Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

The best way to make this game more fun is to play hardcore. Making the switch from SC to HC has refreshed the game for me.

Have you found yourself being extremely over cautious? I have been thinking about the same thing, as doing multiple play through has already gotten boring for me.

I beat all of Act 3 and Act 4 Hell tonight, no deaths at all, even Diablo was easy. Inferno is a whole different ballgame. Any Wizards want to comment on Force Armor versus Prismatic Armor in Inferno?

I feel like my DPS is pretty low. I have 13.5k dps, 33k hp and 400 resist all in Inferno. I do okay on most packs, unless they have fast/teleport, then I have trouble kiting with Blizzard.

It's definitely a learning curve.

It's only been a day since 1.0.3, stop with the hyperboles.

You can call it what you want, but he's right about the auctions. I can't sell anything now, even pricing my stuff at 50-60% of what others are asking. I put up 10 items last night and not one has sold, even at fire sale prices. I'm talking nice lvl 60-63 rares, not junk. The rage coming from the D3 forums is insane, I've never seen anything like it. I mean, really, really nasty, to the point they might just need to shut it down for a few days.

I've see several people quote the similar player numbers he has too. An 80% drop in users in public games overnight isn't a statistical anomaly, I think a lot of people are fucking pissed. I personally dont have a problem with the 1.03 patch, as it didn't effect me to much, but it really screwed a lot of other people.

At least I think we can say that Blizzard is fairly responsive to stuff like this, and if it continues this way we should see some response. I do agree however that people tend to knee jerk to big changes like this, it was the same way in WoW. It'll be a much better indicator where the game is at in a week or two.

I personally use prismatic, but I also have 50k HP and 5200 armor. Force armor provides better protection, but with my setup I don't see it's effect as often as you would having lower hp. 13.3k DPS is going to make things really difficult for you, you need at least twice that much IMO in order to progress. I was at ~25k before the IAS nerf, and now I'm back down to 17k, which sucks pretty hard. So, I'm back in act 1 again trying to find a higher DPS weapon, lord knows I can't afford to buy one in the GAH.

Looking at my AH history I've sold 9 items since the patch hit, so I honestly haven't noticed anything different regarding AH behavior. Really can't use that as evidence that no one is playing anymore.

Repair costs are probably putting a lot of players off, though.

Not extremely over cautious but definitely need to be a lot more aware of what's going on, plus you have to be overgeared just in case. Its a learning curve but so much more fun even if you do accidentally die and sit there wishing you could revive :p

That's good  I find myself more addicted to the Auction House than the game lately, so maybe Hardcore is just the ticket to getting to shop every level or two :D I still find myself playing Starcraft 2 more than anything else, even after getting this game, which disappointed me.

The repair costs are a pain, but it wouldn't be so bad if the loot drops weren't bugged right now. I am getting Hell difficulty loot in Act3 Inferno Siegebreaker runs.

Blizzard messed up the loot tables, I think right now the Inferno loot tables are actually Hell.

Their is a large thread on this over at the Diablo forums and I certainly have noticed it too.

Well THAT would be a game breaking bug, and certainly understandable why the number of games would drop. I am going to go try that on my Barb, I haven't played much since patch to notice.

This patch is ridiculous..

I bought something worth 10m of golds, and now with patch cost like 100k.....
Now I have nothing left to play. Can barely do act 3, unlike before the patch. No money to buy new gears...

I think I am going to quit for sure this time, sick of this so call "diablo want to be" shit.....
Wait for GW2 or Torchlight 2.... This game is totally crap, and I regret for paying 100 USD on collectors edition.

Im happy with the damage decrease. Higher inferno acts feel like I just might be able to do them now. But I just don't want to play. They pretty much removed all incentive and fun.

Im broke. I have low-middling gear (mostly ilvl 60 stuff), and the repair bill kills me. Where's my incentive to farm for better gear if im hitting a 40-50k deficit each run? My lowly 2 million, that took forever to get is disappearing quickly just from trying to farm with no success. Sure im getting more rares in a1, but ehoopty shit. I can't use them, and I can't sell them. Ans since they severely Nerfed chests and breakables, I dont have any less cost roohibitive way to make scratch. its not like I can go gold find hell ponies any more.

How much is it costing you'll to repair each death? I'm at 13,000 a death and my gear is absolute garbage as I just decided to give Inferno a try. I'd like to know what it will cost if I had decent gear to see if it's worth it to play until they do another patch.

Thx.

