Destiny 2

The 3D setting was/is only for people with 3D TVs and monitors and that whole get up if I read up on that properly so I'm betting that might have been your culprit., SMAA likely not. I'm using that.

You guys probably have already done it but any time you see quirks like that? Re-verify your files. It's the first, easiest debug step.

I copied my destiny 2 folder to my laptop and I managed to play on that for 1.5-2 hours without crashing so the files seem to be ok (also I did do the verify thing, and the run as admin someone else suggested, none of that helped)

It's a pain to play an FPS shooter on a laptop though.

I've put in a solid 3-4 hours over the weekend and have had no crashes after swapping things to FXAA and HDAO. Could just be pure luck (or even the newest Nvidia driver) but I'm gonna stick with this just in case SMAA and or 3D SSAO = what's causing the issue.

Going to give that a try then (if I have those on, not sure)

Use a controller

I don't have nearly enough time to play to keep turning in crap for the random drop. But this gun is just retarded, .4 second ttk and all you have to do is hit the target not even try for the head.

It’s a bug acknowledged by Bungie. There will be a hotfix on Tuesday. Instead of letting the weekend ride out with a select few players having a major advantage, Bungie made the gun available to everyone through xur. The bug should have never made it through their QC but at least they leveled the playing field for the weekend. I like the way they handled it.

It works.

I barely go to Crucible but I did today just to prove the point to myself:

Many if not most players were using it including myself and guess what? It still came back to skill. I still sucked, for example.

There's a negation effect. I went away from that far less concerned vs going into it.

Do you know what the hotfix is supposed to do exactly?

Fix whatever is causing that gun to have a 0.4 second ttk.

Tried Domingo's things, did not work, tried the new fallout 4 VR driver no dice either, starting to hate tis game.

^^ I don't have time to get into that right now but I will say that I still am seeing some pretty jaw dropping remarks from my 2000 hours on Destiny 1 junkie friend in regards to D2 that are not good.

I'm happy enough with the game for what it is but I'm a casual player. Bungie needs to get a clue and listen to what some of these die hards of theirs are saying and respond sooner rather than later. There is enough consensus that I've tracked on constructive criticisms once you get past all the usual haze that they need to get on it.

I realized yesterday myself that I am losing incentive to continue playing because shy of getting into Nightfall and Leviathan and that sort of thing (one of these days I might get it done)... how many times I can replay the same "adventures" and missions? Patrols are pointless after a short while.

I just feel like I'm running out of gas with it. On the first Destiny, Taken King was huge. A lot of us were playing that for some time and it got a lot of mileage. That's not what is happening here. Not yet. They need to do a course correction and soon.

For me, the biggest issue with Destiny 2 is that (in spite of the graphical overhaul), it’s still just Destiny Season 4. Same gameplay, same weapons, same enemies, same loot system. etc.
It obviously has a graphically appealing skin on it, some minor balance tweaks, and the maps are different – but it’s still 90% the same game. It’s still fun to play, but it’s pretty easy to hit a wall and feel more burned out than you should…because it’s so similar. Only the serious hardcores are noticing the nuanced gameplay changes.
I’m still compelled to play it, but the feeling of déjà vu is through the roof once you get past the first two planets. Right down to the Taken showing up and the enemy AI doing the EXACT same things. I’m also not sure anything in 2 is as well done as the Taken King was.

They need a wider variety of weapons and enemies. Killing the same 6 enemies (or other players in the Crucible) with the same handful of weapons for 3 years only has so much appeal. Adding a SMG and a couple new supers you can only use occasionally didn’t really add that much, IMO.

It launched in a vastly superior state compared to the original game, but it’s lacking compared to Destiny with the Season 2 and 3 content. That’s the downside of any “game as a service” release, but they had to know that going in.

^^ I totally agree.

I'm sure there are logistical reasons for this but in a perfect world and with 20-20 hindsight I'm not sure why the "new material" in this could not simply have been released as a deluxe expansion to the first game with the fanfare of a soft reboot because the "full game" would be brought out on the PC as we know it.

What's really interesting about this is some of the junkies like my friend still say they like Destiny 1 better even now so comments like that would tend to go to other things past just "deja vu" and staleness and so forth.

they are slamming the hell out of destiny 2 and the DLC model....

I divorced this game a month ago good looking game just no staying power. I mean you like shooting the crap out of stuff on a screen it's ok then it gets old fast. Matchmaking is less than ideal for whatever I just don't care about it anymore.

Good summation: "Staying power." It's lacking.

I've beaten the matchmaking topic well into the ground. ;)

Wasn't there some noise about Bungie being contracted to make a total of 4 Destiny games for Activision? If so they definitely wouldn't want to keep expanding the first one any longer than necessary.

