, but in act 2 i use my pure dps set, and i end up finding better gear more often in act 2 with no extra magic find.

you always get 1 rare no matter what once you hit 5 stacks of neph so what i do is, start act 2 at the black soul stone. go back to the starting area befor magda build up 5 stacks skip to khule kill him, then belial then go back and systematically kill almost every elite in act 2 then i go back and start it all over. killing 30-40 elite/champions as fast as possible with pure dps = 40 rares without having to kill slower with more magic find for the "chance" at more drops.

im not entirely happy with my dps set either, i have pretty much no life on hit so i cant dps act 3 yet and kill champs, but i can tank it with a tank setup however thats too slow for my taste. so i stick to act 2 for now. im sitting at about 30k dps unbuffed atm on my monk

That's quite a find, IMO. You're looking into the millions to upgrade that. Should be fine for most of Inferno.

I just kill everything in Act2. Funny enough, the best drops so far I got from chests and random kills, not rares/packs/bosses.

It was only last week that I started heavily grind AH, so I'm still in the process of equipping my Monk (currently sitting at 20k unboffed, so I have a lot of room for improvement). Even at such a low DPS, my survivability is damn good, so unless I face a pack with some stupid affixes, nothing can touch me. It's a bit slow, but I'm not complaining. Much.

So the bow I posted. Not sure on the price but is 1.5 mill a good price? I'm willing to take offers on it. If anyone is interested. Let me know.

if you are unsure of the price, put it at something you are comfortable with, like the 1.5mill and then dont put a buyout and if demand is higher people will bid it up

actually it was 4 mil to buy it. It also came with a star emerald that increased crit by 70%. Right now I'd rather have the LoH of the amythest so just holding onto the emerald for now. iirc the star emerald alone is worth about 1.5 mil in the auction house.

I consider it a good buy as it's going to last me a long time and the gem will always be useful. I still at the very beginning of Hell level.

After a dry spell of crappy gear, I finally found and sold a 750 dps 1H sword with 900 LoH for 2.9M gold. I think I'll stop doing specific boss runs again because most of the time is wasted just stacking the 5 NV.

I'm now cruising through Hell difficulty and I'm noticing a bit of a trend with the difficulty of the game up to this point.
I found myself dying a fair amount at the beginning (on normal), but by Act 3 I almost never did.
When I started Inferno - I died like 5 times in the first hour, but don't think I died a single time past the beginning of Act 2.
Hell is more of the same. The very first yellow enemy was surrounded by those laser shooting blues and killed me 10 times in about a minute...but the game seems to give you the gear to deal with that stuff soon afterward. I'm now slaughtering things again, but just have to be wary of those laser shooting blues.
I know Inferno is a whole other ballgame, but it seems like if you can power through the early areas when your gear hasn't caught up - the other 3 difficulties aren't as rough as they initially seem.
Also at the same time, I'm not really sure I even want to play a whole lot more. The game just feels short. Maybe it's because I'm coming from Titan Quest, but that game was loooong. Diablo III feels like "I'm back here already?" more often than not. I don't foresee myself ever wanting to grind gear on Inferno. I think I'm not one of those people that will want better gear just for the sake of better gear...just so you can do the same thing over and over again.

I stopped playing a few weeks back. How is the game now?? Just wondering as the staying power of this game was eh..

As said above, it's still the same.

I took a step back, and thought to myself, and I think the crux of the problem is that, no matter how hard you try to justify to yourself otherwise, Diablo 3 is a no-skill game. No matter how much anyone tries to say to play better, to succeed doesn't require talent nor strategy (outside of ridicuously basic). It's mainly all about real life luck (in order to get the necessary drops needed to equip your character, or at least sell for gold so you can buy the necessary gear), or your real life bank account (to buy the necessary gear via the RMAH).

Ghom's about the hardest boss in the game which requires the most skill and strategy, and all that is, is to slowly move about the edge of the room while attacking him. Honestly, if it wasn't for the RMAH, I'm not sure I'd even be playing still.

So, uhh, Blizzard admits Diablo 3 sucks.

Blizzard has agreed with claims that the Diablo III item hunt isn't enough for a sustainable endgame.

That's all well and good, but he didnt mention the Auction House at all in that whole paragraph. It's very unusable in its current state and it changed the end game.