That 10 million dollar worth of goods probably should have never cost 10 million in the first place. And sorry but it is stupid to spend 10 million on items and then bitch about the deprecation.

I really just think you are exaggerating though or you had a bunch of attack speed gear, which everyone pretty much knew was going to be nerfed.

Your incentive is to farm or play the lower levels until you are a point with your gear to take on the next act without dying and respawning 100 times just to kill one pack of elites.

I'm not a happy camper with the 1.03 patch. I couldn't pass inferno act 2 solo on my demon hunter because every range, one shot me. Now with this patch I was thinking I might get a hit or two before I die. Instead I am still getting one shotted and my repair bill is going through the roof. My only option is to play in public games or use the AH get my 1K two handed crossbow and be above the DPS curve. It's like they are forcing me to use the AH because farming Act 1 for two weeks with BARELY any upgrades is really getting on my nerves. But the good news is my barb will be decked out head to toe when he hits 60. Becuase that's all I get is barb gear on my demon hunter and barely any class specific rare.

Farming for 2 weeks!!! The horror. Did any of you guys play WoW, EQ, etc.

If it took you days to progress from Act 1 inferno to Act 2, 3 and 4 people would be complaining about how the game was easy.

mirrored my sentiments exactly

not only that, but all the people i liked playing with quit!
my friends list is 1/5th the size it was

I agree but I wish the level 61 - 62 weapons with 137 dps would stop dropping in Inferno Act I. I got a rare wizard hat yesterday that had -12 level requirement and nothing else on it.

Yea outside of the iLevel things some of the gear feels like a cluster fuck. But they did fix it so you dont have to farm bosses anymore.

Yea, but at 13k a death I think I'd rather farm bosses than the elites. If I have to repair fully once I've lost a night of elite farming. But I do get some gear even though I'm slowly going broke.

I completely agree. I was hesitant at first but now that I took the plunge I'm really glad I did. The AH is actually sane too. More than likely because the item destruction when people lose their characters providers for a more robust and stable economy.

I agree this lag is insane...wth?

I kept rubberbanding so much I just dropped my escape moves from my DH's bars and went moves where I heal myself. At least I have a chance then as getting away and rubberbanding back into a pool of fire is much more frustrating. I was actually using that crappy healing sentry when the lag got really bad last night. You know things have to be terrible to break that thing out lol.

between 170-190ms ping, it makes my 3 defense moves of choice absolutely worthless.

Frost nova, diamond skin, and teleport all require you to hit the shit before you get in trouble, and with this sort of ping it's just too easy to get fucked. I didn't care as much before because i wasn't throwing all my money away at repairs.

I guess if i want to keep playing with this lag i'll have to switch to defense moves which are way less fun to play with, but trigger automatically like force armor, familiar with ancient guardian, etc. anyone know a 3rd which would work?

Has anyone done anything which improves ping?

It's the same with my Demon Hunter as the money required to repair has exacerbated the lag issue. Before I loved to see how long I could last while lagging. Now it's 13k a death down the toilet. If I play for 5 hours farming elites in Act I Inferno wearing level 61 gear I'm at -20k gold a night. I removed nearly all of my defensive CD's off my bar.

First time on Azmodan Hell difficulty yesterday:

I didn't even know what the achievements were until after, lol

You would think they would understand human nature and that the path of least resistance is the one that people in general will take. They keep overreacting to things and doing complete 180's. My lord my repair bills are going to break me.

Well Done! I really enjoy the little achievements when you do well on an encounter. It makes it feel more rewarding.

Well my copy of Diablo3 has officially paid for itself, thanks to 1.03 and the new drop rates. Off an item that could not have dropped in A1 inferno before the patch. Its amazing what people buy and what they will pay. Best patch ever! :)

I never noticed rubber banding until this most recent patch. I have always had lag though.

And on to good news I beat inferno Diablo finally. I could have beaten him a while ago but I never saw the benefit of grinding through act 4 just to beat him.

Took a few tries but once I changed my Wizard build to use Venom Hydra, Star Meteor, and Blizzard it was easy.

also it helped once I figured out he only teleports when you get close to an edge.

Back to bad news When my gear goes to the red is over 40K to repair.

OK...is rubberbanding when the game seems to skip and you like move 30 feet in an instant? Cuz I've had that a few times...

Repair costs are going to make me have to farm the AH hard buying a reselling for profit. 0 deaths last night but still blew through 1/3 of my gold reserves. That was even after almost doubling my resists.