I never played D1, so this expansion was my first indication of just how Bungie intend to develop the game. And my impression is that they're going to do the minimum they can get away with (including testing, apparently).

I got my warlock and hunter to 20 and I just kind of stopped playing, I have the season pass but I have zero motivation to actually login and play the game.

for me the game doesn't really start until after level 20. that's when the loot grind begins which is a big chunk of the fun. i suppose it's not accurate to say the game doesn't 'start' until after level 20, as the story missions were pretty damn fun.

For me, I don't think there was all that big of a change in how I approached levels 1-20 vs. the light level stuff after you hit level 20. I hit level 20 at roughly the halfway point in the story anyway. By then I'd maxed out all 3 Hunter sub-classes and understood how to boost/collect equipment anyway.
One of the easiest ways to gain levels after completing the main game is to go around and do all of the additional story quests on each map. Those are the little flags you see, not the collect/kill/report beacons. They give you decent XP/loot, they're usually not boring, and some probably should have been part of the main game. Just doing all of those should probably get your light level to the 250-260 range. At least assuming you do all of the public events in your way.

I had a better overall view of Bungie and felt they deserved some benefit of the doubt and still do to a point but the clock is ticking and they need to respond to some pretty obvious consensus that's out there across the hardcore junkies and even some of more casual players' constructive criticisms.

I sincerely hope that you're wrong the "up to 4 games" because I don't see this series making it to four games at this rate. At the very least they should absolutely not rush it and they have a lot of work to do right now on this one.

We won't have to wait too long for Destiny 3... because it will be known as Anthem. ;) (Yeah, I went there.)

is Anthem a looter shooter type of game?

To be fair: No one knows for sure yet but the way the concept has been outlined and that mock CGI footage that was shown at E3 suggested something somewhat similar.

Looks like some D2 update just came through. I bet that's adios to Prometheus Lens. ;)

Whatever clan the game defaulted me with hasn't been online in weeks (if ever), so I just signed up for the [H] clan. Hopefully we can help one another out.

What is this [H] Clan you speak of? Can I find it on Bungie.net? I did find one clan called Hard - but it's a PSN clan.

Also, I'm now power/gear lvl 309 on my Titan - is that good enough to raid with?

Here's the link - it was buried in this thread about 10 pages ago: https://hardforum.com/threads/destiny-2-clan-pc.1946921/

I'm just about to hit 300 with my Hunter. I figured that at the very least we could benefit from the Clan rewards.

I took a break from playing, but started again after this expansion came out. I plan on playing a bunch this weekend.

Welp, it isn't MSAA causing the crashing. After several hours of no issues I had 2 almost back to back crashes today, both using FXAA. Both were triggered by the public events. The first was the glimmer drill one where the drill has an area-of-effect damage phase with a dome. The second was the Taken blight which (again) has an area of effect you have to enter in order to damage enemies.
In both instances, there's a ton of crap going on and a dome you have to enter/exit. Thinking about my other crashes, those events were going on for several of them. Nightstalker grenades seem to be another.

That leaves 3D SSAO as a possibility. I swapped back to HDAO to see if that helps.

I'm somewhat confident this might be your issue if my reading on it is correct: That 3D setting is for people that have 3DTVs. (Again, someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. That's the best data gathering I was able to do on it. )

I hope this is it. :)

no it's just a higher quality SSAO. see here: https://www.geforce.com/whats-new/g...uide#destiny-2-screen-space-ambient-occlusion

Still crashing for me, tried a couple different settings, but not in the mood te reboot my pc every 2-5 min to test em all, at this point I wasted my money on some buggy game from a crappy developper that cba to even recognise the issue a lot of players seem to have.

My crashes are far less frequent, but no less annoying. I've gone through periods where it wouldn't crash for 5-6 hours and then (like yesterday) sometimes it'll happen in rapid succession. I'm convinced it's a setting combined with something related to those "area of effect" effects, but I wish I knew which setting and what to do about it.

My issue is that pre 1.1.0 I could play for a couple hours but since then, I can barely last 5 min and I did not change any settings, so no idea what's going on, but what that patch was ssupposed to fix only made it worse for me.

Everything I tried to fix it since seems to do nothing.

I looked around a bit and sure enough this is indeed a somewhat larger issue. Twitter feeds, Bungie forums... you all are definitely not along and I'm really sorry about it. I'm sure you all have done everything conceivable. The only thing left I can imagine would be to check and disabley and and all third party softwares, overlays, MSI afterburner....anything like that... and check OC settings.
